GIVE ME MOREEEE !!!!!

This drama was so good that i watched it instead of studying for my boards exam !!!! The lead actress is so good, she portrayed her character with such ease that it didn't feel like acting and her chemistry with the male lead !!!!! All the dynamics were portrayed in such a warm and authentic manner that it felt as if i was with my own family, everyone had their good and bad sides, their struggles and traits that made me wanna root for them. The message about the importance of family, education and woman empowerment touched my heart. The cast members were so good at playing their character ad the music !!!! The painting and draws were also beautiful !!! WRITER AND ARTIST DUO WILL ALWAYS HAVE MY HEART !!!!

A piece of realism

Love story in the 1970’s (30.05.2026)

As the name suggests, the story takes place in the 1970’s. The story fleshes out the life in 1970 as accurately as possible. The plot relies heavily on realism and the life ordinary people. There is nothing flashy just people trying to survive and figure out living. Main characters Fei Ni and Fang Mu Yang were classmates. During that time Fei Ni thought that Fang Mu Yang was the spawn of her ill fortune. They cross paths again years later when Fang Mu Yang decides to return to his hometown, Jiangcheng. Fang Mu Yang becomes a hero by saving people during a flood. In the process he takes an injury to his brain and forgets everything. In the hope to earn a place from college, Fei Ni takes care of “Hero” Fang Mu Yang. For personal gains they get into a contract marriage. After overcoming obstacles together, they realize their feelings are mutual.

This drama differs from many other things I have watched. It sounds out with its realistic and honest nature. No bluffing, just the life of people who are figuring out life and trying to make changes. I noticed lots of elements of positivity from many characters. Humans being humans is a short explanation. They make mistakes, they ask for forgiveness, they change, they communicate. Relationships are not some kind of out of the ordinary people having the “perfect romance” but people who express their love differently, whether it is words or actions. It doesn’t need to be expensive gifts or material things, what matters the most is that they’re striving to support one another at any time. Being present, cheering for each other’s success is what makes their relationship special. Especially Fang Mu Yang and Fei Ni are the best example of this type of relationship. They tried to understand each other, give a helping hand when they were troubled. I remember when Fei Ni needed a TV coupon so that her brother could get a job. She never once asked FMY to do anything about it but he was prepared all along. When FMY’s drawings weren’t accepted for the comic, she found the papers and made a collection, surprising him on the rooftop. The way they appreciate each other makes me as the watcher really touched. There are many other scenes like how he brought a vinyl because he knew she loved playing on he piano but didn’t have the chance to or when he asked permission for a library that belonged to Mrs. Fu because she loved books so much or when FN came to defend his comic because Mr.Yuan wanted to make changes that FMY didn’t want. This main couple has a very special aspect of optimism. When they are in a rough patch, they believe they can make things better and that their effort would never be wasted. They fought until they achieved what they wanted. This teaches that people shouldn’t be afraid of rejections or bad moments in life as the brighter days are still ahead…

"To be honest, I never thought I’d fall for you. It’s not that you’re bad. I’ve known you since Grade 3. Back then, I knew we weren’t the same kind of people. You splurged a lot. To put it nicely, you were carefree and optimistic. But frankly, you were reckless. That being said, it was you who made me understand that no matter how hard life is, when two people share it, it becomes lighter. And you taught me life isn’t only about distant goals. It’s also about the scenery right in front of you."

This quote made me remember something. FMY starts spending his money carefully because he knows family takes responsibility and changes his habits. Another example of cuteee moments

Fang Mu Jing and Qu Hua
Their story is relatively simple but enjoyable. Two people, one wanted marriage because she was a lookalike of some lover in the past, the other one wanted a better background. FMJ doesn’t realize his feelings are genuine and not because she looked like Yan. He didn’t know her feelings were genuine as she carried that kind of aura, a person who can let go of anyone easily. Deep down FMJ was hurt and wanted someone to stay with her, truly and only for her. Their love story is not my favorite but it is definitely not the worst.

Ye Feng and Ling Yi
Perfect match as in being the worst (Ling Yi even worse). Ye Feng couldn’t figure out much without his mother. He was setting standards for a girl HE was chasing? He was pushing boundaries while he was pursuing FN. He is too arrogant. There is his wife Ling Yi (cheater) who can’t seem to decide between men. For her, whoever has a blossoming career or whoever that can help her get a blossoming career is suitable. She thinks she can bend and break all the rules because she had a bad past but clearly she was a manipulator from the beginning, maybe not when she was in a pig farm but definitely when she was chasing YF, gaslighting him into thinking he was missing out on someone good. Trying to get empathy at any point she was in trouble and her selfishness really fed me up. She got what she deserved.

Fei Ting and Lin Mei couple
Fei Ting was dealing with job dissatisfaction while Lin Mei struggled with her family who only saw her as a way to earn a position for their son. I love how they dealt with their problems while trying to understand one’s situation. Their story was wrapped up nicely, love it.

Feng Lin
Dare I say the biggest and nastiest jealous person in the story. She just tries to make everyone’s life miserable as if it makes hers look better. All the time I was hesitating to punch the screen. She came up with every possible way to get FN in trouble over a small grudge. I stressed so much because of her because I kept thinking “Oh this little nasty pos is somehow gonna find a way to turn this situation worse for FN”. I hated her so much and good job acting WYY! When she was left without anything in her life I laughed so much. Even in dramas where villains are so much hateful, I never once felt that way but Feng Ling, I couldn’t stop cackling when she was getting hit by karma one by one. That was such a satisfactory ending, couldn’t ask for more!

I need to conclude this here. In short this drama was very realistic, not afraid of showing the true life of common people in the 1970’s while also capturing the beauty of relationships of that era. 10/10. Will miss it!!!

Heartwarming and profoundly moving "must watch" series

This series is a beautifully poignant, and heartwarming story that piqued my interest in China on the brink of Deng Xiaoping’s economic reform. I would not have been equipped to navigate the complex social landscape depicted in this series. Pressures from families, community and the economy appear to be intense however it was inspiring to see characters gracefully meet the demands and overcome the difficulties they encountered. The acting appeared natural and realistic- evidence that the actors truly understood their characters and made them memorable for the viewers

A Warm, Quiet Love That Stays With You

This show feels like a warm blanket on a cold day. It’s not your typical dramatic, heart-racing, kicking-your-feet kind of romance. Instead, it’s something softer—something that gently hugs your heart. And honestly, I don’t think Love Story in the 1970s could have been given a more perfect title, because that’s exactly what it delivers.

It’s a true slice-of-life drama. The pacing is definitely on the slower side, but it never felt boring to me because of how rich the storytelling is. There are so many layers and stories woven into it, and what really stood out is how it sheds light on a period of China that many people (including me) didn’t fully know about. The use of archival footage and real historical moments made it feel almost educational at times, which added so much depth. It really shows how difficult life was back then, but in such a beautiful and human way.

One thing I loved is how the drama proves you don’t need extravagant costumes or flashy production to captivate an audience. Everything is simple—the outfits, the hairstyles, even the overall styling. The cinematography has this soft yellowish tone that adds to the nostalgic feel, and I appreciated how the characters weren’t overly polished. They looked messy, tired, real. That kind of rawness is rare, and it made everything feel more authentic compared to the “perfect” characters we usually see.

I started this drama mainly for Chen Feiyu, and I honestly didn’t expect this level of performance from him. I’m used to seeing him in more intense or emotionally heavy roles, but here he felt completely different—so natural, so effortless. His acting was subtle, especially in his micro-expressions and the way he looked at the female lead. He truly shined in this role, and you can really see his growth as an actor. His character is the definition of a green flag—supportive, gentle, and unwavering in his love. He supports her dreams without ever losing himself, and that balance was beautiful to watch.

The female lead was just as strong. I loved her persistence and determination. She fails multiple times trying to get into university, but she never gives up, and that message really sticks with you. She always stands by what’s right, and her journey is incredibly inspiring. The actress did a great job portraying her strength and resilience (even if, yes, the braids did get a bit repetitive after a while 😅).

The main couple’s relationship is one of the highlights for me. It’s soft, supportive, and grounded. There are no dragged-out misunderstandings or unnecessary drama. Instead, their relationship feels very human and realistic—built on mutual respect, growth, and quiet love.

But surprisingly, the second couple completely stole the show for me. Their story is more intense, more fiery, and honestly electric from the start. It’s a nice contrast to the softer, youthful main couple. Their chemistry was incredible, and their storyline felt more mature and emotionally charged. Wang Tianchen really stood out—where has he been hiding? He was so charismatic and captivating, and now I definitely want to see more of his work.

As for the third relationship (the brother’s storyline), I didn’t enjoy it as much, but I understand why it was included. It shows a more controlling and flawed relationship, which adds realism. Not every love story is healthy, and I think the drama did a good job portraying that side as well.

And the villains… wow. I genuinely hated them, which honestly just proves how well the actors did. Feng Lin especially was infuriating. I wanted her to face even harsher consequences, but in the end, seeing everyone who caused harm lose everything was extremely satisfying. No unnecessary redemption arcs—just pure karma, and I loved that.

At its core, this drama teaches you a lot: stay humble, stay kind, and never give up on your dreams. No matter how high you rise, things can change, and that message is delivered in such a grounded and meaningful way.

Overall, this is a beautiful, emotional, and quietly powerful drama. It’s slower-paced, yes—but if you’re in the mood for something heartfelt, realistic, and different, this is absolutely worth watching. It’s cinematic, touching, sometimes funny, and full of life lessons that stay with you long after it ends.

A Masterpiece really!

I usually hate dramas that are depicted from the past or set in an era. But this I literally couldn't stop watching. I don't even like romance in a series. The acting and the actors were perfect. It feels so real and gets you hooked without realizing. It made me feel like I am with them and its happening in real time.
The actors portrait the characters perfectly. Fang Muyang and Fei Ni are real hahaha
Also Qu Hua and Muying are real too hhahahah.
Go watch it you won't regret it.

Warm Comfortable kindof drama

Cute & Charming with a female character that's resilient, persistent and really strong. ML is also soo cute but has his own flaws that he actively tries to workout and they both encourage each other to be a better version of themselves- I really loved that, aside to that tho...the story is pretty mild, can be used as a palate cleanser but the plot in itself does not leave anything much to say...tho the journey is really beautiful.

The secondary couple? Initially it was a no no noo for me but the SFL was really rational and charming so much so that I really came to enjoy her story too.

Overall a really fulfilling and fun ride!

Bell-Bottoms, Bicycles & Butterflies: A Love Story That Takes Its own sweet time

Set against the dusty charm of 1970s China, Love Story in the 1970s is the kind of drama that doesn't rush to impress you, it just quietly wins you over, like a slow cup of tea you didn't know you needed.
Let's be upfront: this is not a drama for the impatient. If you need car chases, misunderstandings every episode, or a second male lead stirring up unnecessary chaos ...look elsewhere. The pacing here is gentler than a Sunday afternoon bicycle ride. Some might call it slow burn. Others (me, briefly) might call it "why is nothing happening yet?" But stick with it, because what unfolds is genuinely worth the wait.

And then a line like this hits you: "I like you. The moment I first saw you, I liked you. I carry this feeling, across half of China."
No grand gestures. No dramatic music swell needed. Just a man, his truth, and an entire country between them. That one line is the whole drama in a sentence , and it's the reason I stayed for every slow, beautiful episode of it.

The leads are the real soul of this show. Their romance doesn't rely on drama or manufactured tension it's built on something almost radical in C-drama land: actual communication. They talk. They listen. They understand each other. It's so refreshingly healthy you might feel personally attacked by how functional their relationship is compared to your own life.
The acting is stellar across the board. No overacting, no melodrama just grounded, honest performances that feel lived-in. The entire cast clearly understood the assignment.
Production-wise, this drama did its homework. The costumes, the settings, the textures of everyday 1970s life all of it feels authentic, not like a prettified Pinterest version of the era. The clothes alone are a love letter to that decade, and not in an ironic way.
Is it slow? Yes. Is it honest? Absolutely. Is the romance so wholesome it made me briefly reconsider my whole personality? Possibly.
Rating: A beautifully unhurried 8.5/10 = for those who believe love stories should breathe.

At the end of the day, Fang Muyang and Fei Ni are not just victors in love they are the most simple 'light chasers' of their era

In this era of change, love isn't just a feeling. It's a promise we keep through the storms of life

"I used to think I was unlucky...But only now do I realize that all good fortune had been saved up so I could meet you." — Fei Ni.

"Sometimes what we call bad luck is simply life's way of preparing us for something greater. If the road north is blocked, you take the long way around and maybe rest a while before you begin again."

Fei Ni is the kind of female lead you root for from the very first scene. A passionate reader with an unwavering dream of becoming a writer, her path to university is blocked at every turn and yet she refuses to stop. She doesn't just endure her circumstances, she embodies determination. Every setback, every failure only seems to sharpen her resolve.

And then there is Fang Mu Yang — the person her "bad luck" leads her to. What she doesn't know at first is that this chance encounter will turn out to be the greatest blessing of her life. Their chemistry is genuinely heartwarming, the kind that sneaks up on you quietly and then refuses to let go.

What stayed with me most wasn't the romance, though it was what the show says about having someone in your corner. Not a perfect person but someone who supports you whenever you need him/her. Fang Mu Yang is that person for Fei Ni and watching it made me realize how much that can change the weight of everything else — failure, poverty, uncertainty. None of it disappears, but somehow it stops feeling unsurvivable.

If you're looking for a story that pairs quiet resilience with a romance that actually feels earned. This one is worth every episode.

Very solid drama

This isn't an idol drama so if you're looking for a romance-focused drama, this might not be for you.

This was a down-to-earth drama with a solid story. Everyone's acting was solid. Even though the idol acting is still present with Chen Fei Yu (but it's negligible), Sun Qian's acting was very natural. The second leads' story was much more intriguing to me. I wouldn't have minded if they extended the push and pull for a little longer lol.

I feel like this drama is a solid 4, but I'm giving it a 3 because it's a little slow for my taste.

It's not so bad to get married afterall if it's Fang MuYang

This has got to be the perfect slice of life Chinese drama for me! As an old soul who always long for anything nostalgic and a sucker for romance who just wants to enjoy a good watch, this show got it all and I am beyond amaze how everything has been put together, from the slightest detail of each characters imperfection (no fancy clothes and makeup) to how the flow of the story went and everything in between. I like how it looked so raw and unfiltered that everything just looked natural but still beautiful. It's almost like you also travelled back in time. Although the cutting of the scenes were not that smooth, but the director was still able to capture the emotions of each character.

This show also made me realize how although life was so hard before, it was so easy to get married. And it's not so bad to get married afterall if you have someone like Fang Mu Yang or Qu Hua to depend on. You can conquer everything as long as you have each other.

I really like the fact that this is not your normal fake marriage story. Since the beginning you can already see how ML already has feelings for FL. The way he looks at her, I wish there'd also be someone who looks at me that way. His eyes really are so full of emotions.

Everything about this drama just feels so good and I loved how the love of each couple grew and made them a better version of themselves.

I hope there'd be another season showing their college life, but for now, I'll just continue to reminisce the scenes that were shown to us and the scenes that were left out for our imagination.

Very good drama

Love Story in the 70s is pretty good. The main leads are engaging and endearing, the second leads have an intriguing dynamic, but the third leads who had an incredibly irritating arc with wife’s parents and brother are given more screen time than the second leads. Parents of both the female lead and male lead are memorable but it was entertaining to watch the female lead’s father. Everyone has acted very well. The real scene stealer is the textile mills director Xu Hong Qi and that cup of hers that breaks into pieces on the floor. It also is Chen Feiyu’s best performance to date. Like most Asian series, everyone in this drama has a job and they have struggles related to work, ambitions, families and senior colleagues as well as love. In fact, it’s the work life of each individual that moves the story forward. Locations are realistic, as are the events. It is set in a particularly difficult time period in Chinese cultural and educational history and may feel like a propaganda piece in some instances. The only person I felt bad for is Ling Yi, the way her journey was concluded was unfair. You’ll hate Feng Lin, universally disliked individual, and good riddance.

Only one word-Loved it!!!!

A beautiful drama with a simple plot, beautiful and eye pleasing locations, two people who overcome all the struggles and obstacles in their life and heartwarming family relations-totally makeup Love story in the 1970's.🤗
The plot is simple and straightforward.
Good people reap good, while bad people always meet a bad ending and patience always, is the key for achieving anything in one's life. That is what this beautiful drama portrays in a simple manner.
Fang Muyang and Fei Ni, have become one of my favorite couple😍. They have a mutual understanding, support and encourage each other, and always are there for each other in anytime, no matter the place is. I love them 🥰. The development of their love track is really impressive.
Arthur Chen and Sun Qian were perfectly cast for their roles, and I can never imagine anyone else in their roles. They were excellent in their performances.
All the other actors were also excellent👍
The music is good. Costumes were good too.
The Republican era setting suited well.
