This show genuinely gave me such... JOY.

It did a great job balancing the unhinged humor, with real moments of emotional connection. I genuinely laughed so much watching this show and certain lines really stuck with me, both humorous (“Why are you buried vertically like this??”) and meaningful ("Being your boyfriend is not something I would be embarrassed about.")

And I've said this before, but this show would not work at all if literally anyone but Earth Pirapat played Heng. Earth is incredible in this role, and I left it understanding why all of these people love confused, sweet himbo Heng, because Earth made me love him too, faults and all. Earth was giving range - humor, heartbreak and everything in between, he did it all so well. Earth deserves the praise he’s received for his performance and more.

All the actors are firing on all cylinders. P’Shahkrit is clearly having so much fun with this role and is so funny and did such a great job swinging between the unhinged comedy and the more grounded, human moments. And Kapook, Dada, etc. had great moments as well.

Overall, I enjoyed this show and the viewing experience. I knew exactly what I would be getting into, having been a fan of the source material, and I've been pleased with where it’s improved on the source and never walked into any viewing expecting it to be anything but what it is: chaotic fun

Over-the-top cringy, I completed it out of sole stubborness

Full disclosure, I have not seen the original Japanese drama from which this series is an adaptation. I unfortunately really disliked this BL drama centered around "Heng", a real estate agent (with the IQ of an oyster) that discovers that his boss is in love with him. Strangely enough (because the main character is not that appealing in all his dumbness glory), "Boss" is not the only one pursuing intently "Heng", as "Mo" (one of his colleague) also declare his feelings to him... It could have been interesting but the writing, the over-the-top acting (for sure a directing choice) and the comedic aspects really did not made it work for me !

There were so many elements intrinsic to the core of the story that I found very cringy, especially because of the power imbalance in the office setting. Indeed, the "boss" character irked me so much : he clearly uses his hierarchical position in the company to take advantage of the main character's naivety. In addition to the boss that uses coercion to make his employee literally date him, the evolution of "Heng" is so slow that until almost the end, it seems that he has not progressed on anything and still make the same mistakes until the conclusion. Last but not least, "Mo"'s character might have been my fave despite me having issue with some of his choices as they were based on noble idiocy and miscommunication tropes that I loathe.

My main issue is with the directing that made actors like Mix and Earth, whom I both liked a lot in other titles, acting in such an over-the-top / comedic manner that I did not bought the relationship between their characters. The acting was not atrocious but I truly feel it is not a very strong point because of the writing and directing leaving them with nothing impressive to do. I also was annoyed quite a bit by the soundtrack : mainly the opening song that I found absurdly annoying.

It is not all negative of course. In terms of production value, it is quite classical for a Thai BL, nothing outstanding but it good enough for the story. I found the set when they travel in the North of Thailand pretty nice. I had fun discovering some actors that I love playing cameos in the series. I also found the last 15 minutes of the last episode pretty enjoyable.

I would not recommend this to people unless over-the-top comedic BL in an office setting is in your alley. If you are a fan of "Middleman's Love" (-which I also disliked), you might want to give it a try as it is pretty comparable with the directing choices, dumb main character and cringy aspects. Overall, it was a miss for me but I think I might not be the right public for that kind of BL drama.

Won me over!

As someone who doesn’t typically gravitate toward comedy or rom-coms, this series was a pleasant surprise. What really elevated it for me was the quality of the acting and good directing, which made it a genuinely worthwhile watch.

Earth's performance, in particular, stood out and surprised me—his portrayal was nuanced and compelling, and it made me appreciate just how versatile an actor he is. It’s great to see both Earth and Mix continue to take on a variety of roles, and I truly hope to see them explore even more diverse characters in the future.

While I didn’t love everything about the storyline—it felt a bit too familiar at times, and some loose ends were unfortunately left unresolved—that didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment. Despite those flaws, I’ll definitely be rewatching it.

Why Do People Like This Show?

I will start with all the actors did an AMAZING job and this review isn't about their acting or how they did their roles. I have no fault at all with them.

That being said, this movie was so disappointing. The high reviews deceived me into believing it was a good show. I did laugh out loud about 5 times throughout the show and First and Khao were the highlight of the whole series. I loved them!

Like I said the actors all around did fantastic, they nailed all the comedic parts and I loved them. The story on the other hand was the main issue for me.

MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW....

First off, the way Heng was written made him seem like he had a mental handicap. He was a 30 yr old man and acted like a 14 yr old child most of the time. I'm not saying that a grown man can't be clueless and happy and a yes man, but this guy was so much worse than that. I don't know maybe it was me, but I had a hard time seeing him as a grown up. He doesn't say no to anyone. Constantly stutters and NEVER says what he means. Nor does he question anyones actions or motives. He just goes alone with whatever anyone tells him and it's frustrating. The bright side to this character was Earth. He did an amazing job and he was so funny. I loved seeing him as a bright cheery person instead of the stoic smoldering 'alpha' type he usually does.

Next we have the boss. This character was HIGHLY inappropriate and crossed so many lines it was kind of disturbing. He stalked Heng, had LOTS of pictures of Heng in a file on his computer, background pic on his phone, and wouldn't listen to a thing Heng said or better yet, let him get a word in. He couldn't or wouldn't read the room either when he was pressuring Heng and making him NOTICEABLY uncomfortable. The boss character was gross in his action and the villain of this show. The actor was awesome, he did a fantastic job and sometimes I felt sorry for his character having a crush on Heng. But then he overshadowed any of that when he pushed his way into Heng's life, lived with him for a year without ANY indication of any romantic feelings or a SINGLE date and then proposes to Heng in the middle of a mall concert and doesn't listen to Heng at any point. Then when Heng loses his memories, the boss uses that to pressure Heng into still marrying him even though he KNOWS Heng loves Mo and was going to call off the 'wedding'. During the wedding if Heng wouldn't have faltered, the boss would have gone through with it, but since he conceded "defeat" we are supposed to think he's a good guy? nope.

Then we have Mo. Good lord that character is a MAJOR selfish jerk. He was such an a hole to Heng. HE DOESN'T COMMUNICATE ANYTHING. Then walks around with a hurt puppy dog face. He plays with Heng's emotions and throws tantrums when he doesn't get his way. He made no sense. He wants to date Heng, Heng finally agrees when Mo says he won't be his friend anymore. Emotional blackmail. Next Mo doesn't want anyone to know they are dating. Mo doesn't want to tell Heng's mom they are dating. Mo goes along with Heng's mom when she mistakes Heng's friend as his girlfriend. Mo's idea, but he punishes Heng for it. Breaks up with him for it. Heng is literally BEGGING Mo, with tear running down his face, not to go because he loves him so much, and Mo still says he doesn't want to be with him or love him anymore and walks out. FOR A YEAR!!!! When Heng loses his memories, Mo just lets him go get married even though he KNOWS Heng is being pressured and doesn't want it. He is just ok with him marrying someone else and possibly being forced to sleep with said icky 'husband' on the honeymoon he definitely did not want. But NOT ONE WORD for Mo. He is such an unlikable character most of the time. It made me want to punch Mix in his beautiful face numerous times!

Then we get to the ending!! Mo and Heng FINALLY get together.........for like a week and then Heng leaves for Japan for THREE YEARS. They get engaged, which was one of the best parts in the show, and that's it. Mo stays in Thailand and Heng leaves for Japan. The End.

Again, I really loved all the actors and the cameo from First and Khao made it worth the pain of the rest of the series. I sincerely did not like the story and kind of wish I would have skipped it.

I wasn't expecting much, because I used to hate the japanese version (sorry If you like it but it wasn't made for me). But it was okay.

It was a little silly and funny. But it was so longgg for nothing. I'm sorry.

Thanks to EarthMix, I didn't lost my motivation to watch it but sometime I was a little bored.
PS: I hate how they treat the boss harassment as funny..

I feel like I have to watch the Japanese version to clear my brain

Some scenes are funny and make me laugh, so I still give it 7. Apart from that, meh. The bad thing is that I'm a fan of the Japanese version so my brain can't help but compare lol maybe my tolerance would be better if I didn't watch the original lol.

Instead of focusing on the love triangle story of Heng, Mo and the boss (like the Japanese version), this story just goes all over the place until the focus becomes unclear. There are too many unimportant characters so that the main characters become shallow because there is not enough time for character development. Then there are too many arcs so like I said before, the focus becomes all over the place and makes the story shallow too. Especially the last two eps, I couldn't enjoy it at all.

If you're a fan of EarthMix, then you can watch it to see EarthMix. But if not, for me it's a waste of time.

One of the better series adaptations out there

As I've said before, Thailand doesn't always have the best track record when it comes to adapting foreign dramas. I've seen them take some of the best Asian or western dramas and butcher them into a convoluted mess. However, with Ossan's Love, they've (sort of) redeemed themselves. Granted, it's not perfect, and there are some flaws that threw me off from time to time, but it's also campy, fast-paced and entertaining. I thought they did a good job balancing the original series and the implementation of Thai elements. You can tell the cast had a lot of fun filming this, hence the excellent character dynamics. EarthMix's acting are on another level. It's refreshing to see them star in something that doesn't involve them trying to survive in the countryside.

Overall, this is a good addition to the already popular Japanese franchise.

so easy to watch and enjoy!

I came in with very few expectations and had SO much fun. EarthMix really outdid themselves with this one. The acting and chemistry as well as the fact that they’re the cutest people ever, makes this an incredibly easy watch. I spent the whole time thinking about what a privilege it is to see their evolution as partners. Their love and respect for each other is so apparent all throughout this series. The music is also hilarious and perfectly fitting. This show was clearly a labour of love for everyone involved. Highly recommend to all GMMTV fans

An outrageous Remake

Like most Thai remakes of Japanese BLs. This didn't come close to the original.

Mo character just came off as pathetic that had no justification as to why he kept running away/letting go of Heng unlike Maki character in the Japanese version was more justifiable.

Heng character was just childish and wasn't funny all. He just acted like a whiny kid the who series.

The whole series just wasn't funny like the original. I was just silly and not the silly funny kind.

The only reason I managed to make it to the end was because of the Boss. Not only did I find him attractive (guilty pleasure, into my older men) but he was the only one that made the series a little bit funny/entertaining.

Another Earth-Mix drama here we come...

After watching the first episode, I decided to watch this week by week, rather then wait to binge it. Cause this is really quite a chaotic drama, I don’t think my mind is going to hold up if I binge it in 1 sitting. Haha…

Anyhow…

Story about one property consultant company & its employees. Heng is the one of the consultants, he's one messy & sloppy guy, yet he's quite attached to his mom, not like mama boy but like his mama takes care of his life from cooking till cleaning. One day, his mama got sick by the sloppy Heng & decided to go from home & threaten Heng to get a girlfriend if not she'll not come back.

Mo, is the other consultant, mo comes from out of town & reassigned back to the company in Heng place. Since Mo had no place to live, Heng asks Mo to live together with him, what Mo just needs to do is cleaning house & cooking for Heng, yeah basically do what Heng’s mother did. Haha…

One day, Heng accidentally sees his boss' phone's screen & is shocked to see his face in it. And not long after, his Boss confessed his feelings for Heng. And since Heng can't quite say NO to his boss, his boss thinks Heng is also reciprocating his feelings. So, the misunderstanding started….

When Heng told Mo about it, turn out Mo also had feelings for Heng.

So… How will their story roll from here… Who will Heng choose in the end…?

That's pretty much the story without giving any more spoilers. Now what I like and don't.

What I like:
+ Quite a unique story about a man who couldn't say NO to his boss & still needed to do all the work with the chaotic feelings.
+ Earth did an amazing job. Never expected I can see this side of acting from Earth.
+ The journey of Heng-Mo-Boss relationships growing

What I don’t like:
- How childish & chaotic Earth behave in the drama. Quite a headache to watch in the first few episodes.
- Not really a fan of the song & all the dancing. Haha…
- Sometimes watching too many Thai’s BL means we already know the couples & that erases the surprise or excitement element in guessing who is gonna end up with who. Like this one, if I just blankly enter this drama without any knowledge about Earth-Mix CP, I’ll just be at the edge of my seat, who will Heng end up with, the boss or Mo or even Chicha.

Don't know to put it in the like or not. But the confuse feeling of Mo. I don’t agree with how he potray his relationship with Heng. Especially these day, when same sex marriage is accepted everywhere, and even legal in Thai. It's like such an outdated topic. Maybe cause this is adaptation from Japan & at that time it's like that in the drama, but for me this topic need adjustment when they did the Thai adaptation.

Overall, it's a chaotic yet fun mess in the end. I am really confused about what score I should give this. Haha…

A Ludicrous Remake- Was it Worth the Wait??

The saying that ‘imitation is the sincerest form of flattery’ is not always true. This series proved that. I shall come right out and say it. This is one of the worst BLs I have ever seen and one of the worst supposed remakes I have ever seen as well. To put it bluntly, this version was fatuous. Everything about it is. The production. The acting. The story. The plot. Hardly any of it even resembles the originality of the Japanese version. That had humanity. It had heart. Most importantly, it had authenticity sprinkled with humor, grace, and tons of human emotions. I can categorically tell you that the original Japanese version of Ossan’s Love was a masterpiece. This is simply a farce. Before you start clutching your pearls and calling me names, let me explain my reasons.

The original story of “Ossan’s Love” is when an older guy, namely a boss, falls in love with a younger employee of his. He goes through a mid-life crisis, which is very intense. But Haruta does not know how to say no to him until he must, and he does. Meanwhile, even though Haruta never thought of himself as gay, when he meets his new coworker, Maki, the two of them fall in love. THAT is the story. It is funny, warm, sincere, poignant, and quite moving. Their characterizations were real. The setups were relatable. While the surrounding people were quirky, they were all believable and relatable. And the outcomes were genuine, honest, and logical, even if they were comically gotten to. In that version, we could see and connect to those characters.
