Familiar Faces , Fading Plot But still seated for Haiba Jin's extra charm!
The consistency from season 1 to season 2 was there ! Haiba Jin was still unhinged and charming and Mikoto retained her endearing awkwardness! The romance was again handled delicately but took bolder steps this season while still maintaining "that" boundary. I did enjoy their interactions and the ensuing frustration.
One of my favourite moments were when Mikoto put Haiba Jin in his place whenever he had saucy ideas. *grins*
But that's it! Lesson 2 felt stagnant. Nothing much was explored!
The characters were still the same as last season! While the story did progress it felt like it was treading familiar ground!!
I do see Haiba Jin being vulnerable in front of Mikoto but it was very briefly touched upon. Maybe I expected a deeper exploration.
Also the side characters storylines were completely undeveloped ! Mikoto's brother's story arc felt completely incomplete and rushed. Honestly I couldn't make myself care for any them.
For me , season 2 felt like a fan service , a follow up to high standards that was set by 1st season!
That said, I loved the acting of both the leads and was totally digging their undeniable chemistry!
The intro song was very catchy!! Also I felt the quality of shots was improved!
Overall , the season 2 is still enjoyable and binge-worthy but when you put it beside season 1 , it sort of loses its shine!
Would still recommend it 100%!

Should have been a special episode only…
Or they should have focused more on Haiba Jin’s point of view. It just did not have much substance for it to be this long. While I still enjoyed all the episodes, the excitement and anticipation from season one was not there. The whole season felt like a filler. There was not much change in the characters, their dynamics, little to no plot/relationships progression. It was just cute and funny scenes with overall maybe 20 minutes of important things happening that had some impact on the plot. Hence it would be better as a longer special episode.
I wish we had a whole season of what we saw in the last episode - finally getting to know Haiba Jin’s side of the story, his struggles. A little bit more of his serious side. Sadly, the majority of the screen time was still us watching Ochiai Mikoto through Haiba Jin’s eyes. More touches, more romantic scenes and more mutual feelings, but somehow I wished for more character’s progression…
I’d be lying if I said I did not enjoy it though. Hashimoto Ryo as Haiba Jin is unreasonably attractive so no matter what he did, I was glued to the screen. Takaishi Akari as Ochiai Mikoto was just as charming (if not even more) as in season one and her witty remarks and breaking the 4th wall comments brought smiles and laughter to my face. I did like how her gloomy nature did not magically vanish between the seasons - the girl is still depressed, but she is getting so much better now, one smile at the time.
I love the visuals and how at times not in touch with reality the show was. I’m sure I’m not the only one who got addicted to the quirky tone Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoshi presents.
Overall, it was not bad, but it has nothing on season 1. Felt like a transition phase, which might be the case if they decide to do season 3.

Give the Teacher an apple.
I really loved the quirky unusual drama Falling High School Girl and Irresponsible Teacher, but I got some explaining to do first. The premise is about a High School Girl who tried to commit suicide, because a boy rejected her. A young Teacher’s assistant saves her and tells her to give herself another chance at love with “him”. Never mind that girls have rejected him five times and he loses all his money gambling on the horses. Could this odd romance match-up change her mind? I debated about looking at this one, because I said that this is going south already (Teacher/Student realationship). However, something told me that this might be satirical. So I watched and it was. ‘Falling High School Girl and Irresponsible Teacher’ is more of a Black Comedy then meant to be taken seriously. However, through this RomCom you learn lots of valuable life lessons. Also called Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoshi Lesson 2.The Male Lead in ‘Falling High School Girl and Irresponsible Teacher’ (J-pop Star Hashimoto Ryo) is heaven sent and could not be more adorable and suited for this role. His acting will floor you. The Female Lead(Takaishi Akari) keeps full control, giving you only small bits of emotion at one time. She is adorable and a comedienne, becoming the straight man to the ML’s manic behavior. The story is imacculate, if you can get past the fact that he is her teacher. The age difference of the two is very close. Each nine episodes are 25 minutes long. That is a total commitment time of less than four hours. Oftentimes minutes (short dramas) are where stars are born and/or tested out. There are two bright future stars hanging in this drama sky. Take a short detour from your Korean Drama List and view the sleeper ‘Falling High School Girl and Irresponsible Teacher’ (2024).
Note: Asian Dramas always get an R rating if there is a suicide attempte or success in the drama. There is no cursing, violence, nor any sex scenes in the Drama.

I came for resolution. Got flashbacks, filler, and secondhand discomfort instead.
Although I enjoyed this drama, this did not quite pack the same punch as the first. It was a watered-down version of the original premise I loved, although no less significant. Here, we see the stronger individuals that the MCs have become, but they could still rely on each other.I am quite unsure how I feel about the brother arc, though. I am not saying that it was an unnecessary addition to the plot, but I would have liked it expanded to include the parents’ role in Mikoto’s abandonment.
While the first season was very self-aware of the implications of presenting a taboo relationship, the second season pushed the envelope further by uncovering their past entanglement. During the first installment, we can excuse this as a mentor preventing a mentee from attempting suicide, as a life-changing lesson, but it is harder to prove the naysayers wrong with this problematic second season.
However, the drama is still very cognizant of the fact that this is a taboo relationship when Mikoto rejects all of Haiba Jin’s advances. She explicitly says she will wait until they are no longer in a teacher-student relationship before being intimate. To this end, we can say that the production is doing their due diligence by not showing any type of skin-ship between the two.
Having said the above, this drama is still a decent watch, although unnecessary. I would have been satisfied if the show had ended with the first season. This is more of a filler for the staunch fans of the pair.

Same ol' romcomdrama~
If you watched the first lesson and like it, this is just another 6 episodes of the same thing, if you didn't like the first season then what are you doing here??First season was great, and because I was a lonely introvert like mikoto I felt her deeply so I immediately welcomed the second lesson.
My case wasn't the same, I wasn't saved by someone and because of that,I appreciate Jin's character even more.
Than been said there is nothing more the second season gave except for the backstory of Haijin and Mikoto, you can watch ep 1 and put two and two together easily understanding everything, but it's still fully explained in the last episode so aside from that it's just the same as the first one.
I loved the comedy that pops out from no where, sometimes expected sometimes not, still cute and fun to watch~
Recommended only for fans of the first season ~~

A Rushed Continuation
The second season of *Falling High School Girl and Irresponsible Teacher* did not disappoint me when it comes to acting. Once again, the performances carried the story.
I genuinely think this series is one of the best manga-to-live-action adaptations I’ve seen. And that’s not something I say lightly.
What impressed me the most is how naturally it translates classic manga elements into live action without feeling awkward
Things that usually look cringey in adaptations; exaggerated reactions, typical manga-style behavior, even characters wearing things like paper bags over their heads (a common quirky trope in manga) — somehow work here. Instead of feeling forced or unnatural, they blend seamlessly into the world of the drama.
Most adaptations struggle with this. When they stay too faithful to the manga’s style, it often feels exaggerated or strange in live action. But this series manages to incorporate those elements so smoothly that I didn’t even question them. It feels intentional and balanced. That alone deserves credit.
That said, I did feel that Season 2 was weaker in certain areas. I haven’t read the manga, so I’m judging purely from a viewer’s perspective. Compared to the first season, this one felt rushed. It wasn’t as deep when it came to exploring trauma and emotional layers which was something Season 1 handled beautifully.
The chemistry between the leads is still there. Their dynamic still works. The romance still feels authentic. But I wish we had gotten more backstory especially about her brother. The show touches on why she is the way she is, but it moves through those explanations too quickly. It almost feels like they rushed to push Season 2 out.
The male lead’s storyline also felt somewhat fragmented. Instead of gradually unfolding, parts of his narrative felt like quick explanations rather than fully developed storytelling.
Another noticeable difference from Season 1 is the smaller cast. The first season had more supporting characters, more faces, more emotional layers around the main story. Season 2 feels more limited in comparison, which makes the world feel smaller.
I just wish they had taken more time more episodes, more depth, more emotional blending to properly finish and expand the story.

Two lonely souls find hope with each other
After binging season 1, I had to go right into season 2 and it did not disappoint! They just kept hitting every mark that I love about dramas. The twists and turns, humor, dark humor, anime silliness, age gap, tricky situations, communication, unwaving love... so many details and nuances. You have to let go of expectations/prejudice and feel this drama. It can be confusing, but it starts to make sense. You just have to get on both the main characters mindsets. 😅
I love flashbacks, when done right, and they tie them together over seasons of a series omg I'm all yours.
I feel like the switching from candy to smoking that Jin did was a way to show him using any means necessary to help suppress his desire push to be official with Mikaoto. Again, the details. Maybe it explains it in the manga. I'm still looking for a place to read it.
This is a fantastic example of a story that can have a whole range of emotions and a deep meaniful story, while bring in hope, and not toxic or gross. These two lonely souls find each other and become each others hope/future and its beautiful. No other way to put it.
I didn't find it weird, creepy, or cringy at all. It's a drama that doesn't have force or sa and so everything felt nautral and easy.
I love their chemistry and the story so much. The way they tied it all back together was just perfect. The ending made me want to rewatch season 1 again and it hasn't been even been 24hrs since I first watched it or heck even knew this story existed 😅. I wish, hope, pray, and grovel for a season 3 and 4.
In season 3, I want to see her graduate and them officially become a couple and do akward and cute couple things. For season 4, I want them to get married and have the family they both want and deserve. Why is it more taboo to show people progress in a full love story, than a teacher/student realastionship? 😭
Congratulations to everyone who worked on and made this. Thank you for making a wonderful drama that filled up my heart. What a fantastic jdrama!!! I will be rewatching these 2 seasons for a long time. ❤️
