Finally a good drama for romance lovers
I’ll start by saying I’m glad we finally got a romance K-drama without a weird ending. The writing was filled with comedy and drama at the same time. Kudos to the writer for not dragging out the depressing parts or falling into the usual trap of historical k-dramas: first half falling in love, second half watching the leads suffer like Adam and Eve. Indeed, there was some suffering included, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected. The leads had great chemistry, which helped cover up a few acting mishaps (reference to last episode). The ending felt a bit abrupt, but at least I didn’t feel like I wasted my time as it is the genre causing the most k-traumas. I recommend this series to everyone who's looking for an easy watch in historical fantasy genre. Was this review helpful to you?
Too shallow for me
I dont have too much to say about this drama other than that I think it was really quite underdeveloped, Theres a few plot points that are introduced but never properly expanded upon or neatly tied up. I wont spoil the ending but I will say that it is not very satisying as those plot points simply became plot holes and unanswered questions. I think a lot of this drama was too simple and unnecessarily unrealistic. I understand its a silly drama for the most part, but personally I enjoy realism within the unrealistic. The acting was fine but not anything extraordinary. For the characters, I will say they were all pretty one-dimensional in my opinion. I also thought the chemistry between the leads disappeared after a few episodes as their characters lost their individuality. Overall, it was okay, I wouldnt recommend it unless youre fine with a really shallow drama. Was this review helpful to you?
My heartaches
Wow. It's crazy to think that a drama like this can be created, it's insanely good. The cast. Phenomenon. I also love how ChaeMin is a huge fanboy of Yoona hahaha.
Also, the Chinese episodes... the girl and Yoona were actually in a drama together. (If u do research... You will know that Yoona is the one who taught her how to speak Chinese). I wish she spoke some Chinese too, but I guess it won't make sense, since she only learned French, and prob English.
The foods... look so good!!! The efforts that went into creating this drama deserve an award!
I love all the cast!!!! I know most of them. But her team.. UGhhh!!! They're the best!! Her cooking team.
Overall... The plot is good. The ending definitely bawled my eyes. 😭😭😭
The chemistry and how they grew stronger was great, her dedication as a chef.. was chef-kissed.
So many hilarious moments haha.
Some scenes definitely irritated me because of these villains..
I'm not a huge fan of historical.. There were times I was ready to let go of this drama, but their chemistry hooked me!
I love how they dramatized the way they ate the foods.
Idk what 3lse to say. I'm so overwhelmed. My heartache na its over na..
Looking forward to their new dramas!!!
Ugh! CHANGMIN IS SO PAKING HOT. HOLY SHAZEL.

It’s a rom-com the hype is going to be high
Yoona really needs to work on her facial expressions. I barely paid her any mind in K2 and King the Land but here her face was stuck on default mode, same look, different scene 😐. Like ma’am, blink twice if you’re feeling something!
And let’s be real: give Kdrama fans a rom-com with a happy ending and they’ll be the happiest people alive. I get that it’s a fantasy drama, but that ending? Ehn… it was just there. No emotional punch, just vibes.
Now ChaeMin his crying face? Unintentionally hilarious 😭. I legit burst out laughing. He tried, bless him, but playing a tyrant isn’t his strong suit. He can still work on it tho!!
Best episode? The Ming cook one 🍲🔥. The food reactions were top-tier, those scenes actually gave life. ChaeMin’s got potential!
Also, someone cast Yoona as a full-blown psycho already. I want to see her go full chaos mode, smiling while plotting & giving villain energy. Let her break out of the pretty-girl box and show us range!
it was nice tho but the food episodes wer the best scenes!!

A comfort watch
Can we first talk a moment to appreciate a korean drama about food actually takes time to talk and showcase the food not just in a quick way but a feel good way that allows the viewers to crave what they see on screen. Now for the story it was an interesting premises as someone who hasn't read the manga i enjoyed some parts of the drama other parts where lackluster and honestly no point. Maybe because it was short i felt like their romance was only showcased in 2 episodes the rest of the episodes where them falling in love and the ending i was confused by alot but honestly it's not a bad drama it's fun easy and relaxing to binge watch i would say its one of the best dramas of 2025 but not one of the best korean dramas of all timeWas this review helpful to you?

My Favorite Actors in an Intricate Storyline
What happens when a batshit crazy tyrant Joseon King who is also a strict gourmet meets a genius chef from the future? It’s mayhem and chaos but in a comic way. tvN’ s “Bon Appetit, Your Majesty” sets the tone for this rambunctious affair from the first episode itself. Award winning chef Yeon Ji Yeong is suddenly thrust into the Joseon era by a mind-boggling time travel transition when she reads the contents of an ancient book, that her father borrowed from his historian friend. There she meets the utterly handsome yet ruthless King Yi Heon. Their first meeting is equal parts hilarious & shocking because it takes a long time before Ji Yeong accepts the fact that she is in the Joseon era. Add to the fact, that she behaves rudely with Yi Heon without knowing his true identity, we have a disaster in making. The show is as flavorful as the dishes that Ji Yeong prepares after she is forcefully appointed as the Chief Royal Cook. Both of our leads butt heads, have abundant arguments while sharing tasty food that is catered to Yi Heon’s picky taste buds.

History, Cooking & Romance
BON APPÉTIT, YOUR MAJESTY (2025) is an excellent and charming Kdrama about a young and brilliant michelin chef that gets thrown back in time to a historical era in Korea, during the time of the Joseon Dynasty. The series is full of comedy and romance, and the aspects of cooking are simply amazing to behold. I don't believe you can watch this show without becoming hungry, as the recipes are all so delicious and visually stunning as well."French Michellan Chef Yeon Ji Yeong wins a top competition but mysteriously lands in Joseon Dynasty, where she must cook fusion royal cuisine for a tyrannical king with an extremely sensitive palate."
Overall, this show was great. The story, while a bit predictable on the whole, was interesting and super enjoyable. The locations and costumes were beautiful and eye catching. The characters and story are both really great as well. Definitely a must watch! Highly recommended for Kdrama fans and foodies alike.
WARNING!! You will most likely get hungry watching this.

Remarkable K-Drama of 2025
Bon Appétit, Your Majesty tells the story of a modern chef suddenly thrown into the Joseon era and for me, it felt both fun and creative, giving a fresh spin on the historical-romance genre. The time travel element wasn’t just a gimmick, it actually tied into the characters’ fates and the emotional core of the drama, making every encounter between the leads feel magical and destined.
I loved how the drama balanced everything, funny scenes that made me laugh, action and palace conflicts that kept me tense, sad and dramatic moments that touched my heart and of course the romance that tied it all together.
The chemistry between Yoona and Lee Chae-min was warm, natural and full of little moments that made their relationship so believable. Their bond grew not just through sweet words but through food, trust and shared struggles inside the palace. Every stolen glance, every scene in the kitchen and every moment they protected each other made the love story both tender and powerful.
Lee Chae-min’s outstanding performance as the king is truly remarkable, he perfectly balanced the strength of a ruler caught in palace politics with the vulnerability of a man deeply in love. Yoona also did a wonderful job and the supporting casts delivered strong performances without any flaws making the drama even more entertaining.
Many may not be satisfied with the ending since it doesn’t explain everything but I was actually okay with it.
It left the door open for me to imagine how he managed to travel to the future to meet her.
It may be a bit cliché or predictable but I can’t deny that it’s truly satisfying to have the happy ending we all want where the ML and FL finally meet and live together in the modern day rather than some tragic plot where one of them dies or they are separated. That’s why I don’t get mad at all.
Between the fantasy premise, the heartfelt romance, the mouthwatering food scenes and the political intrigue, this drama gave me everything I could ask for.
Easily a 10/10 experience!

If We Could Only Rewrite History
After Completing this DramaYou can read my initial review upon watching 8 episodes below. But today, my review is after completing the entire series. Like a well-planned dish, today's review is layered with flavor.
First Layer. What country with a troubled past doesn't want to rewrite history? I read this drama was based on a real Josean king, so I explored the history. During one of the most amazing periods of a country's imperial rule, this king and this period was a stain on Korean history. This is where I love the creativity of screenwriters. Start with the historical but put a spin on it. This drama said "what if?" What if the Josean tyrant king had met the love of his life who kept him from much of his tyrannical behavior, how would history unfold? That's the main plot of this drama. But how to do this. A time travel narrative connected the present to the past. So the heroine travels back in time to sooth the tyrant and change, at least some, of the history.
Second Layer. What if this portrayal has some truth to it? If you read about the reign of Yeonsangun, it is not positive. He is known for purges where many were slaughtered, even royalty. Also, he kidnapped hundreds of girls across the country and forced them to be his personal sexual entertainers and "comfort women." Quite a contrast to the king's portrayal in this drama. However, the plotting of others in this drama is a part of the historical record, and one wonders if this plotting, along with finding out his birth mother and her death was hidden from him, led to such anxiety and paranoia in him it resulted in violence, indulgences, and death. It is a possibility during a time when there was little knowledge or resources for those suffering from mental health issues. I want to take this chance to say that in my research on this king, led me to another Korean production. I watched the movie The Treacherous on Amazon Prime. If you care to see a different portrayal of this king then watch this movie. I will warn you that this is not innocent, nor sanitized like Kdramas are. It's raw, it's reality, it's R-rated, and this king is surely mad. It was good, and the actors portrayal of their characters were amazing!!
Third Layer. The food and the love story. The food was the star throughout almost the entirety of the drama. It was amazing, comical, magical, and I gained 5 pounds just watching it. The two main characters showed chemistry in their attraction to each other which made the viewer glued to their relationship as it progressed. This is the 2nd drama I have watched with Lim Yoon A. The first was King the Land. She had such chemistry with Lee Jun Ho that I'm in awe of her acting skills and have become a true fan. She completely commits to a role, and the results speak for themself. I've seen a couple different dramas with Lee Chae Min as a supporting role. They were superbly acted enough that I knew of his work before his starring role in this drama. His main role as King Yi Heon has surely cemented him as a leading man, I am a fan and look forward to viewing his future roles.
Fourth Layer. The production value of this drama. With the spread of Korean entertainment I have seen dramas go from 36 to 24 to 16 to 12 episodes. Sometimes the compromise destroys the story. Koreans are amazing and superb story tellers when they have the room to develop the story. The proof are the amazing dramas over the last 10-15 years. With the increase in demand, I have seen stories compromised by shortening them for an audience plagued by shortened attention spans, and demanding western streaming services (Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Hulu). I'm saddened by this result. All of this to say that the production value of this drama stayed relatively high. The storyline was superb, my thanks to the screenwriter. The casting director got amazing actors in the right roles. The sets, the scenery, the costumes, the music, the cinematography was all superb. Thank you to the entire production crew. My only complaint, and its minor was the ending was rushed. It would have been nice to add substance to the king's appearance in modern times and exactly how he got there.
Well there you have it. A 4-course serving to a wonderful Kdrama. You will enjoy this production. I promise it is a delicacy worth watching.
It's Food Porn with a Side of Tasteful Fantasy - a review after watching 8 episodes
I'm only up to the 8th episode, but I just had to leave a review to say this is definitely worth watching. The time travel angle and the romance of the story take a back seat to the food. The food is definitely the leading character in this drama. The viewer is taken on a sexy, sultry, yet enchanting trip every time someone puts a bite in their mouth.
First, we get an up close view of the food passing over King Ye Heon's lips and into his mouth. Lee Chae Min's lips should receive their own star on the walk of fame....they are that luscious and enjoyable to watch. Once he begins to chew, he takes the viewer into a fantasy trip of his taste buds and mind. I laugh out loud each time it occurs as it gets more and more outrageous but delightful.
Watching these amazing dishes being prepared and eaten, especially by Lee Chae Min, is truly addictive.

Not your everyday Kdrama
Im a sucker for good looking ML in dramas 🤣 so from watching this drama I became a Fan of Lee Chae Min!First of all, I find this drama something fresh with slight romance.
The story line was good, but what really amazes me was.. the way the ML character somehow suits him and the FL Lim Yoona despite the age gap!!!
This drama had a happy ending, although I think they kind of rushed it and left me with so many what how and really?! It was still a good drama and I recommended it 😍

Love the chemistry but the plot kinda confusing??♀️❤️
The story between the king and Jiyeong is sooo sweet and romantic! Especially the way he looks at her and how he quietly cares for her 😭❤️ so many feels!
But honestly, the plot focused too much on food , too many cooking scenes until the palace part and main story got buried. The pacing was also too rushed, so some scenes felt unfinished.
And seriously, how did the king suddenly appear in the future?! 😭 One moment he's in Joseon, then he's at Jiyeong's restaurant in that black coat looking all handsome 😭🔥Why only he remembers the past while the other chefs or his friends from the Joseon kitchen don't?? So many questions left hanging!
Still, I loved their chemistry .. it's cute, emotional, and the visuals are beautiful 💕🍲
I just hope the mystery of how the king and Jiyeong's friends came back to the future will be explained someday 😭✨
