I love this mini drama.

These years I have been watching loads of Boy-Love-Boy dramas. I don't care people arguing it is bromance or bl. This BLB showed how deeply ML and MC cared and loved each other. I don't care that the drama looks like or similar to other dramas. The actors conveyed emotions into my mind and made me teary. I don't care it is a low budget drama. It was pleasing to my eyes to watch beautiful scenes and pleasing to my ears to listen all the sad songs. It was the first drama that made me pay for the VIP, and the SVIP for the last episode.

I knew from the start from all the beautifully sad posters that I would be sad in the end. That was the reason I gave only 8 for the Story.

Here I am rewatch it again and again.

Sweet Bromance with substance

This series feels like a compact, enjoyable take on Word of Honor. Despite the smaller budget, the fight choreography holds up well, and the costumes and props are thoughtfully done. The actors breathe life into their roles, especially the two leads, whose chemistry is a real highlight. It’s clear they understood their characters and portrayed them with care.

The direction keeps the story flowing smoothly. While the plot isn’t entirely new, familiar ideas can still be beautiful when handled creatively. This is a bromance that leaves a warm, lingering sweetness and plenty of moments that make you smile. I enjoyed it enough to rewatch it, which finally pushed me to leave this review. Highly recommended for fans of bromance dramas.

Lovely bromance, don't miss it...

I'm not interested in BL but I love Bromance, this series is for me after years of word of honor this is beyond my expectations, I just saw 2shorts and I'm into this drama, Both ML are attractive, handsome and perfect roles for world number one martial hero, I can see they loved each other their eyes talks throughout the series, Jianghu broken into pieces after A yu death than the girl, Ayu be like" you protect the world i protect you," I loved their micro expressions, this series into the point and don't have some unwanted stuff and all. I really love this drama very much.

This drama is short but amazing, wish it were longer. It has some similarities to Word of Honor (WOH) but with much less heavy drama. One thing I especially loved is that even after the big reveal, the MLs never had any real or prolonged conflict between them. Their relationship felt refreshing and steady.

The action scenes were amazing, smooth, well-executed, and never out of place. There were no unnecessary dragged-out fights where villains escape repeatedly just to reappear later. I’m honestly so tired of leads refusing to go for the final blow, so this was a big breath of fresh air for me XD. However, for the final scene, it would have been better if they showed a more extended fight, especially for such a powerful leader to just die without a real battle. It was a bit disappointing. Also, Ayu/Ye Yu not having a real fight scene towards the end felt like a missed opportunity (although I understand his circumstances, but still).

I didn’t like how tragic the ML’s life seemed to be. It felt like everyone he calls family just dies. It was constant hardship, and while I understand it’s part of his character arc, it was sad.

The story is very straightforward, which I love, but because of that, it ended up being quite short. Still, the visuals were beautiful, from their ethereal looks to the costumes, music, scenery, atmosphere, and overall ambiance. If I could change one thing, it would be the flute-playing scenes—I wish the actual flute sound had been the main focus over the background music.

The acting was great and never felt awkward. My only real complaint is that it was too short, and the ending was sad. I’m still hoping we’ll get news about a secret ending, fingers crossed!

Would rewatch again and again, well some parts would definitely be skip.

Definitely worth a watch. Perfect if you’re craving a quick bromance drama.

This drama was short but very enjoyable for me. The main leads are incredibly handsome and delivered strong performances. The show was visually stunning- from the cinematography to the outfits and styling. I especially loved the winter scenes. I watched it primarily for the bromance, and it didn’t disappoint. The chemistry between the leads was absolutely electric. I won’t say much about the storyline, as reviewing isn’t my strong suit. I just wanted to share my feelings after finishing it. Huge thanks to everyone involved in bringing this project to life. It’s a 10 for me because if I start a drama, enjoy it, and manage to finish it without any major complaints, then it deserves a perfect score.

Fortunately I have Met Such a Dear Friend in this Life

A cup of wine in the spring breeze
A night of rain in the martial world, ten years of lamplight

I was drawn by countless short from Xiaohongshu or even Youtube. And now I'm dwelling in this last episode for almost 2 hours. My Jiang Hu My A Yu T,T T,T

Story,
I never found such a clean and engaging story from any mini drama. Many said that the story resembles that one drama from Gong Yu, with red robe and flute, but I'm not watching that drama yet so I don't have any comments.
The story itself is like creepes cake, the more layers it has, the more delicious it is served. And I said what I said, this is the most beautiful story that I watched from many mini dramas before. I don't even know that I will love bromance mini drama as hard as in the common long drama.
Moreover, this type of beautiful-yet-tragic drama was my whole core of living.
I know Chinese bromance especially ancient costume drama is always legendary, but now I'm totally whipped. Director, and all of the production team who took part in this, please take my gratitude and live a happy and healthy life!

Acting,
I know Yan Zi Xian and Min Xing Han before, they played many short dramas and other dramas as their cast as supporting characters. I watched most of their work and I know they will do a great job. But to play bromance together? THIS IS THE PAIR THAT I DIDN'T KNOW I NEEDED!
怎么办?我爱上你们了。。。
I fell so deep in love with them T,T what should I do? I feel like watching it one time is not enough.
These two, really can act!
Every single detail of their action was so precise. From the big to the smallest detail, they didn't miss a thing.
Even each character from support, side, or guest do their best to be served. Especially that Little Cutie Pie Rong'Er. Acting director, YOU DID SO WELL!

Songs,
The background soundtrack does justice to every single scene. They are well placed even when the songs are not much. Such a beautiful song for beautiful work!

Rewatch Value and Overall,
Overall, this is the best beautiful-yet-tragic bromance mini drama I've ever watched. I will watch it again in the near future. Now after I write this, I want to dive on the internet to find Yan Zi Xian and Min Xing Han crumbs. I crave for their interaction. I hope they will do second, third, fourth, and more collaborations together in the future!

Really Worth It

Didn't think I'd like this so much. Out of nowhere, this packed a punch. Decent acting. Great chemistry. More than brothers, less than lovers. Mentally locked in for eternity. Coherent plot. Wonderful fighting scenes. Impactful ending. Perfect length to not get bogged down by a convoluted storyline to drag it beyond enjoyment. Believable scenes within the budget. Costuming adequate. Only one frontlace edge was showing but not that noticeable. This truly was a surprise. Worth watching again and again.

Very good tragic drama.

The story is good, consistent and interesting. The characters are convincing and endearing. The chemistry between two heros is excellent. Very good acting by Yan Zixian and Min Xinghan. This is a bromance/light BL drama and it's a great pleasure to watch. It would be really great to have it upgraded to the A category: both the plot and the actors deserve it. There is definitely material for a high budget series. The tragic ending makes sense and is very emotional and I would say satisfying although sad. Unfortunately, to fully appreciate the series one has to pay for subscription on Mango TV, because the free versions available on other websites have awful English AI generated subtitles, to the point of being incomprehensible. It may hinder the exposition of this drama.

Was worth the wait

I'll start with the fact that I love bromance dramas I like them sometimes more than the sexualized bls. You can see and feel the love and care there through the actors eyes and micro facial expressions and it's more beautiful in my eyes.

I don't think this show is perfect but I do think it's one beautiful show.

Wigs were beautiful. Actors are beautiful.

Now let me start with what impressed me the most.

Fight choreography: Chef kiss 🤌 I did not expect it to be as good as it was. Loved it, loved it, loved it!

The rest:

Acting: Was good as well. The moment Jiang Hu smiles when saying A Yu and slowly the smile turned into grief was so heartbreaking. Amazing chemistry between the male leads. So well done, so beautiful. You see the care, the worry for one another and the pain when knowing they'll end up losing the other.
I thought that the little girl could've been better at the first scene where she cried, cuz there were no tears but later on she did cry and did really well.
Yu's shifu was too exaggerated for my taste. If the rest of the normal characters were as animated as him I wouldn't have a problem but it was too out of the blue and the wrong choice for the role imo. Even if the villain was exaggerated it doesn't make sense for him to be that extra imho.

The directing and camera work: Mostly good. There were some moments that I thought a different angle could've worked better but no much to complain about considering that it's made by a pretty new director that only done short dramas.

Now... For the problems I have with the show...

Editing: The colour correction was horrible. There were moments that I felt like I was looking into the sun (especially at the market). Colour grading... also horrible. The entire thing was just a mess.

Plot:
As soon as I started the show, Yan ZiXian, the reason why I came to watch this show (because I've seen him on The Spirealm) was dying which was just great. A really good Mysterious Lotus Casebook dejavu and many more chinese shows. But I was still hopeful cuz I've seen some happy(/open) endings even when all hope was lost. At the end I really thought we were gonna get something good but no... I mean they really couldn't make the poison in the needles be powerful enough to kill the worms and basically not kill Ye Yu? I mean... Really? Is it that hard to give a happy ending? Also Yu's shifu storyline was just so random. I get that it's to show it wasn't the child's fault but it was such a waste of time.
Also we never got to really see the reason why Lu Qin was such a terrifying leader. She didn't seem more powerful than the people working for her. She was just more emotionally unstable which doesn't make her more powerful. I guess you can say that she is unpredictable but we didn't see that either so...
I will give them a point for Ji Niang worrying about her broken fingers simply for the fact that she can't sew anymore clothes for Jiang Hu. That was really well done. Just a shame to see her suffer just to die instead of keeping her alive and having a cp with the medicine man and making a good family for Rong Er while Jiang Hu travels the world in order to deal with his grief, which again could've been avoided but 🤷‍♀️

Chinese censor board seriously needs to chill out.

This series is so WOH coded. There are soo many similarities, from the plot to the characters to the aesthetics. Some portions even feel like a scene by scene replication. It's not a bad thing though. It's obviously a low budget production, & it shows in every aspect. The action sequences are fun. The cinematography is pretty. The acting is okay. The available subtitles are bad, so a lot of context is being lost in translation.

I wish it was made better, it had potential. The leads had chemistry & there is no heterosexual explanation for the way they look at each other. A lot of people will be confused with the FL, but she is more like a sister & also dies. The story is so sad, the MC loses everyone he ever loved & his fate is left ambiguous.

I don't know if this one is worth it. It's sad ending & nothing spectacular. Only around 15min each episode, so a quick watch. I dont understand why they make such short low quality series. Will there be any monetary gain? idk. Ultimately the viewer's decision to skip it or not.

Outstanding short-length wuxia drama

I found out about this story by chance and started watching without much expectation. But this short low-budgeted drama pleasantly surprised me in everything! Very solid plot. Outstanding acting. Emotional depth. Decent fighting scenes. Music and overall vibe. The whole team did great job and this drama definitely deserves more rating and recognition.
Yan Zi Xian and Min Xing Han put 100% effort in acting, which was neither stiff nor exaggerated. I think the story is well-paced: relationship between their characters deepens gradually, and there you see affection, care and love. They made me watch their scenes on repeat.
My reaction to the ending? I'm sad, of course, but that doesn't stop me from appreciating the story. If the drama has high-quality plot and acting and engages me so much, I can accept sad finale. Sometimes it sticks to your heart even more...
So yes, this drama is very good, and I strongly recommend it.

After a year of waiting… A drama that finally lives up to The Untamed.

The latest short drama from China. I fall in love with this. Fans of The Untamed will definitely love this.

At first, I was a bit hesitant because the video quality seemed blurry and not very sharp. But as I continued watching the next episodes, the image quality kept improving and became even more beautiful. The zoom-in, zoom-out, lighting, and camera angles were absolutely stunning.

The acting is solid, through their facial expressions , body language, they managed to convey emotions very effectively. I really love the chemistry between the two main leads. The visuals are also captivating. There’s one photoshoot scene with a winter background that looks incredibly beautiful, almost like being in a fantasy. The OST music matches each scene perfectly with the right timing. The martial arts choreography is the second strongest point that makes this drama stand out.

After years of searching for a drama with the same quality as The Untamed, I can say this short drama has become my No. 1 Chinese short bromance drama.

Each episode is about 11–14 minutes long, but it feels like an hour because I keep replaying the scenes. That’s how good and impressive this drama is.

It’s rare to find a short drama with such a solid plot. The connections between each part of the story are strong and meaningful, with real development. Not boring at all. Honestly, this drama is even better than some full-length Chinese dramas.

The only downside is that it’s too short. I’m left wanting more.
For the flute scenes, I was a little disappointed. They should have focused on the actual flute sound instead of using background music.

And yes, prepare some tissues, because this drama is sad from beginning to end.
As of writing this review, I’m still waiting for the SVIP episodes. Hopefully, there will be a twist at the end. And i need season 2 with a long drama.

Highly recommended.
