Strong start but I fear it's losing steam!

I was absolutely hooked on the first six episodes of this drama, and I really loved it despite its cringe Wattpad moments, but the last two episodes have become a bit too much for me. I expected a bit of a lack of realism, but certain actions taken by characters are completely illogical and unrealistic (like against the laws of physics unrealistic) and some of the characters who are supposed to be likable have begun to irritate me with their demanding things from the FMC. The MMC is unlikeable and cruel at times, and really the second lead is why I still stick around because he is amazing. It's going to break my heart when she doesn't pick him though :(

Overall, it's chaotic and fun, but also unrealistic and cringe at times and you have to turn your brain off a bit to enjoy it. I hope to raise my rating in future episodes as I'd originally rated this 8, but we shall see!

All Over The Place

I had heard a bit of the hype surrounding this drama. A reel and a friend made me decide to finally start watching without knowing anything about the plot. Just based on the poster I figured it is a high school drama with romance and that's all I knew.

I'll start with the main positives because the negatives list is long. I binged the entire show in 2 days so it is interesting for the most part especially in the beginning. I also liked the female lead, Jay-Jay and the second male lead, Yuri along with a few side characters like Ci-N. The female lead is quite a decent actor and emotes extremely well. I could connect to her but I feel like her character was let down a bit. The theme song also grows on you (I found it irritating initially).

The not so great aspects:
1. The very first episode begins with bullying of the female lead who is new to the school and her class is full of only boys. They gang up on her and the teachers don't even care. Only 1 teacher advises her to change sections. It makes no sense because they frequently punish and even suspend students so why do they ignore the bullying? That really pissed me off. For example, they banned the whole class from the cafeteria without giving them an alternate way of buying and eating food at the school. And later they ban the FL for buying food for them. Quite ridiculous.
2. The male lead, Keifer, forcefully kisses the female lead twice. His plan to make her fall for him and then break her heart to get back at her cousin brother turned me off from him. Plus he was her main bully even before he knew she was Aries' cousin. The only reason my anger towards him subsided after the forced kiss is because Jay-Jay punches him in the face and I felt instant gratification.
3. After about 4 episodes, I found the series addictive and I was curious where the rivalry was going. I was going to rate the drama a 9 at the time. But with each episode they kept adding so much drama. Like unwanted pregnancy, rival gang and kidnapping, illegal fight den, date rape drugs, previously dead step-brother, creepy step father and return of the missing father, LGBT couple, problematic sibling, sad back stories to multiple extras, etc. But because of all these stories, they forgot so much of the set-up.
4. This brings me to next point. They introduced the female having issues with blood leading to traumatic meltdowns and amnesia. And then they forgot about it completely. It was only used as a plot point to get the male lead to comfort the female lead who otherwise was a very strong person.
5. Another back story they forgot is they brought a student back from the dead who claimed that Jay-Jay's brother was actually around her, hinting at her cousin. Then nothing came of this storyline. Even her missing father just left after 1 brief meeting.
6. Keifer, the male lead, kept insisting that he was just leading Jay-Jay on and still planning to break her heart. Meanwhile Yuri, the second male lead was falling for her. So the guy she was supposed to end up with is a walking red flag who refuses to apologise even when he broke her nose and his friend is a green flag who is nice to her. That's why it started making me really uncomfortable because in good conscience I could not root for the the male lead. On the bright side, she was also confused between the two and they don't immediately force a decision on her.
7. I expected at some point that Jay-Jay would be told about the plan to break her heart but either they decide it's not important to the plot or forgot about this as well.
8. The acting. The female lead carried the show tbh. Most of the cast are just too new and the acting was passable. The romance was cute at times but was mostly meh and the dialogues were cringe a lot of the times. Actors playing Yuri, Aries (the cousin), Daniel, etc were some of the better ones. So that's another reason why I couldn't really connect to the male lead.
9. The ending. I can only presume there is some second season coming which is why the series ended the way it did. That whole situation was just so unjust. I feel bad for both Jay-Jay and Yuri.

Despite all this, I'm giving the drama a 7 because I can see the effort behind the drama. I don't mind the added storylines because it maintained my interest and they tried to highlight a lot of issues that teenagers deal with so I respect the thought process. It is just that the acting wasn't as convincing. I would have liked to see some actual friendship between the male leads besides the plotting. Their story just revolved around the female lead. They don't really talk much else.

If a season 2 is in the works, then that might improve my rating of the show. Especially if they address the plot holes.

Who shall it be?

Ang Mutya ng Section E, where the story is about a well-known all-boys class which is soon thrown into chaos when a confident and clever girl, Jayjay, transfers in. She's the first female student they've had for a while, and not everyone is happy about the change, especially the class president, Keifer. He sees her as a threat to the way things have always been and does everything he can to make her leave. But as they argue and challenge each other, the class starts to shift, and both the boys, and the president, begin to see things in a new perspective.

Honestly, I went into this just for sillies since I'd seen clips of it on my socials, but I didn't expect to be this immersed into it. Its my first Filipino drama, and there may be more to come, but it's definitely a rollercoaster. It's not just the love stories that unfolded which caught my attention, but also the whole friendship as a whole. The first friendship that caught my attention was Jayjay and Ci-n, which also is the reason I fell in love with Ci-n, along with his actor Charles Law. I think this series just brings a sense of family even without being biologically related. It a story where they'll fight for each other as they love them very dearly. I like these kind of stories, but this one felt different. I can't put my finger just on why, but it's definitely there.

(SPOILER‼️)
Who shall it be? Keifer? Yuri? Neither? Maybe they should get together since they seem to like the same people, maybe they can give each other that love. BUT Aside from the friendships that blossomed during these 16 episodes, the love story, or stories, also were quite eye-grabbing. She had both Yuri and Keifer looking at her, and as much as I want Yuri to get the girl, we all know he's the second lead and just like always, the second lead never gets the girl. Theres a bunch of people who have read the books that are saying things about Yuri, but I'll have to wait and see that. All I know is that being so attractive, looks and personality wise, to get BOTH of the top guys in your section?? Damn Jayjay?? Either way, I'm team Yuri, at least I think..
(END OF SPOILER‼️)

Let's get off of the story now!! Let's go to the acting..boy was it something. Listen, I'll let it slide just for the fact a lot of the actors are new. But that doesn't help the fact that it was a bit of a hard watch. Andres Muhlach, who plays Keifer, might have just been one of the worst ones. I didn't see much emotion, and it bothered me. I'm not saying he doesn't have room to improve, since he's probably got years ahead of him, but I hope his next project will be more..full? Other than that, it just seemed low-ish budget for the acting. Maybe it's just because of how it's my first Filipino drama, but it didn't seem right. I've seen better, but I've also seen worse, so I tried to not let it affect my rating too much.

Overall, I think even though it wasn't like a top budget series, I enjoyed it a lot. Honestly, Ang Mutya ng Section E really surprised me. I thought it would just be a fun watch, but it turned into a touching story about change, friendship, and growth. What I loved most wasn’t just the romance, but how the characters formed strong, family-like bonds. Jayjay really shook things up, especially for Keifer, and seeing their relationship change was both annoying and satisfying. In the end, this series gave me more than just fun, it gave me characters to love, friendships to admire, and a final episode I won't forget anytime soon.

THE DRAMA intensifies… but NOT in a good way

It feels like a childish show made for delusional teenage girls. Originally a Wattpad story—so honestly, what did you expect? The acting is mediocre at best, and the storyline? Completely chaotic, full of clichés, and lacking any real logic.

I only watched it because I was bored and needed to kill some time. To be honest, I cringed so many times that it actually became kind of funny. Keifer’s character is awkwardly written, and Yuri just gets plain weird in the last few episodes.

If you're bored, want to waste some time, and are in the mood for a typical Wattpad love triangle with cheesy lines and unauthentic acting—go for it. Just don’t expect a masterpiece.

Very repetitive and would NOT recommend

I will be breaking this into different sections to highlight the many things that went wrong with this show.

STORY/PLOT:
I don't know what I expected from a Wattpad story that is still ongoing. reading the book had me second guessing everything... they put serious topics like r@pe, manipulation and SA into the story but instead of raising awareness they are instead brushing past it like dust. JJ almost go r@ped but the next day its as if it never even happened, she was drugged and was legit seconds away from becoming a victim and yet nothing at all to spread awareness about how sick that is. The show had too many filler episodes, if I had to actually count I would say only about 5 episodes are actually needed out of the whole 16. There were so many unnecessary things but I'll just get into those later.

CHARACTERS:
the characters were all horrible in a sense.
KEIFER: the traumatic kid who doesn't want to end up like his abusive father who ends up being a jerk for most of the show. since I read the book, I couldn't really be mad at Keifer at all. His whole childhood is just too sad and seriously traumatic, not to mention him having to take care of his siblings at such a young age. his whole " I don't apologize' attitude was annoying, like bro it doesn't cost much to simply apologize for being a jerk.
JJ: I actually liked her at first but then she just got annoying, her meddling into other people's business might have saved them but it was so unnecessary and also just annoying. Her jumping to conclusions is also so utterly infuriating... girl please take a moment and try to understand the situation before jumping to conclusions.. you don't know their story so stop. Her getting herself in trouble every single day and needing Section E but mostly Keifer to come and rescue her was simply just rage bait, like girl stand up and stop causing trouble.
YURI: before I even read the book I knew for a fact that something was wrong with this guy first of all, his whole I Love JJ BS was never matching with me in the books and especially in the show. So many Yuri fans made me so mad because they claimed he was such a nice guy and a green flag but bro had all the time in the world to warn JJ of the plan but he never did, and he takes everything as a freaking competition... like just chill. The engagement was the icing on the top for me, not only did JJ tell him that she likes Keifer, she also rejected his proposal but he still managed to force her to get engaged by using her families bankruptcy as a leverage... like what??? and then he acted as if he had nothing to do with it.
SECTION E: nothing much, they were funny but at times could be annoying, like how do they all have issues that they refuse to solve and are waiting on someone else to help them out like what....
JJ FAM: one of the worst families to ever exist. The fact that they didn't even think about asking for her opinion on this whole engagement is actually crazy work. And then they had the nerve to tell her that if she hates it she can call it off, after they have already publicly announced it and they they proceeded to guilt trip her and saying well if you don't get engaged with Yuri then we will go bankrupt and it will be your fault like what... she is 17 yrs old....

ACTING:
one of the worst acting I've ever encountered.... JJ's acting was watchably good but it wasn't spectacular, everyone else was just horrible... I legit couldn't really keep on watching because the acting was imply so embarrassing but I understand that they are all newbies to the industry.

MUSIC:
some absolute bangers were introduced to me through this series, the miss universe song is stuck on repeat and that tibok one too, not to mention daleng.

CHEMISTRY:
the only reason why I wanted to stay til the end, the chemistry between JJ (ashtine) and Keifer (Andres) was just impeccable, both on stage and off stage.... but I don't know why their agency has been pushing Yuri (rabin) with ashtine more than Andres considering they are the main couple.

LAST EPISODE:
this is what I've been waiting for... no unnecessary plot but most of all KEIFER was actually acting instead of reading a script.
this was truly the best episode by far.. it makes me want to wait for a season 2 and is also the only reason why I didn't rate this show a 4.5

OVERALL:
just don't waste your time on this show, it made me lose brain cells!! from the acting to the characters, to the horrendously written wattpad story.

What the hell did i just watch.

Guys, I don't usually write a review. But for this I have to write.
Started this drama thinking that it will be a good time pass story with sweet and cute moments and will ne nostalgic since it involves a whole class.................But nothing as such.
Acting was terrible, don't why they choose such bad cast like this. Thought that it will become better in upcoming episodes but it was becoming too horrible
And the plot was too bad. Like come-on, they did everything except studying. Driving, drinking, fighting, gang war, kidnapping, sexual assault, getting pregnant at high school and what not.
Definitely will not recommend to re watch or first time watch.

Only good thing was, GAT.

Story thrives part because of nostalgia and part because of the high school romance setting

I remember being obsessed with wattpad back in the day, particularly with books that had stories like this (The Bad Boy's Girl FTW). this story is old and wattpad back then used to be problematic but the director could have tweaked the story a little to make keifer lesser red flag and be more suitable to today's audience. in this day and age when everyone is very aware of boundaries and what behaviour counts as red flags, how am i supposed to ship the FL and the ML when the ML has literally broken her nose? and the acting of the ML is so bad, even scenes where he is supposed to be feeling emotional and stuff, it's difficult to believe it.

The SML, according to the ones who have read the book, is supposed to be a horrid manipulative guy and I waited patiently till ep 16 to start hating on him. But I couldn't. How can I? Till the end he has been portrayed as a guy who is just trying to protect the woman he loves from the bad guy. After the last episode, one can't even root for JJ for uniting (somewhat) with the guy she loves. It looks more like she is an idiot and that Yuri was wronged and since Yuri's acting is better, it's more easy to feel bad for him because you can feel the emotions somewhat.

Andres somewhat redeemed himself in the last episode and his acting was a bit more convincing but absolutely nothing will erase the way he said "are you deaf? leave" in the initial episodes. Acting as bad as that can make anyone turn in their graves.

Just watch to make your life more fun

It's just so FUNNY i'll be giggling for more 10 mins after watching each episode. I came to watch it since there were just too may reels/ edits and Dalen Dale tiktok I HAD TO WATCH IT. It's my first Filipino drama and it left a good impression on me. The plot is not really anything but the chemistry is cool and I would rewatch it in few months. See this drama portrays strong bond in friendship and family but besides that there nothing much to take. Its fun and engaging.

WATCH IT TO ENTERTAIN YOUR LIFE.

P.S. Ashtine is soooooo cute.

The shine of the jewels of Section E faded as we dived deeper!

All the things we watched were pure nonsensical and dumb. At first, I enjoyed it because of the precious bond of the classmates with Jay-Jay. It was really exciting to watch her winning over her classmate's heart one by one, but as we proceeded with the storyline, it just made no sense. Unruly rich high school kids doing all illegal things and not getting a simple scolding from their parents, but Jay-Jay getting punished for the slightest mistakes was ridiculous. I really disliked how Jay-Jay got tossed around and her brother, cousin, Keifer, Yuri...all the men in her life just shut her up, bossed her around and dominated all the time. It was not nice, not romantic or fun, it was insulting at times.

From the bottom of my heart, I love David and Ci-N, and I'm not interested in either Keifer nor Yuri. Both of them are dumb af. But the MVP of this drama was Daleng Dale song. It was the best OST of the year.

Looks like we will be having season 2 because this is not the end. Till then, if you are looking for something mindless and don't mind idiots bullying a girl and seeing her life getting fckd up, then you're welcome to watch this. But please don't expect sensibility and seriousness because it's a Wattpad drama in the end. Keep your expectations at bay.

enemies to lovers (giving boys over flowers)

AHHHHHHHHH I LOVE THE CAST AND THE OST, AMAZING AMAZING
when i found out ash and andres are tgt for real i scream they are soo cute!! and Ci-N is like their child (he's literally son core)!
everytime yuri came on (okay maybe because im japanese) something about him was just off broooo, and just very cringe. the only thing i like about him was the song that he sang to jayjay.
this drama is like a found family x love triangle trope.
