At the moment I am hungry. Not only for food, but for more episodes of this drama. I'm a big fan of Park Jihoon so I decided to tune in when the cast was announced.This drama is a comedy, not too intense of a watch compared to Jihoon's other projects. And that's ok with me! I like watching actors do all sorts of different roles and projects, and Legend of the Kitchen Soldier is no different. It's fun to watch, but one thing I'll comment about Jihoon's characters is that 9/10 times the guy is going to play someone depressed. Even with that being the case here, it's not a dark drama, his character is likeable enough.
I'm not getting anything too stellar here. Everything pretty much delivers as it should.. it's neither too amazing.. definetely not bad at all though. It's pretty hard when I compare this to Jihoon's other dramas, Weak Hero is one of my favorite dramas ever. If you come for that, don't- come for a drama that's entertaining, fun, and makes you hungry. I was surprised with how they push the comedy, and only worry about tonal issues later on in the series if they bring up a deep plot point. I wish this would be more episodic like Trauma Code, but it's ok that it's not. Here this drama is standard, not doing anything new, but not offensive. So I'll say it's average and move on with it.
It's good enough I'm keeping up as it airs though! I'm just happy to be getting more projects from Jihoon.

A perfect series with the perfect ending.
I love how light hearted it felt, no dramatic dip into melancholy.The friendship between the soldiers, a breath of fresh air from the usual soldier bullying dramas.
And as usual Park Ji hoon delivers, his eyes rather.
The supporting cast was absolutely marvellous too.
With it being that light yet they managed to move us to tears at the end, how incredible.

So funny!
honestly didn’t expect Episode 1 of Legend of the Kitchen Soldier to be this entertaining 😭 I laughed out loud so many times because the comedy timing was genuinely good and the chaotic energy never felt forced.What made it even better for me was Park Ji-hoon. He played the role so naturally that every expression and reaction made the scenes even funnier and more lovable. You can already feel the charm of his character from the first episode alone.
The episode did a great job balancing comedy, character moments, and that slightly emotional undertone that makes you want to keep watching. Definitely hooked already.

Light and Tangy Series
I dig the concept because it's a mix of a few concepts1. Solo Leveling the Anime so the main protagonist has quest/events/experience to gain
2. Food Wars (Shokugeki no Soma) which basically about cooking and their clothes blowing up in ecstasy over the food
It's very light so nothing drama heavy or edge of the seat type of business.
I didn't find anything like hilarious but it was a good light heart watch so I can't really complain all to much. I think the acting however I felt the main protagonist acting zoned out should have been something deeper but in some scenes he became too human.
There's like a little sprinkle of love so if you're into lovey dovey stuff this ain't it. It's got a lot more focus on cooking than most other shows to be frank.
I actually want to see how season 2 turns out because season 1 was a delightful watch and I'm usually pretty picky.

a drama so fun i didn't want it to end
i found the legend of kitchen soldier completely by accident. i didn't even know this drama existed until i saw people on a forum saying it was hilariously funny. after watching a few clips, i immediately understood the hype. the story follows kang seong jae, a young man who enlists in the military and ends up working in the kitchen, where he slowly learns to cook through a mysterious virtual quest system. the premise is simple, but the way the drama executes it is absolutely brilliant. the funniest part is how it visualizes people's reactions to seong jae's food—one bad dish makes you feel like you're drowning, another throws you into the middle of a battlefield, and one meal is so good they literally give us a three-minute music video. every dish comes with its own ridiculous and creative reaction sequence, and somehow it never stops being funny.what surprised me most is how comforting this drama feels. i never felt pressured to know what would happen next because every episode was simply enjoyable on its own. this is comedy done right. the character development is genuinely good, and the cinematography is wildly imaginative. one moment you're watching soldiers eat lunch, and the next you're transported into a completely unexpected visual adventure. i even got emotionally invested in the puppy treat arc—something i never thought i would say about a military cooking drama. and yes, this show will absolutely make you crave food while watching.
by the end, i found myself hoping for a second season, not because the story feels unfinished, but because i enjoyed spending time with these characters so much. i still laugh thinking about seong jae winning first place against actual five-star military chefs. maybe his food reminded everyone of childhood, home, and their mothers while they were stuck in military service—but professionally speaking, losing to a guy whose greatest weapon is homemade comfort food must have hurt a little. then again, drama is still drama

Military Soup with XP Points
Becoming a Cooking Soldier Legend tries to mix military comedy, cooking drama, gamer fantasy, romance and supernatural mystery all at once… and never fully commits to any of them.The biggest problem is not the absurdity of the premise.
Absurd comedies can work perfectly.
The problem is that the series relies too much on gimmicks instead of personality.
Floating HUD screens, experience points, unlocked skills, mysterious crows, dramatic soup reactions… everything feels engineered to look quirky rather than naturally funny.
The main character could have worked much better as:
a rebellious but brilliant cook,
constantly breaking military rules while being tolerated because his food keeps morale alive inside the barracks.
That alone already had enough comedic potential.
Instead, the series turns him into a passive “chosen one” with videogame mechanics attached to his personality.
And yes, from episode 1 you can already predict the romantic setup:
the misunderstood outsider and the competent female commander who will slowly become the only person capable of understanding him.
Maybe some viewers will enjoy this type of light fantasy comfort show.
But personally, after two episodes, I could not find a strong enough reason to continue watching ten more.

Si buscas justicia y salvación, ésta es una serie qye te consolará, además de hacerte reír. Las reacciones a los sabores de la comida están teatralizadas y les da un toque muy cómico si se permiten esa licencia 😆. Yo se las recomiendo la verdad, la pasé bien viéndola 😂👍El primer cocinero que termina por asistir al protagonista fue mi favorito ¡¡excelente actor comediante!! Aunque la verdad, todo el casting fue impecable en su comedia 💯

Divertido sem ser completamente ridículo
A história tem um senso de humor bobo, mas intercalado com assuntos sérios e uma pegada bem equilibrada que deixa a história divertida, sem chegar ao ridículo. Ver Kang Sung Jae preparar comida e a forma como ele começa a se relacionar com outros personagens é muito satisfatório. A Strong Start for The Legend of Kitchen Soldier
I just watched the first episode of The Legend of Kitchen Soldier, and it already feels like a very promising series. The first episode does a great job of showing what the story will be about while still keeping things exciting and interesting. It has a strong beginning that immediately pulls you into the world of the drama.The cast looks amazing and the characters already feel fun and entertaining. One of the biggest surprises for me was Park Ji Hoon. He really shows a different side of himself in this drama compared to the more depressive or school-themed K-dramas he usually does. This feels like a real comeback series for him, and he fits the role perfectly so far.
The mix of action, emotion, and comedy worked really well in the first episode, and the cinematography also looked great. Even after only one episode, I’m already attached to the characters and curious about what will happen next.
I seriously can’t wait for the other episodes!
