good but not a top for me

Really not sure how to feel about this?

It was a good drama very cute but near the end I got a bit lost and I couldn’t figure out the gloves no gloves it was a bit mixed at points .. butttt my main confusion started when they were in the hotel rainforest and he got a nose bleed? But nothing came from it no more nose bleeds no more nothing it was very strange! And thennn a big part of the show was his heart read increasing I thought this might impact the storyline and again it didn’t??

All in all I loved the actors and the idea of this storyline but it just fell a bit short for me..

Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin Power an Electrifying Rom-Com in Take Charge of My Heart

Take Charge of My Heart delivers a delightfully creative, heart-warming fantasy rom-com that hooks you with its out-of-the-box premise and undeniable lead chemistry. Kim Young-kwang is absolute perfection as chaebol heir Baek Ho-rang, looking effortless in the classic wealthy-lead aesthetic, while Chae Soo-bin brings an innocent, sunny brightness as Na Bo-bae that perfectly balances his guarded demeanor. Their mutual reliance—grounded in the hilarious yet endearing premise of her acting as a literal human battery for his failing artificial heart—makes for a deeply sweet slow-burn dynamic. Watching Ho-rang gradually lower his walls to let her in, while Bo-bae sheds her self-consciousness to accept his affection, creates a genuinely touching emotional arc. Kim Young-kwang’s character development is a standout highlight; seeing his soft side emerge alongside laugh-out-loud comedy makes him thoroughly charming to watch. While the overall story maintains great pacing and keeps you completely invested in their journey, the finale leaves a bit to be desired, wrapping up somewhat abruptly with loose ends that feel slightly unresolved. Nevertheless, the magnetic romance, unique high-concept writing, and joyful performances make Take Charge of My Heart an immensely fun and satisfying watch.

Charged and electrified my romcomyyy heart .. it's well made down to every detail and cliche

The premise is a fantasy romcom and it delivers that perfectly , full of heartfelt beautiful moments , and funny moments and amazing direction , i have to say everything was so well done , the events and sequence were so timely , everything happened when it needed to happen , i think the plot is well put together, there aren't any holes ( apart from how he acts after his heart surgery immediately lol but come on you guys it's a romcom.. it's not that serious or important in my opinion ) or any dragging , acting so so good and not to mentions the OSTs , WOW , I LITERALLY LIKE ALL OF THEM wow

what makes you attached to such dramas, is how good the acting is , like these actors man they aren't acting at all , like they truly become the character , and they leave you so attached to them .. beyond touching and skillful performances by the leads , kim young kwan and chae soo bin , like truly it didn't feel like acting at all, not a minute did it feel fake or exaggerated it was so natural, it's rare these days , truly sometimes i feel like an actor is really acting or underacting or overacting , here i didn't see actors i just saw the characters that's what i love about watching kdramas .. and they really couldn't have picked anyone else for bae ho rang and na bo bae than kim young kwang and chae soo bin , they're both phenomenal , he's so expressive and talented and i especially love him as a man devastatingly and foolishly in love and whipped for the FL and again no one does such unhinged fantasy plotlines as natural and enjoyable as soo bin, she's such a natural and so pretty , there was a pickachuuu scene hahahahahha i could've died from how cute she looked there , she always looks cute tho man i can't with her i loved her hair tbh and i loved how they kept it through out the whole drama

Everything is so great from the build up to the emotions to , story wise from plot to the conflict and resolution because this is a fantasy and romance we had two conflicts and two resolutions , how the leads meet , everything builds up then get together was just so perfect and timely especially it gave me butterflies and gets me looking at this imaginary ghost in my room for a reaction lol if you know the meme ugh that i adore this kdrama is an understatement.

the interactions between them are so good since the start , there's already so much tension ugh , and i watched it slowly savoring every bit , it started really silly unserious but ultimately fun and enjoyable , also the ml isn't as lovable at first , he does start grumpy ( but it was funny ) but oooo what becomes of him later on and like pretty quick the shift and character growth is beautiful to follow; the soft caring considerate man he becomes, HE IS THE CUTEST. They do a really good buildup between them, so there's a lot of awkwardness that ended up turning into tension and electric chemistry too, but there's also comfort and familiarity, and playfulness in a way. and then THE AMOUNT OF GIGGLES YOUNG KWANG GAVE ME AS HE WAS PINING AND SMILING LOOKING AT HER OR THINKING OF HER LIKE A FOOL IS CRAZY UGHHH AHAHHAHA , GOT ME GIGGLING , KICKING MY FEET ( IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE) I JUST ADORE IT

they do a good job with the FL's fear of not being accepted by the one she love and fear of only hurting those she loves, the way the ML deals with it was to die for , really it was so refreshing to watch how he waited was considerate of her distance and space, he never pushed and patiently lovingly waited until she came around then he seized the moment , ran after her, confessed , reassured her WHAT A MAN UGH chills literal chills I wish i could tell you more but maybe i'll do that in an ep 7 review so maybe go find it later cause i wanna keep this as spoiler free as possible

but then again it was among the best build up , confession and kiss i have seen it's also been a while since a couple made me feel .. and ooof their kiss , so heartfelt, full of emotions , i watched steamier kisses than this ( like dream to you) for instance and it didn't make me feel half of what i felt watching theirs, it was sweet, reassuring, build up between the emotions of the lead , and their feelings for one another everything was so perfect and timely , not earlier to lose momentum, but later with consideration to fl's emotions , which made it deeper and more meaningful

that's how i want my Kdramas , hit me right in the FEELS , so glad i was affected by it cause this year i started to feel like maybe something is wrong with me , maybe kdrama no longer affect me or make me feel that much anymore but no i was wrong, thankfully sometimes it takes a good romance , everything is done right here even the cliche stuff , not a single complaint do i have .

The second issue was his heart and his surgery and her electricity problem then i also liked how they dealt with resolving the electricity issue which is the big deal of the drama i think they did a phenomenal job at that to be honest , and they did it in such a powerful way in my opinion , again nothing rushed , good explanation and then everything is smooth sailing in this kdrama.. i really enjoyed the finale , most of the time things go awry when the leads get together or it's boring , this is not at all like that , not a dull moment, it's either fun or exciting or sweet or heartfelt or like kinda sad and emotional , i adored it

this is among my faves of this year , top of the list , an easy comfort rewatch too when i need something good and easy to follow and fun , some other romcoms this year were really good at first but lost the premise or dragged or had too much filler plot lines that turns them from great to could’ve been better, that’s why others truly pales in comparison .. this was so worth the wait , a kdrama like kdramas if you know what i mean with older classic feels like in 2016, I'M BEYOND IN LOVE

A Really Fun and Enjoyable Romcom! ❤️✨

Honestly, I enjoyed Take Charge of My Heart way more than I expected. It’s one of those dramas that you start watching for fun and end up getting completely invested in. The chemistry between the leads was definitely one of my favorite things about this drama. Their interactions, banter, funny moments, and romantic scenes made the whole experience so enjoyable. I loved how naturally their relationship developed, and they genuinely made me smile whenever they were together. ❤️

What I liked most was how entertaining and lighthearted the drama felt. It had the perfect mix of comedy, romance, and some emotional moments without making things too heavy. The story might not be the most groundbreaking, and a few things could have been handled better, but honestly, I had such a good time watching it that I didn’t mind much. Sometimes, you just need a drama that makes you laugh, keeps you interested, and gives you a couple worth rooting for.

I’m pretty satisfied with the ending, although I do think it could have been better. I wanted a little more from the final moments, especially after getting so attached to the characters. Still, it didn’t ruin my overall experience, and I finished the drama feeling happy with what I watched.

Overall, Take Charge of My Heart was a really enjoyable romcom with great lead chemistry, plenty of funny moments, and some genuinely sweet romantic scenes. It may have a few flaws, but the entertainment value was definitely there. I can already see myself rewatching some of my favorite scenes because the leads were just that fun to watch. Definitely worth watching if you're in the mood for something cute, funny, and romantic!

An electrifying rom com

Overall, this was a fun and entertaining watch, even more than I expected, to be honest!

The plot is based on a webtoon, so naturally, it includes quite a few clichés. But honestly, which K-drama doesn’t have its fair share of clichés? It’s a fantasy rom-com, so they’re pretty much expected! And, of course, since it’s a fantasy, it’s not supposed to be realistic. That’s perfectly understandable, I’d say! So, if you’re someone who only enjoys realistic stories, this probably isn’t the drama for you!

Personally, I found it lighthearted and incredibly enjoyable! I had so much fun watching it, and I laughed so much throughout the show!

Actually, I’ve heard some people say that they could predict everything that happened, but that wasn’t the case for me! Naturally, I expected a happy ending, and I had a feeling that Bo-bae would somehow lose her powers, but that was about it! I definitely couldn’t predict everything that happened in the middle of the series!

Now, about the characters!

Na Bo-bae is such a cutie and a genuinely warmhearted person! She has her own struggles, both personally and professionally, and her powers have made it difficult for her to have normal physical contact with other people, which adds another layer to her character.

Baek Ho-rang might seem cold at first glance, but he’s actually such a pookie and an absolute sweetheart!

The second male lead was also such a good person! I really liked his character, and honestly, he would have been a great choice for Bo-bae if Ho-rang had turned out to be a red flag! I almost developed second-lead syndrome!

As for the second female lead and the cousin, they were both extremely narcissistic and selfish characters who were willing to commit crimes just to get their way! My main problem with them was that I couldn’t really see any character development or even the slightest hint of remorse. Their complete lack of empathy made them seem almost sociopathic! I would have liked to see them face some consequences for their actions, to be honest!

And that’s about it for the main characters!

Now, let’s talk about the actors!

They were all great! Even the actors playing the villains were incredibly convincing! I genuinely couldn’t stand their characters, which is a good sign because it means they did their jobs really well!

Cha Woo-min was such a pleasant surprise, and I really liked him! I’ve officially become a fan, and I hope to see him as a male lead soon! He definitely deserves it!

And now… Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin!

Their chemistry wasn’t overbearing or forced. It felt natural, effortless, and excellent! It was just so, so good! I APPROVE!

Kim Young-kwang… how we’ve missed seeing his romantic side! His charm was very much appreciated in this drama! His microexpressions are genuinely impressive, and he delivered such a lovely performance!

Chae Soo-bin was amazing as well! She’s the queen of rom-coms, and she portrayed Bo-bae beautifully! She was absolutely hilarious at certain points!

Although, I can confidently say that her characters clearly haven’t watched Vincenzo, because both Hee-joo and Bo-bae seem perfectly willing to drink from whatever bottle they find in a car! 😅

Choi Min-ho was another pleasant surprise! I really liked the parallel between the bodyguard and CEO dynamic, and it actually made me want to see Chae Soo-bin in a drama with a similar concept! I’d love to see her playing a cold CEO or even an evil character for a change! I genuinely think she could nail either role!

Final thoughts!

All in all, I think this is a lighthearted, warm, and funny drama! It’s entertaining, charming, and simply a good time! It’s not the kind of show you should overanalyze or take too seriously, especially considering that it’s a fantasy rom-com!

Sometimes, a drama doesn’t need to be groundbreaking or completely unpredictable to be enjoyable. Sometimes, all it needs to do is make you smile, laugh, and have a good time!

And for me, this drama did exactly that! 💗

A happy little romcom treat!

Gosh, I love me a feel-good romcom. This came at the perfect time because I just wanted something fun to watch, and this delivered!

The tropes are cliche in the best way, and I'm absolutely here for it. I also expected the ML to be much more of a jerk, like most chaebol romcom MLs out there, so imagine my delight when he turned out to be such a fun romantic lead.

The chemistry and banter are fun, and I love how easy it is to root for the main couple. And the second male lead!! What a lovable guy! No SML syndrome for me because my heart isn't torn between the two. I just want good things for him.

Even the villains are tolerable, which is always a plus for me because I really don't have the patience for antagonists who make me want to skip half the show. I do have to say I was rather a surprise for me instead because a few people I was expecting to be villains were actually not lol. That's another plus for me!

Did the drama do anything groundbreaking? Nope. Did I have a good time? Absolutely. Sometimes all I want is a good old-fashioned K-romcom that lets me kick back, giggle, and root for two people falling in love.

Electrifying Stars, Predictable Plot Carried by Top-Tier Chemistry

This drama is lighthearted, bingeable romantic comedy with an ridiculously quirky premise that delivers easy fun. Thanks to strong lead performances I had a good time.

Plot : Na Bo-bae (Chae Soo-bin) is am unlucky aspiring screenwriter with a weird quirk—her body actually generates static electricity, so touching anyone gives them a mild shock. Baek Ho-rang (Kim Young-kwang) is a reserved corporate heir living with a high-tech artificial heart that relies on a battery. When the two literally bump into each other, they realize something crazy, here the story of the two gets entangled. The drama shows how the two of them move forward by relying on each other.

What to Expect :
Lead Chemistry: Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin carry the entire show. Kim Young-kwang brings his usual charming, slightly brooding energy, while Chae Soo-bin excels at playing warm, relatable leads. Their chemistry is really good.

Pace : The drama has only 10 episodes so, it's not draggy. Timing of romance and subtle comic elements are good enough.

Charming Humor: The show leans heavily into the absurdity of its premise. Watching a stoic chaebol heir try to stay close to a human power bank creates plenty of genuinely funny, cozy moments.

Things that Made it an Average Drama
** This drama has many many clichés and Heavy on Tropes, like- Forced cohabitation, Corporate succession, Love triangle/rivals which are very common in many rom-com dramas.
** The side plot involving corporate politics and family rivalries feels a bit generic compared to the main romantic arc.

Take Charge of My Heart knows exactly what it wants to be: a sweet, low-stakes romantic comedy that relies on actor charisma over complex storytelling. This is not a groundbreaking drama but a fun watch. Have fun !

Like the FL said in the interview, "it's a well known taste but it's really tasty"

I feel like it's been so long since a normal romcom has been dropped. Great actors. 1st episode was funny and really engaging. Nothing new or ground breaking but fun.
A good romcom to binge watch in this cozy fall! The fl is so cute with the curly hair and the makeup lol
I'll edit or rewrite my review once i completely finished it.
Since it needs 300 words for a review,
I'm gonna suggest a webtoon "electrifying confession " in which the fl is similar to this drama fl but not the same story.
I've been craving superpower + romcom since wonderfools. Now here i am.

Edit: Binge watched it in 2 days. The plot is rushed within 10 episodes. Sometimes i found the ML arrogant in the beginning(very typical)and i feel like his characterisation isn't as strong as the fl(he turned from unapproachable, sharp stoic boss in ep 1 to cute and a little clumsy and cute very soon by script). I also feel like her superpower is underutilized in the plot. BUT the romance is so fluffy and cute so as a romcom it did its job.Yeah loved the actors. Special mention to 2nd FL,she's great. The couples are so cute and I'm viewing their promotional videos now as i miss that couple.

Absurd and Entertaining

Take Charge of My Heart is a ten-episode fantasy romantic comedy with a generous dose of absurd humor.
Its premise is remarkably similar to The Master's Sun (2013), starring Gong Hyo Jin. The main difference is that ghosts have been replaced by electricity.
And that fantastic element allows us to examine the series from a different perspective. An absurd story is not necessarily a bad story. Quite the opposite: once we accept the rules of its fictional universe, seemingly ridiculous situations can become part of its charm. Just think of the 1960s Batman television series or Get Smart.
In that respect, Take Charge of My Heart works quite well.
The chemistry between the leads is excellent. Chae Soo Bin has a natural charm and remarkable expressiveness that greatly enrich her interactions. The supporting cast is equally impressive, with everyone delivering convincing performances. And I will repeat something I have said many times: Korean actors tend to be exceptionally well-trained and disciplined professionals.
However, Bo Bae is practically a metahuman. She possesses extraordinary electrical powers that could have been explored far more creatively instead of being used primarily as a romantic device.
Another weakness is the series' length. Ten episodes for a story that could easily have been told in a two-hour film, with considerably better pacing.
To fill that running time, we once again get the familiar corporate intrigues, family conspiracies, power struggles, and the inevitable woman obsessed with marrying the wealthy chaebol.
These elements have been recycled so frequently in K-dramas that they have become tiresome, particularly because we can usually predict exactly how they will be resolved.
Ultimately, Take Charge of My Heart is a charming romantic comedy, well acted and genuinely funny at times. Its absurdity can be one of its strengths, but its conventional narrative structure and excessive length prevent a promising premise from reaching its full potential.

Comedy on point , with a romance plot

Na Bo-bae (Chae Soo-bin), a screenwriter with electric powers, meets Baek Ho-rang (Kim Young-kwang), a resort executive with an artificial heart that needs recharging. Their unusual arrangement leads to a sweet and hilarious romance, complicated by Ji Eun-ho (Cha Woo-min), who also has feelings for Bo-bae.

Overall, I enjoyed this rom-com so much! Chae Soo-bin brings so much charm to Bo-bae, while Kim Young-kwang is great as the cool but lovable Ho-rang. Their chemistry feels natural, and the comedy is 100% spot on. The romance is perfectly paced, never forced or overdone. I do wonder what things would have looked like if Bo-bae had chosen Eun-ho, though! Such a fun, sweet watch!

I also loved the balance of characters; nobody felt unnecessary or overwhelming they did not add a lot of unnecessary characters to the drama which i enjoyed . Although I wish we had explored their backgrounds more, the story still flowed well.

Most importantly, the drama knew when to stop! It was short, sweet, and never dragged on just to fill 16 or 20 episodes. I prefer that over a drama that loses its plot halfway through.

I watched most of the drama on high speed..

disclaimer: these are just some thoughts I had while watching this drama, don't let me stop you from checking it out yourself because you may really like it. in hindsight I'm wondering if my thoughts are a bit harsh, because I do think the couple is cute..

RATING SCALE:
drama: 6.5 - still more meh, but decent because it has some good aspects (6 - average, meh)
romance: between 7 and 7.5 (7 - alright, but probably forgettable, 7.5 - good)
chemistry: 6.5

WATCHING INFO:
started watching on netflix: 10th october 2026
completed on netflix: 11th october 2026

THOUGHTS:
- I'm not really into these types of rom-com stories or a fan of CSB, but I'll check it out since it dropped all at once
- around 14 mins into ep 1, I watched it at 1.5x speed, for now any ways, but I'll try to watch it at normal speed the rest of the time (in ep 1 I watched the main couple's scenes on normal speed)
- as of ep 4, I watch all the side character scenes on 1.5x-2x speed, the only side character I like a bit is her sister, obviously mr. yoon is working for the bad guys.. or not? why all the sus-ness sir?
- I'm on ep 6 and haven't had one of those fangirly moments yet..
- my sfl is clinging onto the ml because of one encounter when they were teens -_-
- electricity powers: the scene in ending ep 6 was cool and ep 9, I watched those on regular speed and even replayed those scenes
- ML reminds me of phet actor (in strong will 2026), chen xing xu and lee min ho all together
- by ep 8 I was getting bored, by ep 9 I turned it off and watched once upon a time instead.. I know I should care about this drama, but I just don't really.. the romance is cute, but it's missing something.. maybe it's the directing? the comedy, never makes me laugh out loud, the only times I've laughed a bit were from secondhand embarrassment.. I know it is a silly drama, but then make it feel like one..
- never mind, I won't go watch OUAT I'll force myself to finish this first, on 2x speed if I have to! sigh.. I was supposed to be left feeling like hehehe, but I'm rushing to finish it instead..

if this is your first kdrama of this genre then maybe you'll like it more, but as for me, I've seen this clichés too often before, and since I don't like the main couple THAT much, it just feels meh.. I don't feel connected to the characters or story.. it's been so long since I felt that drama spark T_T

I didn't care about the business plot at all, they could've spent more screen time on our leads instead.

CLOSING THOUGHTS:
what is the show trying to be, is what I'm left thinking?

A Chaebol, a Human Power Bank, and Lots of Butterflies

I watched Take Charge of My Heart in one sitting, and honestly, I enjoyed it much more than I expected! Sometimes you just need a drama that doesn't take itself too seriously, and this was exactly the kind of feel-good rom-com I needed. It's cute, funny, a little ridiculous, and completely aware of what it's trying to be. As Bo-bae herself points out, people don't always watch chaebol romances for realism. Sometimes we just want the feels and butterflies. And honestly, I couldn't agree more.

The premise is wonderfully absurd. Na Bo-bae is an aspiring screenwriter whose body generates static electricity, making physical contact with others difficult. Baek Ho-rang is a wealthy corporate heir with an artificial heart that needs recharging. When they discover that Bo-bae's electricity can charge his heart, they strike a deal: she'll help him, and he'll become the inspiration she needs to write better romantic stories. Watching a CEO depend on a woman who can literally charge him like a power bank is as ridiculous as it sounds, but that's part of the charm. You either accept the silliness and enjoy the ride or spend the entire drama questioning the logic. I chose the former!

The leads and their chemistry were easily the biggest highlights. Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin made Bo-bae and Ho-rang such an enjoyable couple. Their banter, playful interactions, and romantic moments felt natural, and I loved how their relationship gradually developed from a practical arrangement into something more meaningful.

Ho-rang was a particularly pleasant surprise. I expected the typical arrogant chaebol who takes half the drama to learn basic manners, but he turned out to be an absolute sweetheart. Watching this reserved CEO become softer, sillier, and more affectionate as he falls for Bo-bae was genuinely endearing. Kim Young-kwang handled the transition from composed executive to completely smitten boyfriend beautifully.

Bo-bae was equally charming, with her warmhearted and energetic personality. Despite her unusual ability and professional struggles, she keeps moving forward. I also liked that she wasn't simply there to solve Ho-rang's problems. They both needed companionship, acceptance, and someone who could understand them. Their relationship helped them grow, and while their journey wasn't particularly groundbreaking, it was sweet to watch.

The second male lead deserves some love, too! Cha Woo-min brought so much warmth to Eun-ho, making him caring, supportive, and easy to root for. I didn't quite develop second-lead syndrome, but I certainly wanted good things for him. He was more than just a source of romantic tension, and I appreciated that the drama gave him a likable personality of his own.

The supporting cast was another plus. Bo-bae's family and best friend were lovely, and their unconditional support added warmth to the story. I also appreciated that the drama didn't overwhelm us with unnecessary characters or subplots. Even the antagonists were convincingly portrayed, although Ho-rang's aunt, uncle, and cousin became increasingly frustrating. Their greed escalated without much remorse or meaningful development, and I would have liked to see them face more satisfying consequences.

My biggest disappointment was the ending. Ten episodes felt like the perfect length for this story, and the pacing was generally good, but I wanted more time with the main couple once everything settled. After getting so attached to them, their final moments together felt a little rushed. And come on, a wedding in Bo-bae's script isn't the same as seeing the main couple's actual wedding! I would have loved that little bit of extra closure.

Overall, Take Charge of My Heart isn't trying to reinvent the rom-com, and it doesn't need to. The premise is ridiculous, the tropes are familiar, and some conflicts could have been handled better, but the drama delivers where it counts: charming leads, great chemistry, funny interactions, and a romance that makes you smile.

I finished all ten episodes in one sitting, and I can already see myself revisiting my favourite scenes when I need a pick-me-up. If you're looking for a cute, lighthearted romance with a lovable male lead and plenty of feel-good moments, give it a try. Sometimes a drama doesn't need to be realistic or groundbreaking. Sometimes it just needs to make you laugh, give you butterflies, and leave you happy you watched it.
