Actor Heo Nam Jun will possibly work alongside possible main leads Mun Ka Young and Choi Woo Shik in the upcoming K-drama Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid.
According to various media outlets on August 14, Heo Nam Jun's newest project will be Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid.
Heo Nam Jun's agency responded to the casting reports. According to them, "Heo Nam Jun did receive the offer to appear in Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid. The actor is currently reviewing it."
Last month's reports about Mun Ka Young and Choi Woo Shik leading the K-drama are also unconfirmed, as discussions are still ongoing for both actors.
If Heo Nam Jun joins Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid, this will be his follow-up project after the upcoming K-drama A Hundred Memories. He will first greet viewers with the JTBC K-drama and will work alongside Kim Da Mi, Shin Ye Eun, Lee Won Jung, Kim Jung Hyun, and Lee Jung Eun.
Early this year, Heo Nam Jun also appeared in the tvN K-drama When the Stars Gossip with Lee Min Ho, Gong Hyo Jin, Oh Jung Se, Han Ji Eun, Kim Joo Heon, and Lee El.
Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid will tell the romance story of a man who has given his all for his country and the woman who bravely puts her own life on the line to keep him safe. The K-drama is set against the backdrop of the anti-Japanese independence movement during the Japanese colonial era, and the story will be based on the webtoon of the same name by Na Yoon Hee.
Director Hur Jin Ho (Love in the Big City) and writer Lee Ha Neol (The Last Princess and Assassination) will join forces to create the upcoming historical romance K-drama.
Heo Nam Jun has been offered the role of Song Hae Su, an independent activist from Primorsky Krai. After his family is killed, Song Hae Su dedicates himself to the independence movement, where he becomes involved with Kang Ui Hyeon (played by Choi Woo Shik) and Su A (played by Mun Ka Young).
According to reports, filming for Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid will begin as soon as the casting is finalized. There is no confirmation yet on the airing date and broadcast channel of the upcoming K-drama.
