I watched Love Like Ashes yesterday, and it was really entertaining! The RR was done well even though FL's treatment of the ML sometimes made me flinch. She definitely tip-toed into black flag territory with some of her actions, but it was interesting to see an actual modern day black flag FL.
We also got some very good stuff:

- A bondage/gag scene with a toe-curling whimper from the ML (dindin, you were so right)

I was expecting something else based on what everyone was saying ig- Sometimes I just really don't fuck with something even though it's fine and I should enjoy it? Something was throwing me off (Might just be that I really dislike the "strong, powerful woman stuck in a weak body" version of body swap/transmigration stories)

Ugh, I don't like that trope either. I think we were talking about this not too long ago. It's part of the reason I can't get into Love in the Clouds. The FL didn't transmigrate into a weaker body, but she lost all her powers, and now has to navigate the world at the mercy of others. So I dislike the "Once powerful, now weak" trope as well. Unless it's a transmigration situation where the FL gets to give her powers/skills to the new body.

If you guys are looking for a rare C-drama with actual disability rep: Will Love in Spring was a freaking masterpiece.
I've never seen anything quite like it since Asian dramas in general usually "cure" any disabilities a main character starts out with. In Will Love in Spring, the FL has one leg. And she, like, just has it the whole time. The other one doesn't magically grow back. I was shocked the drama was brave enough to craft a whole story around a one-legged FL, but they did, and they did it well. I was really impressed. The FL's dynamic with the ML wasn't RR, but it was still interesting since she was angry (*gasp* they let a FL be angry in a mainstream C-drama???!), smart, jaded, stubborn, and put herself first in the relationship. A lot of people didn't like her, and claim she treated the ML horribly (🙄), so that's how I knew I'd like her when starting the drama.

I thought the drama was baiting me. The first scene where she takes off her prosthetic and massages her stump, I paused the drama and stared at the screen. I thought it was a dream sequence.
Just goes to show how absurd these cdrama plots are.
YES! I was like nah, they're trolling me. This is gonna turn into a fantasy or time travel drama where she goes back and saves her leg. But she had the disability the whole time, and part of her character arc was learning to not push people away or hide her pain behind a tough facade. I couldn't believe what I was watching. And the way everything was handled with such depth and sensitivity? Congratulations to the screenwriter because they have a very beautiful, special gift. My only head's up is the drama is quite heavy. Especially since the ML is a mortician (another unique thing). It's a happy ending, and there's hope and levity weaved throughout the drama, but it deals with heavy topics like disability, discrimination, and death. It made me cry a couple times, but there were always hopeful moments afterward. It was a good balance.
I like both leads, so I'll put it on my radar.
I figured you might since it's the actress from Begin Again. Where have you seen the ML? This was the first drama I've ever seen him in.

Sadly, they are. I know what you're thinking though. And I see the vision. They would make a hot RR pairing. And they've both already been in RR dramas (Wu Jun Ting was the ML in Return of the Queen), so it would be familiar territory for them.
