There is a scene in Sniper Butterfly when the ex asks the lead does she know you are like this? The duality is hot AFdidichan:
This was one of my favorite scenes! I loved seeing Li Wu use his youth and height to intimidate Cen Jin's ex. The duality was indeed hot.
I think my favorite type for ML are wolves in sheep's clothing...didichan:
Also known as a Green Tea ML 😁 I like them too. They're often complicated and interesting.
I do have a really big soft spot for sheep in sheep's clothing as well LOL. They're so cute, and I just want to protect them. But they're capable of getting angry too, and when they do it's often shocking because people are used to them being pleasant.
I sincerely apologize, if I haven't replied to your messages.Simi_Tutu:
No worries at all! There's a lot of activity. I'm doing well since I'm having such a great time watching Glory 😊 Hope you're doing well too.
Alright everyone,
I'm on ep 7 of Glory:
- I'm still hooked! The martial arts tournament was so fun to watch! Loved the fight choreography, and Fu Sheng inserting himself in the competition. I know he's pretending to compete on behalf of Shan Bao's cousin, but let's be real...Fu Sheng wants Shan Bao for himself at this point. Jealousy is starting to rear its ugly head, and well...it's not ugly on Fu Sheng LOL.
- So far the drama is a near perfect mix of political intrigue, action, and high emotional stakes. This is what I want all historicals to be like.
- Now that I've finally memorized all the sisters' faces, I've noticed the 3rd sister is usually MIA. I feel like I’ve barely seen her since her introduction. Does she mostly hang out with their brother? What is she plotting? Why doesn't she generally appear with the other sisters? (Edit: Okay, she finally got some lines at the end of ep 7)
- Speaking of the sisters, why is the 5th one kind of a yandere ?😂 Homegirl looks cute, but is crazy. I'm generally not a fan of male or female yanderes (with a few exceptions), but I'm really interested in the 5th sister and the scholar's dynamic. Especially after episode 7 😏 Poor guy lol. I'm sure she'll be worth it in the end. They're definitely RR as well. I can't believe Glory is giving us two couples!!
- The one thing I'm not impressed with is Yan Bai Luo's character. He's not really that interesting, and he feels unnecessary. It's like he was just added to be a competent love rival for Fu Sheng since the cousin is obviously too immature, the other men suck, and the scholar belongs to the 5th sister.
- Lastly, is it weird that I don't like the 4th sister and want to slap her, but also want to see a nice pretty boy soften her?
Okay, those are my two cents. Off to binge more!
Simi_Tutu:
As a devoted lover of romance novels, I truly thrive on the allure of those wolves in sheep's clothing! They are simply irresistible. I can't quite decide what I adore more: the social etiquette, the thrill of his game-playing instead of opting for true love, or his captivating wicked charisma. And yes, I might even admit to enjoying a sprinkle of playful gaslighting, but that's reserved for my dramas and novels—there's a time and a place for everything. LOL
I'm glad I'm not the only one... I was afraid it by be too niche of a taste 🫦🔥🤣🤣
I've hated this man and rooted for the SML in every single adaptation for almost TWENTY FREAKING YEARS.potatocouch:
I'm jumping straight into this chat because, oh my gosh, yes, yes, 100%! The Thai version of BOF is totally my second fave out of all the versions I've checked out. The chemistry between the female lead and male lead was just phenomenal! And about Thyme, I totally get you—I wanted to hate him so badly, but Bright's performance was so on point that I ended up feeling sorry for the ML. The fact that the writers managed to get this actor to evoke emotion and sympathy from me was no small feet.
The Korean version will always have a special spot in my heart because it was the second drama I ever watched, and it was the first time I experienced second lead syndrome. I'm going to my grave with the heartache I felt for Yoon Ji Hoo. I felt so betrayed the first time I watched it. But in the Thai adaptation, Gorya is a total gem, and I absolutely adore her.
If Love Is Science? stays good, then maybe that.potatocouch:
Oh my gosh, no! I swear I already gave Arclei a heads-up about this, but here I go again. The only reason to tune into this drama is for the BL couple and their baby mama. And I kinda adored one of the couples trying to find love through the dating company that the female lead was running. They were the cutest ever! I have a soft spot for seniors falling in love later in life; everyone deserves love! In this case, the guy was super adorable, and the lady just needed to find her man who would do anything for her. Just yes! That being said, a lot of scenes that feature the main couple in this drama could totally be skipped.
He tortured her like she was a grown man LOL.potatocouch:
She was like, "you wanna act tough, huh and bit him?" We all know he was just impressed that she could handle herself, LOL. I literally lost it at boy toy! The fact that Feng Sui Ge didn't even argue back? He was totally down for his punishment, LMAO.
I'll take dramatic villains over boring ones any day 👌potatocouch:
Was it too much to ask for the sister to just get taken out by an arrow or some poison? She was so annoying! I can't stand when they write female characters like this. She had so much potential! She could've gone to the other kingdom, tried to form an alliance, and unite the two kingdoms? Instead, we got this ridiculous plot about her being obsessed with a man, completely ignoring his psychotic tendencies and his obvious evil plan to frame her brother for the murder of thousands of people.
I mean, he literally shot her brother right in front of her! And she still chose to go with him? If that were me, and my brother was sacrificing his life to save me, and I saw the guy I loved shoot him, that would be it! I would have left in a heartbeat. But no, she sticks with him and then realizes, oh, he's never going to love me, he's just going to use me. So, she jumps to the other guy, and then we get this convoluted love story that isn't even romantic because he's crazy too!
And then, my "favorite" part, we have a pregnancy storyline where she gets stabbed, and her brother has to save her again. Then she cries, 'Oh, I'm so sorry! I should've listened to you!' No kidding, you should've listened to him! He should've let you bleed out on the floor because you caused all this drama for what? Nothing came of it! All the villains in this story had the worst writing. The only one that gave me goosebumps was the lady torturing kids and turning them into weapons of war. That storyline actually had me shaking and feeling something! But all the other villains? No way! The writers were just too lazy. And once again, I’ll say it: this girl should die! She was so unbearable! Every time she appeared on screen, I was literally screaming, 'What are you doing? Where are your brain cells?'.
And about Thyme, I totally get you—I wanted to hate him so badly, but Bright's performance was so on point that I ended up feeling sorry for the ML. The fact that the writers managed to get this actor to evoke emotion and sympathy from me was no small feet.Simi_Tutu:
Thyme and Gorya's chemistry was out of this world! And I was so surprised when I started sympathizing with Thyme. It had never happened before, so the writer's really got one over on me. I couldn't believe it.
That being said, a lot of scenes that feature the main couple in this drama could totally be skipped.Simi_Tutu:
I might have to stand alone on this one for now, but I really like the main couple so far, and am invested in all their scenes. Their history is so rich and adorable, and they have great banter! I loved when Hsuan Yu had a bad day at work because of that two-faced actress, and Yan Fei tries to cheer him up by bringing him a late night snack. Not only does she end up breaking his window trying to get his attention, but she shows up with carrots and celery sticks, and Hsuan Yu's like, "Couldn't you just have brought popcorn chicken or milk tea?" And every time he'd get a little sassy, Yan Fei would just start reciting vegetable facts 💀😂 The way they interact really tickles me, so unless that changes drastically, I'm a fan of their relationship.
I have heard the drama's pacing starts to get sluggish later on, so I might end up doing some fast-forwarding, but it'll probably be for all the couples if the drama gets that slow LOL.
Also, I think the older couple (the CEO and the farmer) who meet through Yan Fei's agency are cute, but I hope the drama doesn't make her give up everything to move onto his farm and frame it as what women should do for love. That's such an insidious narrative, and it would really bum me out to see it in a drama that's already touched on the unique injustices women face in romantic relationships.
Yeah, the sister in Fated Hearts was one of the most annoying characters in 2025. Couldn't stand her. Really glad the drama went the "No, you can't always fix him" route lol. It was so satisfying. I didn't mind that she didn't die because sometimes death is a reprieve. She can stay alive and think about how stupid she was every day.
Plus I didn't want Sui Ge to lose yet another person. Poor guy had already lost his mom, dad (even though they had a complicated relationship), one of his most trusted men, and his very best friend. If he lost his little sister too, I don't think he would've recovered emotionally—even with Yi Xiao's love and support.
writer's really got one over on me.potatocouch:
Oh, don't you love when they actually do their job correctly LOL
The way they interact really tickles me,potatocouch:
Well, they’re sure to have some great banter since they’re childhood friends; if they didn’t, it would definitely be a failure on the writers’ part. I don’t mind them as friends, but I just don’t feel the chemistry for a romantic relationship, and it’s not the ML’s fault. It just seems like the FL takes forever to acknowledge her feelings, and by the time she does, I feel like I’ve spent countless episodes waiting for that spark, which never really materialized,.
I have heard the drama's pacing starts to get sluggish lpotatocouch:
My main beef with the drama? It started off fine, the main couple was adorable. I mean, the ML was a total snack, and his shyness? Love it! I would’ve killed for a haircut like his, especially since he gives them out like candy, they’re pricey! lol
But then, somewhere around the halfway mark, the pace crawled like a snail on a leisurely stroll. Every scene with the main couple felt like déjà vu; it was just back-and-forth, will-they-won't-they nonsense that dragged on forever. At that point, I was like, ‘Seriously? You’ve been friends for ages, and you can’t figure out your feelings? The female lead’s reluctance to confess her feelings made zero sense to me.
The side couple? They were fine because they didn’t hog the screen time, so their relationship felt like it was actually moving forward. Still, I was happy with their outcome, The main couple’s ending left me confused.
in Fated Heartspotatocouch:
I'm just going to imagine that when she got home, she was struck down by an arrow because everyone was so displeased with her epic marriage fails. I mean, girl, you didn't just flop at one marriage; you managed to flop at two! LMAO!
For the man who has my heart, YES, I was losing it. Every time he felt pain i thought "Oh, that's just sad!", " Are you kidding me? Give him a break!" and "It's the best friend, isn't it? You don't deserve him! What on earth made you think you could ever measure up to him?" Then," If they hurt him one more time, I swear I'm going to lose it! "
It felt like a roller coaster ride of drama, with the male lead comforting the female lead through all her trauma, and then the writers just flipped the script and said, 'Okay, now it's the MLs time!'
But when they finally got down to business, oh yes, the chemistry was off the charts! He was letting her take charge, and boy, did I love it! We adore a strong, emotionally charged man who's a total ball of fire. If they had pulled out his flames with his sister, that would have shattered me! So, I guess you'll survive for now. What the writer should have done was save the baby and make her face the consequences of her actions. Oh my God, let me stop! That's just terrible! But honestly, it could have been the wake-up call she needed to mature and stop being so selfish.
Well, they’re sure to have some great banter since they’re childhood friends; if they didn’t, it would definitely be a failure on the writers’ part.Simi_Tutu:
Unfortunately, many writers do fail at this when it comes to friends to lovers. They don't write leads with engaging, believable banter or solid emotional intimacy before jumping into the "lovers" part of the relationship. For example, that's a big criticism of the friends to lovers season of Bridgerton (aka season 3) and why it wasn't as well-received. So whenever I do see it done well, I really appreciate it. And it sets up a great foundation for the switch to lovers.
Every scene with the main couple felt like déjà vu; it was just back-and-forth, will-they-won't-they nonsense that dragged on forever.Simi_Tutu:
However, this is a fair criticism as well, so I'll keep my eye out for it.
You may have forgotten to respond to it, but you didn't refute my prediction about the CEO/farmer's romance, so now I'm nervous that's exactly how it's gonna go 🙈
What the writer should have done was save the baby and make her face the consequences of her actions. Oh my God, let me stop! That's just terrible!Simi_Tutu:
No, don't stop! LOL. I agree that would've been a good lesson for the character.
Responding to these posts from a few days ago:
Had to look this up cuz I was unfamiliar with it, but yes, that is spot onArclei:
I always go, "Pooja, what is this behavior"/"You're dying for it" (chameleon accent and all) to my friends at any given time.
Heard Lesson in Love is quite taboo, and knowing Taiwan, I'm scared that might be a lvl of taboo that'll make my skin crawl... The ML also seemed insufferable, but you're recommending it, so I'm thinking he's prolly not that bad. As for twisty... elaborate?Arclei:
It's really not that taboo. You've probably seen similar or worse in a vertical drama. Or other mainstream dramas, for that matter.
The ML's a spoiled brat for like two episodes, and quickly becomes a simp for the FL who...is actually worse in a compelling way. It's basically a vertical with a full-length budget LOLLLL. I had the time of my life.
Someday or One Day was never on my radar... It has the Thriller, Romance, and Sci-Fi tags, yet still does not seem like my scene, hahaArclei:
Yeah, it has all the things you love LOL.
But idek if it's my scene yet despite it doing some really interesting things. I have to finish it to be sure.
I don't think I'm masochistic enough for this, tbh.Arclei:
Idk...is it really masochism? :p Sure, you're angry at the ML, but you get to read about the FL besting him at everything. It's super cathartic. And then the payoff in the next two books is soooo good.
But I'll leave you alone about it now 😂 Since you're like me, it'll be hard to take people's word for it. You'll need to approach it on your own if/when the time is right lol.
I actually saw an INCREDIBLE RR western movie last year called O'Dessa.Arclei:
Waiiitttt a minute, this movie was actually recommended to me on Hulu a few months ago! I like Sadie Sink (because of Stranger Things) so I strongly considered it, but ended up getting distracted (story of my life).
I had no idea it was RR or that Kelvin Harrison Jr. was the ML. He's such a talented cutie, and I've adored him since The High Note. Definitely adding this to my offline watch list.
FL is SO young lad trying to find his way in the world-coded. Incredible.Arclei:
ML is a performer and sex worker who works under a cruel woman who mistreats him.
FL is masculine-presenting, ML is feminine-presenting, so like 10/10 visuals (I do with they would've gone a bit more fem looking with ML but *shrugs*)
FL falls head over heels at first sight like a young lad seeing a beautiful maiden for the first time.
She proposes
She wears the wedding suit, he wears a veil
She saves him
This all sounds like the perfect recipe 🥹👏
THE ONLY downside is that... it's a sad ending. Like, it left me feeling very hollow kinda ending, so not like An Ancient Love Song, but like, proper "nah wtf" ending.Arclei:
Even though I'm not a big angst lover, I'm not necessarily against sad endings. It all depends. The movie sounds (mostly) fun and unique, so I'm gonna give it a try.
surprisingly The Boys...Arclei:
...As in the show about dysfunctional superheroes????
How can you stomach that gore? I had to stop after the first season because it was too much.
Also, I know the show's called The Boys, but the female superheroes were very much in the background (except for that Starlight girl). Sounds like that may have changed in the later seasons, so that's good.
Yo, based asf rec, thank you!Arclei:
I haven't seen it in forever, but I remember enjoying it. I'm sure it's not perfect because, well, the 90s lol, but lemme know what you think of it.
I just think she might crucify me if I bring her another dubious red-flag ML. The Prisoner of Beauty scarred us both 😭Arclei:
I would never do that to you! I promise Sui Ge is nothing like the ML in PoB. I didn't watch it, but from what I've gathered the ML tends to take his pain out on the FL, right? Well, In Fated Hearts, Sui Ge doesn't take his pain out on Yi Xiao. He lets her comfort and support him, and vice versa.
Girl, these screenshots got me lowkey feralArclei:
I knew you'd appreciate them 😏
He would look really good pinned down by the arms.Arclei:
Speaking of pinned down:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfPn55K_Zyw
6:15-6:50
It's not by the arms and I wish it lasted a bit longer, but it still really worked for me 🙈 I was like PIN HIM, YI XIAO! APPLY PRESSURE!
(Phew! This scene is like a whirlpool. I linked it for you, but got stuck in a replay loop myself. God, I miss my babies. I'm about to rewatch).
Did you also have awkward moments where you and someone with trad likes bond over a feature (let's use the present example, arms), but the lens is way off? They're gushing about how big and strong they are, and you're gushing about how dainty and pretty they are, or is that just me? I have this sm with men's arms and hands because people love the bulky veiny hands, and I like pretty angel hands.Arclei:
I do like big, strong muscles, so I can watch something with a trad lover and bond over a feature through the same lens, but the opposite has also happened 💁♀️
The instances that come to mind are when my friend and I were watching a K-pop group, and both in awe over a particular member's body (sue us, we were definitely objectifying lol). She was talking about his abs and I was talking about his slutty, little waist and the way his back curved in then out 🙈
It also happened with an actor's neck, I think, Byeon Woo Seok actually. My bestie said she loved his Adam's apple and I loved how elegant and swan-like his neck was.
What a waste to not have him in at least one RR project...Arclei:
It's tragic!!! His pouty lips alone make him prime RR material.
Good to know cuz I hate the "she's a warrior but looks no different from the most feminine of women in the city with a face full of makeup and the trendiest clothes"Arclei:
Yeah, there's none of that.
Got any reccs? I rlly liked Bloody Heart last year and the very slight RR subtext it had. Also, The Tale of Lady Ok and its RR not-so-subtext, even tho I found it too heavy to finish, yet. I have others on my radar, but for non-RR reasonsArclei:
Of the ones I've watched, I can really only recommend The Tale of Nokdu (which I think you've already added to your list) and Sungkyunkwan Scandal (the only Park Min Young drama I like lol). The Great Queen Seondeok was also really interesting and had a powerful female antagonist, but my attention span wouldn't let me finish it. I plan to one day, but that day hasn't come. Queen In hyun's Man is also an old fave. It's half modern/half historical because of time travel, and it's very romantic, but sadly while the leads' relationship is healthy, it's not RR at all.
My schedule is fairly flexible for the coming few weeks. If that answer is too ambiguous, Fri/Sat?Arclei:
Friday night works for me 😊
Also interesting that you figured out that pattern.Arclei:
I made all my closest friends take the test, and that's what most of them got, which confirmed a lot of things for me.
EXAAAAAAAAAAAAACTLYYYYYYYY. I'm too macho for allathat!Arclei:

Call me a longhorn beetle how I be feeling things (that took me an embarrassingly long time to come up with but I really wanted to make a feeler joke).Arclei:
10/10
That does track, Tumblr says that our personality types are very similar and thus compatible, so it makes sense! I'm sure you can provide more context since you actually read the psychology behind it.Arclei:
Yup, ENFPs/ENTPs are very similar. Although some of the stereotypes in the Differences section of that tumblr post are hilarious 😂
We can message more about it later. Just don't want to spam ya.
That's the beauty of dissecting dramas with someone. I feel like all three of us are watching it together lol.potatocouch:
Awww, yes, exactly!! I love watching shows alongside online people, it's so great that we're all watching it together even if we're far apart.
I feel like the FL's one maid who always gives the announcements to the guys is essentially Chris Harrison/Jesse Palmer.potatocouch:
TOTALLY.
Welcome back! Don't sweat it, BL pulls me away more times than I can count, but this fabulous crew keeps me anchored. LOL So, of course, I can't resist joining them again! It's delightful to see you here. I hope you stick around for a bit, and I trust you're having a blast with the RR title you're currently watching.Simi_Tutu:
Aww, thank you!! Yes, BL is so seductive haha. But right now I'm watching Glory and it's so RR and good! And I just got some great recs/encouragements from everyone and so I'm excited to dive (back) into some others!
The instances that come to mind are when my friend and I were watching a K-pop group, and both in awe over a particular member's body (sue us, we were definitely objectifying lol). She was talking about his abs and I was talking about his slutty, little waist and the way his back curved in then out 🙈potatocouch:
Pardon me for butting in to this convo but THIS IS ME omg. I don't know what kpop groups you're into but one of my absolute faves is Ateez Yeosang, and I am constantly in the position of seeing pics of him with !!!! captions, and I'm like "oh yes, his little waist" (or his adorable sweet face or his femme makeup or whatever) and then only after do I realize that the point of the post was his arms, oops.
(I am like Arclei in that I prefer pretty delicate features on men - in fact it's pretty easy to put me off if the muscles are too big or too emphasized!)
I just reeeeally hate it when the romance/sexy scenes involve the ML acting dominant, it can really ruin an otherwise great romance for meoctopus_joy:
I am the EXACT same. I always skip those scenes when they come up cuz they're sooooooooo uncomfortable and cringy to me. If it's in an RR drama, I just feel betrayed and angry.
ALSO what did you think of the guy who stole the candlesticks and offered his body in compensation???? I almost died.octopus_joy:
I was absolutely SHOCKED to see them pull a stunt like this and such steamy scenes with a side character?! I also am so here for it. Yes, girl, bag that boytoy! Kinda goes to show how deep the women's power runs in the family if even servants can pull stunts like this. (Also, I'm always a sucker for trope reversals like this, yes, put that man in a vulnerable subservient position, it's for his benefit 😋)
their whole setup is very, very RR, from the age gap to the personalities to their roles in the relationship. For example, he spends a LOT of the drama extremely leaning into housewife duties; she doesn't cook or clean and he's really into bothoctopus_joy:
Awwwwww, we love to see it!
where he stands up to her male colleagues about women as breadwinners and men staying homeoctopus_joy:
How bold for China 👀
she comes in and full-on rescues him from getting fired with her lawyer powers and is a total badassoctopus_joy:
Absolute sucker for the FL saving her man 😩
it was just the other parties were irritating to watch and it takes up QUITE a lot of screentimeoctopus_joy:
As a firm love-shape hater, I can agree. Ruins the story for me p much without fault. I always hate the secondary leads sm (at least I'm free from the SML-syndrome, lol).
I SO BADLY WANTED IT TO BE OKAY FOR HIM TO JUST CONTRIBUTE AT HOME AND WITH HIS EMOTIONS, but no.octopus_joy:
I completely get what you mean. I was already thinking this was very progressive for China, and sure enough, it was. Such a shame :/
Basically if someone made a supercut of all the RR bits then I would be begging everyone to run watch it immediatelyoctopus_joy:
Yeah, I have that about a lot of series. Is the love square prevalent throughout the entire drama or at a certain point? I'm honestly fine with just watching half the drama if the beginning is rlly good and just skipping the rest, lol. Or skipping everything but the leads' scenes, haha xD Cuz 40 eps is kinda diabolical
And oh boy, speaking of big-eyed kitty faces, Xu Kai's is a doozy.octopus_joy:
Seriouslyyyyy, broooooo- I was not a fan of his at first cuz I saw him in a very mid drama before, but then I watched Moonlit Reunion, and now he's my desktop background
I am like Arclei in that I prefer pretty delicate features on men - in fact it's pretty easy to put me off if the muscles are too big or too emphasized!octopus_joy:
Yes omgggg I'm not alone 🙏🙏🙏 I like soft, delicate looking men the most, pls
The humor in this is actually funny! And I actually adore her cousin. He's so unserious, but not a complete idiot at the same timepotatocouch:
I really like her not-cousin, too. He's so cheeky and unserious (the scene was... mildly amusing, but to me, more dumb than anything else. I just struggle to believe that someone who knows FL so well would go in the opposite direction of what she likes. I know this is prolly done to show how only ML truly understands her, but like... He should know. And he doesn't seem like the type to subscribe to traditional values and wanna enforce them on others, so I don't get why he would so smth so cringe past "idk he thought it was cool," but that can't be it, lol. I think the best part was when she locked him up xD Yes girl, teach that brat what's good).
I guess that kinda extends onto my next point, which is that the comedy has me quite disappointed. It's been largely a miss for me, and I'm really tired of RR dramas being watered down with this crap, lol. Can't we get a serious RR drama? I guess it's likely because of censorship, so if that's what it takes to air proper RR dramas, I'll take the L, but I'd be lying if I said it got more out of me than a chuckle so far.
I loved how weak and helpless he's pretending to be. Especially in episode two when one of FL's suitors hit him. He might as well have said, "Oh, my!" and fainted. That was how dainty he was acting, and I ate it up! He's so pretty in peril 😭It's the eyeeeeeeeessss.potatocouch:
Seee??? Told you he was made to play a concubine XD I really love his scheming helplessness, and his beautiful soft voice and stunning huge eyes help A LOT. He would have me wrapped around his finger in seconds, let me tell you. He's so transmigrator-FL-coded, no?
I'm just... a bit bummed that it's all pretend.... again *tired sigh* Edit: At least it's better than other dramas since she still holds the power between them.
It's dramas like this that make me even more bored with other dramas, because not only is this RR, but ML is a literal servant, and I actually can't think of a drama rn where ML is a servant... Like the absolute lowest they'll go is making him a bodyguard or, the more common one, a mid-tier official. But a ML being a servant? UNHEARD OF!!! (Servant FLs on the other hand... in abundance). And I absolutely love it, because he's so fucking nosy xD
I wonder if she's actually developmentally challenged or just pretending.potatocouch:
Hm, I wonder too... This drama doesn't really seem to be too deep when it comes to the story, so I think what we see is what we'll get, but yknow, I'd be happy to be wrong, lol
I'm trying to memorize which sister he's most likely going to end up withpotatocouch:
The 5th one for suuuuuuuure. RR dramas like their similars attract secondary couples.
Lastly, why does that one dude who initially teamed up with the arrogant rich guy keep sweating. Is he okay??? Is he going to crack under the pressure?potatocouch:
You're not narrowing it down. Both are arrogant and rich xD do you mean the one who presented himself half-naked behind a pile of gold to FL as her 'gift' or the yandere?
Still on ep 3 cuz I had a very bad, not good at all day yesterday, and didn't wanna ruin the drama with my shite mood
Umm, are you really trying to convince me that this is a good watch? LOL!Simi_Tutu:
I never said it was a good watch xD I just said it fits your criteria :P I found it to be pretty mediocre, actually, to the point that I'm struggling to find more things I like than those I dislike to actually continue it. But a lot of folks are liking it, so you never know *shrugs* I can share my personal thoughts on it if you want.
One of the ladies in the office got so fed up that she literally slapped her name on the wall!Simi_Tutu:
Oh wow, how passive-aggressive 😬 I'm also pretty bad with names, tbh, so I get it
I’m tasked with remembering all these names and their backstories that stretch back three decades, and they think I can keep it all organized in a single arc? The writers are completely delusional ಥ◡ಥSimi_Tutu:
Yup, and by the 4th ep you can do it AAAAALLL over again, lmao
There’s a clear distinction between villains who merely serve the storyline and those who genuinely drive it forward.Simi_Tutu:
And then there's the ones that do neither, and those are in the majority xD No, I don't have beef with how villains are written. Why would you say that?
it’s no easy feat for an actor or actress to deliver a performance like that!Simi_Tutu:
That's why so many good actors are left in supporting roles because they just kill it as villains! It's also why villains are often portrayed by older, more-experienced (and non-idol actors), lol. Playing villains is always harder than other roles. It's very easy to fall into campy cringe territory.
Jealousy? Check. Master plan? Double check. Kinky? Oh honey, she was strutting around with claws and a whip, and her servant was eating it up, he wasn't fooling anyone!Simi_Tutu:
Sounds very compelling, indeed! Glad we're starting to get better female villains that aren't just lovestruck fools but actually ruthless, complex monsters.
Also, she sounds dommy, and those are my favorite kind~
Like, can a girl even comment on anything these days without it getting out of hand ?Simi_Tutu:
Not anymore 😔
I truly thrive on the allure of those wolves in sheep's clothing!Simi_Tutu:
Huh, I seem to be in the minority of people here who dislike MLs like this a lot. To me, it's more often than not not really RR, and oftentimes it just kinda feels like he's "allowing" FL to have power, and I'll be frank, I might dislike that perspective more than just traditional romance, lol.
That's not to say it can't ever be RR. It just 9/10 times isn't. I do see more attempts at actually doing this trope in better ways with the rise of green-tea MLs, but yeah
It's really not that taboo. You've probably seen similar or worse in a vertical drama. Or other mainstream dramas, for that matter.potatocouch:
Alright, thanks for letting me know ^^
The ML's a spoiled brat for like two episodes, and quickly becomes a simp for the FL who...is actually worse in a compelling way.potatocouch:
Ooh, okay, interesting.
Idk...is it really masochism?potatocouch:
Not much of a hate watcher/reader, haha xD Especially since I struggle quite a bit with keeping my attention focused when reading, specifically, so an entire book with such an unlikeable ML might not be in my capacity. At least not atm, but who knows what the future may hold.
Definitely adding this to my offline watch list.potatocouch:
If you do watch it, let me know what you think because I genuinely couldn't convince anyone to watch this movie yet and I'm so alone in my feelings about it xD
Even though I'm not a big angst lover, I'm not necessarily against sad endings. It all depends. The movie sounds (mostly) fun and unique, so I'm gonna give it a try.potatocouch:
I... yknow what, alright, valid xD LMFAO This is where we differ because angst? Yes pls, sad endings? NO!
It's a fun watch! Hope you like it!
How can you stomach that gore? I had to stop after the first season because it was too much.potatocouch:
Different times. I was at my worst depression years and was desperate for anything superhero (since there was nothing else available that I liked and this was pre-drama era), so I watched two seasons before I didn't tune into the 3rd. I can get away with certain gory things by looking away, but it was very hard to stomach.
As for the RR, it was mostly in the background, but it's more than I've seen in other media so it's something. Mostly Starlight x That Bland ML and Kimiko and the French guy had some girlboss x malewife moments with both the women being strong asf and the men being pretty weak. But this is as good rep as the west gets, thoooo 💀 Which is diabolical.
I'm sure it's not perfect because, well, the 90s lol, but lemme know what you think of it.potatocouch:
I'm expecting it to be a product of its time, but like I just said, the stuff we get now is not better per se. It seems promising!
He lets her comfort and support him, and vice versa.potatocouch:
Yeah, he basically spends the entire drama mistreating her and blaming her for her family's sins while he's an extremely irritating manchild about it. I kept seeing everyone gushing about the ML choking FL scenes from FH so I'm skeptical. But if it's only a bit of red-flagism at the beginning, it should be fine

Augh, that was really good 😩 I watched that like 5 times. It really is a constant battle for dominance, aye. Such a shame it's so brief, bruv- Someone cast this man as a bratty didi, Y'ALL ARE MISSING OUT ON GOLD!!!
Also, OMG Sa Dingding sings the OST?!! 👏 Yesssss
I do like big, strong musclespotatocouch:
I guess this is where we differ xD
She was talking about his abs and I was talking about his slutty, little waist and the way his back curved in then out 🙈potatocouch:
You are SO real for that 🙏
I don't rlly follow kpop because I know I wouldn't last a second (tumblr keeps showing me images of Filex, and I am unwell). The only group I somewhat follow is Xlov, and yeah... if you need a visual femboy feast, they're your guys
My bestie said she loved his Adam's apple and I loved how elegant and swan-like his neck was.potatocouch:
See, here is where I can appreciate both. But swan-like necks defs take the cake- Adam's apple are too common, like, okay, we get it
His pouty lips alone make him prime RR material.potatocouch:
10000% All men with pouty lips should be required by LAW to star in at least 1 RR drama /j
Of the ones I've watched, I can really only recommend The Tale of Nokdupotatocouch:
Surprised to see older titles on your recc list 👀Thanks for the reccs! ^^
Friday night works for me 😊potatocouch:
Awesome, now we just need to find a day
Although some of the stereotypes in the Differences section of that tumblr post are hilarious 😂potatocouch:
We can message more about it later. Just don't want to spam ya.
Yeah, I thought the same thing, bruv xD
Feel free to spam me whenever 💗
And I actually adore her cousin.potatocouch:
You know who he reminds me of a lil bit?
Li Wu 💀
It doesn't help that I was thinking about historical Sniper Butterfly and concluded that Cen Jin would be a wealthy merchant and Li Wu would be her scheming didi-to-CONSORT because he would never settle for just concubine. Which like... *gestures*
