Quantcast

I found this list I made in the middle of September of my favorite shows this year:

Payback 9.5 (my favorite show this year)

Deep In 9.5 (amazing)

Fake Fact Lips/Fake Fact Lips Special 9.5 (delightful)

Sammy’s Children’s Day 9.5 (living rent-free in my head)

The Edge of Horizon 9.0 (InnOngsa are so good, and I learned some Thai history!)

Duang with You 9.0 (watched twice already)

The Prosecutor’s Proposal 9.0 (wonderful surprise hit)

A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills’ Dream 9.0 (top art film quality)

Ticket to Heaven 9.5 (powerful)

Don’t Be Too Emotional 9.0 (not as high quality as the others on this list but still so good.)

The Lie We Lived In 9.0 (surprisingly riveting)

Other shows I didn’t rate as highly but still enjoyed a lot include:

Bittersweet Love (couldn’t look away)

Journey With You (good but not amazing)

When Oranges Fall (delightful)

MuTeLuv: Love Me If You Swear (SurfJava breakout as a fabulous pair)

Fourever You, Season 2 (I thought all the parts were worth watching)

Never Forget Your Enemy (kept my attention)

Love Upon a Time (started too silly but ended so well, plus NetJJ and LatteKim are great couples)

My Romance Scammer (so much fun)

Burnout Syndrome (interesting and thought provoking. Also sexy.)

Awakening the Steppe (sexy/sweet and stunning scenery)

Did I miss your favorite show?

I have not started “Police in Love” yet. Is it any good so far?

@Ju Moon & RX

I went back and found our discussion from last year on Kill to Love. I saved both of your comments about it because they were so insightful, and inspired me to think about the show in new and complex ways.

I am hoping to do a rewatch at some point and then write and post a formal review. If you’re interested in what you wrote, I can send it to you. I hope you don’t mind that I saved it.

I hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do !

RE: Popular Serizawa Acts Weird around Me

I've watched 3 eps and unfortunately I'm feeling a little bored so far. Maybe the plot picks up soon? Or Sukuzi stops apologizing repeatedly? Or everyone stops trying to shove food down Sukuzi's throat?

It's hard not comparing this series to School Trip, it's sooo similar. The difference is I enjoyed School Trip from the start. I think I like the characters from School Trip more as well.

For now I'd like to see more scenes with Takeuchi. He's hot in those glasses. I love a smart guy. 😻😍🤣

ETA: Only one more week and S2 of School Trip is out!

RXinw:

I have been away so long that it feels like I am indeed new here. I miss you guys 😭 life has been tough, but I survive. I hope you all have been well.

I missed you the mostest! 😂 Welcome back! Yeah, life sure has been...interesting. I'm glad to hear you're surviving too. ❤️

RXinw:

I am literally out of touch with everything BL. I never would have thought this was even possible.

I never would have thought to hear you even say it, lol.

Tiffany:
Right now, the BL series a lot of us are watching and enjoying is Mr. Fanboy.

It's actually the group's official watch pick!

Ju Moon:
Hi everyone,

Hi! Nice to see you back! 😁

Ju Moon:
Police in love is amazing. I'm having so much fun watching it.

I'm looking forward to this drama sm! I love Yin and War, especially War. I haven't heard much talk about it here until now. 😆

@ Indie Art Girl

I felt that way about Popular Serizawa Acts Weird around Me too. I'm caught up so spoilers to some of the later episodes but I absolutely hate the fall in love at first sight trope. Serizawa has no other reason for falling for Suzuki than being captivated by him reading delightfully. It lacks any emotional depth. And honestly Suzuki is such a boring and awkward character to me. He does absolutely nothing interesting the whole drama so far it makes it hard to watch.

In that vain, I liked After Moving Seats... (another School Trip replica) a bit more overall, even with it's too buy the book plot because at least both characters put work into the relationship. 😮‍💨

There is still time for Sazuki to have a character development arc that I hope desperately for. The thing is, if you ask me if these two characters would still be together in 10 years my response would be, 'I'd be surprised if they make it past graduation.' Makes it hard to be invested in their romance when I don't believe it will last.

Someone, maybe Mr. P, mentioned a few titles with a hard of hearing theme and I keep forgetting to post this title. It's a vert so not normally on my radar.

I'm in a "mood" rn, lol 😈

RE: Popular Serizawa Acts Weird around Me

I get it. This type of character role is so typical of a JBL and one that I find annoying all. the. time. at times. This character can't finish sentences cuz they are in the presence of greatness (the other ML who is far superior in their mind). Every other sentence is a "Huh?" And they practically apologize for their very existence while they hang their head. UGH!! Please, does this type of character exist irl?

If the rest of the drama and the characters are a good watch then I can overlook this character (if they're super cute it helps), but so far I'm not really impressed with anything about this drama so it's hard to muster the motivation to continue.

I don't get how Sukuzi can be so dense when it comes to Serizawa's "weird" behavior, cuz like isn't he a BL WRITER?!?! And a READER of BL??? How does that make sense! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Interesting...I agree with this. 😝

Have I posted this title yet? I can't remember. 🤔

Ju Moon:

I haven't been around much, but I'll try to check in and participate more. Really missed you all.

We've missed you, too! (What a coincidence, welcoming you and RXinw back to the group within a few hours of each other.)

Ju Moon:

Yin and War are such incredible actors.

Yes - I'm also really enjoying "Police In Love", first and foremost on the strength of Yin & War and my fascination with them. (I haven't started on "Summertime" or "Fool In Love").

For the benefit of anyone who may have missed this about a week or two ago (especially RXinw and Ju Moon):

MDL has said that they will, for technical reasons, delete any forum threads that exceed 200 pages and that people should, if necessary, then start a new forum thread.

This "group" is actually a forum thread. So far we've been spared, but there's a risk that our precious de facto group could abruptly disappear.

It seems like a really ill-considered approach: "throwing out the baby with the bathwater" i.e. killing the most popular and successful forum threads rather than just auto-truncating them. I'm not sure if anyone in this group has reached out to MDL yet. (I haven't because I'm too lazy and cynical, and I'm terrible at getting around to doing things.)

We're still here for the moment. Maybe MDL has already recognised this and adjusted course, but I don't know this.

If this thread does suddenly disappear, and if we don't want to keep re-opening it every time it hits 200 pages, I guess we'll have to find each other in the Boy's Love group. (There are some disadvantages to this alternative, but if MDL sticks to this new forum policy, we won't have much choice.)

About the threat of losing this forum and everything being all over the place I created a General Discussion topic on the BL Group page that can be used just like this forum.

Oh, I just thought about it and I can link other popular other topics in the first post too!

Play Me (2026)

Want something short and light to watch (but with a little emotional depth)? This series is 2 hours long in total, and I really enjoyed it. It’s a second chance romance involving BL actors. Mr. P, this should be up your alley, although it’s not 100% fluff. Art Girl, you might want to try this, as it’s neither upsetting or annoying. MDL has it at 7.2 but I gave it an 8.5.

Good idea. I hope that by preparing for the worst, the worst won't happen (like bringing an umbrella so it doesn't rain).

dora:

(re "Play Me") Yup, already watched it. Despite some weaknesses in story and execution, I enjoyed it as an easy two-hour watch. Some of the path-crossing coincidences five years later were rather amusing.

I watched this Taiwanese bl last week called “Connecting to you”, it’s very fun and interesting definitely a 9/10 for me

This actually happened to me. Bought a fancy rain coat in Germany, than proceeded to not need it for almost a year in what is usually the rainy season of my state in the US. There was a whole rain coat odyssey in my friend group chat. One friend offered to spray me down with a hose. 😂
