I don't like that both male leads got reincarnated along with FL, this is so beaten to death. Now of course they gonna imply that the main couple is fated 🙄 and two-faced SML plotted their demise. Could have been better with a fresh start, like the title implies, instead looks like she dragged ancient history along with her to repeat in the present.
is there any romance? i saw some scenes on tumblr but there isn't any tag here so...?
There is romance, but it's not the main focus and is a slow burn, this drama for the most part is a grim detective historical focused on cases. Romance gets featured prominently in later episodes. Since it's not the primary focus it got tagged here as "slight romance", but it's rather misleading. Slight is something akin to side glances and flirting, imho. These guys here almost got married twice and were riding off into season 2 for a third round, lol.
The comedy so far here is kinda meh. It turned out to be a more seriously toned, somber drama. We'll see how it goes, but so far it's all rather tropey and how they forced the leads to work with each other looks rather tacked on. Realistically, FL should have first ended up being taken by the police, then have had her mental capacity checked by some doctor. But she carefully avoided all the usual funny traps and adapted to new reality very quickly without getting her mind blown too much.
This drama's trailers baited me good with a promise of comedy, but as it turned out most of it was in the first few episodes and now it's mostly romance with typical tropes such as misunderstood characters with sad backstories and misunderstandings. The absolutely ridiculous stuff they make audit do in this drama isn't helping either.
Hell yeah to Unveil: Jadewind season 2. Loved the first season 1 even more after a rewatch and reading some history for context. And they already baited people good with that cliffhanger teaser at the end.
Lulu said this is her last action drama (because of her health) and for a while she stops to take role of costume…
Well, let's see how it pans out. Judging by the synopsis she has to be in the sequel. Maybe they'll limit her fighting scenes, make use of a double more, or something.
Also, it's still a long wait ahead and no official comfirmation about the cast yet. There are many dramas that were announced and we're still waiting 5+ years later. But if they want to make money out if this while it's hot, they gotta produce it soon. Looks like it was a commercial success, despite lots of controversies, but half of it was carried by FL actress. There's no point in making this sequel if she's not gonna be in it.
Apparently it's official. Color me surprised. But the leads have to be in to be a success, especially FL.https://k.sina.com.cn/article_7096020439_v1a6f4add706801qsug.html?from=ent&subch=oenthttps://www.tonboriday.com/2026/05/unveil-jadewind-season-2-release-date-plot-cast.htmlhttps://www.facebook.com/100086142476844/posts/unveiljadewind-starring-bailu-and-wangxingyue-has-a-second-season-officially-ann/969095089305231/https://www.facebook.com/dramaseri2.0/posts/youku-officially-announces-plans-to-produce-new-seasons-for-several-hit-dramas-i/998561339781425/
"Main theme: The concept poster uses the slogan "Private desires form a net, cause and effect form a prison" and the text "Danger lurks outside the palace walls, someone wants to break her bones inch by inch", which implies that the main plot of power struggle and revenge continues and the female lead Li Peiyi faces more severe challenges.
Plot continuation and foreshadowing: The sequel picks up right after the first season finale, revolving around Li Peiyi (played by Bai Lu) investigating the truth behind her family's massacre, delving into the conspiracy outside the palace walls, and strengthening the narrative of female resistance.
The new season will fill in the logical loopholes from the first season, such as the abandonment of the "rouge box foreshadowing" (not sure what that is, brothel case?), and continue the storyline of Li Peiyi resigning from her official post and retiring to the martial arts world."

That emperor's gonna die. Irl he died of illness a year after the events of the drama. His favorite concubine died just before that, so they probably gonna off consort Shu as well since the crown prince hated her and wanted to kill her anyway. That crown prince also inherited a ton of problems from his father regarding corruption and decentralization of power due to general-governors holding too much power over their regions.
Other than that, sounds interesting, but I wonder about the quality of the plot and leads' status. This drama was based on a novel and had well thought out plot and dialogues. Who's gonna write a script of comparable quality for season 2? There's no sequel to that novel. As for the leads, they'd better not sideline or minimize their screen presence because of actors' schedule conflicts , both have to be in it again full time to be a success.

It's just been announced there'll be a second season. And some people were writing below she wasn't as categorical on social media about this later. My deep condolences to her poor back, but she has to be in this to be a success, she was carrying this drama.
Maybe it was a bad translation, but in the drama she said she lived 20 years. The actress doesn't look like she's 20 for sure, but she's still a great actress, I like her.
Have you noticed that all the crazies get agitated closer to an actor's major drama release? Can't deny some people simply being sad terminally online losers, but coordinated attacks from haters and rivals also can't be denied.
If you started watching mainly for romance, then check genres tags again, it's not a soap, but a historical detective drama. There is romance here, but it takes quite a while to get aknowledged by the leads, somewhere around episode 23.
The only controversial thing here is that somebody decided to post an article about this dumb obsessive nonsense. Nobody cares here about how those sick Asian netizens scrutinize actors under a microscope and stalk their private lives. Just post actual news about new dramas.
I was initially shocked to see audit team doing HR work.... When did audit people start interfering in work place…
Yea, they don't even seem to know large paper shredders exist, not to mention other ways to destroy tons of paper. Poor ML was shredding one sheet at a time.

Also, some more plot synopsis info here, looks like FL will have to return again to carry the plot:
