A well thought out plot, but you can guess what's what half way there. Though I didn't appreciate that for drama's sake everybody knew everybody, kdramaland SK is so small. And man, those evil characters were utter trash. At least they all got their karma in the end. Good riddance. I'd say a solid 8 here is in order.
Was pretty decent until they fcked everything up in the last two episodes, starting from the apeshit dumbass reason ML wanted to off that guy in the OR. It went downhill from there. And FL actress overdid it with psycho mode, made it hard to believe such a person could ever blend in society for any extended period of time before being caught for offing someone after another fit of rage. Can't give it more than 7.
Korean are really bad for giving us a great ending (except Secretary Kim). Are they so frustrated or what?
Depends on what you mean by great. It must have a wedding or something? There are numerous dramas that have that. Or just the sense of completeness/satisfaction? Those may be rather rare, admittedly. Many dramas tend to rush or fck up their endings.
FL became likeable only by the later half. The problem with her is that she didn't have any chemistry with ML, should have just stayed friends, would have been more believable. But kdrama showrunners these days just can't help themselves but put dumb childhood connection = destiny trope into every second drama. Very annoying.
The plot at the beginning also wasn't too bad, but it got boring, cliche and over the top by the end.
The villain actress did well as well, but her character is an absolute psycho with delusions of grandeur who belonged in psychiatric ward, how the ef she managed to stay afloat pretending she's normal without messing things up is beyond me. I guess that's what money and coddling can do to a person.
Finished a few episodes and it's pretty good so far. Though tired staple tropes such as childhood connection and insane bullying at school kdramas have been overusing as of late are really getting on my nerves. I'm also not a fan of FL actress, she always plays not very likeable, dense characters. ML's pretty good though.
I hate how for drama's sake they allow people from outside in casual clothes to enter the operation room. Happened twice already. It's just super lame for a medical drama.
Ok, a serial surgeon, that's something a bit fresh 😂. Let's see how it goes. From the synopsis I thought this was your typical medical drama about a poor wronged doctor trying to get back into the industry. But that's clearly not it here, lol.
Wow, I'm blown away. Very creative, well filmed drama with a well thought out plot. It looked at first like a very creepy supernatural thriller about ghosts, totally didn't expect the twist in the middle. The latter part was absolutely heartbreaking. The only thing I don't think was worth inserting was Moving characters and its season 2 teaser (?) at the very end of the drama, it should have been self contained. But I guess since the director and screenwriter are the same they decided to have a bit of fun here.
sooo….you’re advocating for suicide, then? How is a message saying don’t kill yourself controversial? Maybe…
I'm against guilt shaming people for wanting to do it and government, and society as a whole, downplaying, or outright refusing to acknowledge the underlying reasons that push people to do it. Society pushes religion, obligations and everything else they can think of to emotionally guilt trip suicidal people, instead of trying to figure out reasons that led them to it and addressing them, not to mention showing some basic compassion.
The second part was even more of a pain to finish than the first. Historical backdrop was rather interesting, but FL is just too idiotic, amnesia x2 and last few episodes plot just killed it for me. And overall the drama has too many episodes. Should have been 16 total max. Overrated af.
This drama's wasting too much time on useless subplots and several minutes long close-up stares. No wonder each episode is an hour and half. It's not a 16 episode drama, but actually 20+ because of that.
It also doesn't help that it's borderline makjang about an utterly stupid chaebol family who are so easily duped by the moustache twirling villain and his accomplices' long con it's a wonder they've managed to stay afloat for so many years. Grandpa looks more like a cloudy eyed veteran alcoholic than an active chairman, mother and younger brother are utter gullible idiots, father looks like he has less influence over business than his daughter. Only FL and her aunt are seemingly the only ones with brain cells in the family, but nobody takes them seriously.
And this drama's leads act even less believable than that incredulous couple from When The Phone Rings, at least there they hadn't slept together before to act like green teenagers with each other after living together for 3 years. Some sort of kindergarden level cringe here. Not to mention there's zero chemistry due to lead characters different personalities. FL is a bossy frozen fish who doesn't let her emotions out. ML is a pushover who can't for the life of him assert himself before anyone. How they got married is even less believable. It basically looked like ML just pitied a girl at work and wanted to get a wife and FL was grateful somebody liked her. But then ML learnt he basically got duped into an indetured service for life to FL's family, lol. Which I think he could have endured indefinitely if only they haven't started living like complete strangers after one difficult incident, instead of getting through it together.
That's basically the main theme in this drama - nobody can talk to each other like normal human beings. Hence all the misunderstandings. But on the other hand, in that family a mother has no qualms about suing her daughter because of business disputes and irrational blame shifting. The staplest of all staple tropes in kdramas - miscommunication. And then they also couldn’t help themselves but to insert the tired childhood connection, basically EVERYBODY has it here. I haven't finished it yet due to it being so damn long, but I'm seeing amnesia's coming on the menu as well, fml.
Where is this high score coming from, I've no idea. Likely as always, superficial eye candy looks of the main couple. The plot is a seven something at best because it has a few decent laughs, but that's about it. Too many cliches and dumbassery. And also, while it sure is a nice hook for those who like to drown in emotional soap, but I'm not a fan of fictional diseases with wierd, all over the place symptoms to suit the narrative and even more fictional treatements. We have lots of real ilnesses to choose from. And if it had to be cancer they should have told it like it is, hardcore, instead of this fairy tale about some miracle fictional cures with no relapses.
He keeps her because: 1) He needs to maintain his amnesia story and she’s part of it. He can’t have her blab about it to anybody. And suddenly giving her to the police would be sus, that would mean he remembered something. And he’s right to suspect her of wanting to harm him or being in cahoots with somebody, he’s surrounded by enemies and her behavior starting from day X is very sus. 2) After all the fraud and damages she has done he’s justified in wanting revenge. There’s a ton of his money she had spent, more to be revealed later. And then there’s all of her hilarious abuse of him. Sure, he could have called the police, but read 1). She doesn’t have any money to pay him back, but some comeuppance is in order. He wouldn’t make her do anything bad or demeaning being not that sort of guy, so keeping her around doing chores is actually quite a mild punishment. And it won’t last long anyway. 3) Another reason is that he already started liking her being around. As they say, people get used to good things fast, and he’s been living very lonely. Like, how he waited for her all night after she ditched him because of potatoes.
P.S. You wrote a lot of spoilers there, just put them under a spoiler.
The beginning is very slow and boring, it gets better after invaders come to the country. But it's a very slow…
It is. It’s basically a more sanitized version of Gone With The Wind, Korean take. If you ever read it and was frustrated with idiotic FL there you won’t like it here either. FL is even dumber here, while ML is way nicer and heroic. And in part 2 they’ve added some staple kdrama tropes like amnesia x2 times and a giant time skip, because probably ran out of ideas, as it starts getting draggy halfway there. Should have been 16 episodes max.
The only reason I can see it can be rated higher than usual is because of everyone’s darling that is ML actor. But if you’ve seen him in other dramas he’s not doing anything new here, same style, same expressions.
I'd say a solid 8 here is in order.

Overall a 7 from me.

2. Episode 12.
