I am still not able to wrap my head around two things. If she wants to avoid palace shouldnt she be avoiding YL too? Also I get that she doesnt trust XW at all and what she might have seem him do in past life she is wary of him so her reaction seeing XW is understandable but i dont get how she can be comfortable even being with YL if he had raped her (multiple times i read below) . That is very much a horrible personal experience and i dont know how can she go about being normal with a person who she knows can do that to her!! Even if she had betrayed him stil the person who supposedly loved her cannot do that or does the drama wants to convey he just force kissed and nothing more? IMO a person capable of doing that is not a person you want to be with even if you know he has not done that yet or the situation was different. I would be as much scared/wary of a person who did that to me or more than a person i have seen killing others brutally . Since XW killed her too i would say scared of both

thats why i really find it difficult to accept that she still allows YL be close to her ! she might be guilty but if he forced himself on her then i dont see how she does not hesitate when he keeps touching her

i have a small question. i noticed FL calls all MLs by name. i get that YL is sort of her childhood friend so thats fine but i found it weird that she calls XW who is a big court official by name. is. that how it was in China and i am finding it new since in India calling by name without adding a respectful connotation was a big no in ancient times and even now in personal setting or is it something we have to gross over bcs in dramas they dont care about that level of authenticity

looks like she did something awful to him as per other comments but yes even i have that complain if she was really assaulted in the palace by him she should have been more cautious if not scared . i am not convinced with the reason tbh. that still doesnt change the fact that its not hot . i would say the same for another scene with the teacher holding her neck which everyone are waiting for ! Again i am not picking on you . its just my opinion. It might be really interesting for me to see this intense scenes if the story demands but terming it as hot i felt is not how i would describe it

So much in only 38 episodes. I have seen some modern drams with more episodes with much less plot ! i hope they dont rush how their relationship develops

Exactly my feelings and not just this drama lots of other wuxia/xianxia (whatever 3-4 i have seen) . you know when i started this drama first 8 or so episodes were interesting. The way ML story spanned out and the way he reacted kept me on edge. Is he turning bad, or already is plotting or whats he gonna do next but around episode 10 onwards i could not figure out ML and FL anymore.
Also this years and years of torture the leads do for waiting the other lead leaving every responsibility they were shown in the beginning with is something i see in every Xianxia or Wuxia story! Thats the reason i cannot take these drams seriously! Even LBFAD i hated that the most. Like the Devil who was shown as the saviour of his country is spending days cleaning up some place waiting for FL to return. He could have done the same running the country. I see the same here as well.

Although first 10 epis i watched with interest i know what you mean . Even with all the pains both lead characters have we cannot feel that pain at all. As if the characters themselves are disconnected with their life . Seeing ML in WIFTY with similar sad story did so well i am not sure if its the actors problem or the director and screen writers problem

same. i thought i am the only who felt FLs acting is not that great. i couldnt relate to her pain . She need not cry all the time but still her expressions fell flat in many scenes for me

yes i second that. first 10-12 episodes were okayish when they were friends but i felt after that it became so disconnected with the characters . It was not going nowhere and i couldnt feel any connection with ML or FL and their relationship didnt look that deep. Friends who at one point helped each other thats it. I think director or screen play is to blame . This is just my opinion . I do see comments about liking it a lot so nothing wrong in trying if you have time .

i think its the director/screen play which doesnt provide us with more insights into what kind of character he is ! Also i felt there is a problem with translation. Like he is not a bad boy as such but not a usual gifted/interested academic student!

I sort of started feeling it much earlier somehow . They are so great as friends but could not imagine more after around epi 10. Dont know why!!

IKR ! Also isnt it supposed to be 2017 ? Movie was released in 1998. It took 9 years to reach China lol!! Only explanation i can think of is someone in the production is fan of Salman haha!

Even without comparison stand alone as rom-com it has literally nothing to offer. No character arc no lovable characters & no story Here you go no comparison now. And i guess i am more dissapointed bcs i paid for it and did not enjoy the show so i will still criticise without comparing to any show
