While I completely sympathize with Wan Ning and understand how she became the way she is, her actions are inexcusable, as many have pointed out. Creating a torture chamber and ruining people's lives just to make herself feel better is indefensible. In the same scene, she sentenced the doctor and his entire family to death without any remorse.
I'm also surprised that a good amount of people (from the comments I've seen on weibo, some here, some on reddits, youkus, twitter, etc) are criticizing XFF for her scheme against the princess. Firstly, I doubt XFF knows the full extent of what Wan Ning went through. Secondly, compared to what the Wan Ning princess did to her family— torturing and abusing her dad and brother for half a year, leaving her dad mentally ill and her brother nearly disabled —XFF would have died in the most horrific way if not for plot armor. So, how is giving the princess a pregnancy pill considered "evil" or "an awful move"? If anything, she was doing her a favor by pushing her to marry her supposed love SYR had SYR not been an evil schemer himself and pushed her towards another man ...
Anyways, just my two cent on the episode. Li Meng is a great actress and that scene did tug at my heartstrings. Props to all the casts for being so great at their roles
Im on ep 34 and super frustrated seeing the kiss scene. Gosh! I love this drama so much, really the best one in…
they do have an official kiss scene, but that won't happen till near the end i think. I think it's cause the director/producer didn't think their CP was going to be this explosive so they didn't think to add that many intimate scenes, but boyyy were they wrong
Y'all are awesome))))) I wish I'd take you all to the next drama that I'm gonna watch 😻😻😻
The Princess Royal should be airing right after the double, from the trailer it looks pretty promising. Also ZLH is a bonus. We will see each other there~
Just a question, if SYR had to choose between his mum/sister or his wife, and chose to kill his wife otherwise…
The thing is, if XFF were forced to kill SYR and his family to save herself and her family, I don't believe XFF would do it. I also doubt her father and brother would either, given their kindness (can you imagine her father and brother plotting to drug SYR the way SYR's mother and sister did to XFF?). Especially her father, who is a good official and always thinks about the people. That's what sets the Xue family apart from the Shen family—they're very dignified and righteous people. I think, if given the same choice, all three of them would rather die than live by sacrificing others' lives, especially those they love.
So, no, he did have a choice. He could've chosen to die and bet that the princess doesn't dare to take that bet.. Sure, the crazy princess might let him die and then still killed XFF and his family even after his death, but that's her choice, not his, and what if she doesn't? The fact is, he's scared of the "what if," so he chose to kill three people to save himself and his family.
It's ironic when SYR said, "If I had Duke Su's power, I would've done it too." No, you wouldn't. He literally followed that with, "If the emperor finds out about Duke Su giving up his army, Duke Su and his entire clan would be killed." So, it was literally a death move (if the emperor wasn't aware). Do you think if SYR was in the Duke's position, he would choose to sacrifice his whole clan and life just to save the FL like the Duke? That's why it was so ironic when he said that because he wouldn't have done the same even if he was in the Duke's position.
