haha the clam is really becoming that Pit in The Double if you've ever seen it. It should be it's own character

Regardless if you're a Jing or Xiang Liu stan, or Cang Xuan or Feng Long or Xiao Yao or anyone or even none, I…
I think that's what a lot of us find annoying regardless of who you root for. XL and XY has plenty of cute, romantic scenes in the novel as well. I'm confused why instead of including those candid moments, they decide to inject XL or CX into Jing's scenes or vice versa. The novel did a pretty good job at highlighting each character and giving them their individual moments, but it falls short and becomes obvious when a character appears in a scene where they don't belong.
That three some laying underneath the stars??? Why make it so awkward T_T. Also, just when I was enjoying the first kiss we had in S2, they immediately pan over to XL and I went from feeling happy for our couple to feeling sad for XL

The level of disrespect the production team is showing towards Jing is seriously infuriating. I’ve lost count…
Take the last four episodes, for example:
- The super sweet and romantic proposal scene where XY gets super shy and says yes? Altered that Jing got rejected.
- The cute pre-wedding honeymoon where they spend a lot of 1:1 time together? Nah, lets modify that and add a third wheel just cause.
- Jing's 1:1 deep talk with Emperor Haoling? never happened
- Jing helping XY discover the truth about her parents and resolve her family issues? Yeah, lets not give Jing the credit and add CX who wasnt supposed to be there.
- XY's mom giving her approval of Jing because he's a great man? Never happened.
- Jing bowing to XY's parents? Nope, they gave that to XL who wasn't supposed to be there.
- Jing and XY's passionate kiss and heartfelt convo? Lets make it quick and quickly panned out to focus on someone else.

And before anyone comes at me, because any post about Jing in this comment section seems to be met with a lot of negativity even when the post itself is never an attack to any other characters - I’m specifically talking about Jing’s scenes in these four episodes being replaced by non-candid scenes. If they don’t want to follow the candid route, why not make XL the endgame? With the amount of XL added scenes, that would've made more sense and even as a YaoJing shipper, I would've been fine with them having XY end up with XL since they're already modifying/adding/removing a lot of scenes to make this ship a thing. Jing plays a significant role in the story, but they’re reducing him to a mere side character. Cutting out numerous Jing scenes that would have made it clearer to viewers who haven’t read the novel that Jing and XY are meant to be together is baffling. How are you going to convince the audience that they're an end game couple when you purposely modify all the romantic and important scenes? Thankfully, Jing is a well-crafted character, and Deng Wei's acting is excellent. Even with the deleted scenes, we can still see the chemistry, but it’s heartbreaking to think how much sweeter and more romantic their ending could have been with those scenes.

The level of disrespect the production team is showing towards Jing is seriously infuriating. I’ve lost count of the number of crucial and highlighted scenes of his that were deleted, altered, or never filmed.

Y'all I don't understand how most of the people here are YaoJing fans. Personally I am more of a YaoLiu fan and…
what are you talking about? Most of the comments here, yours included, are YaoLiu shippers - Scroll down and you'll either see comments like yours or comments hating on TSJ - stop thinking your ship is the underdog when your ship had every advantage from the beginning.
I'm a TSJ ship and I don't go around questioning why people like XL or criticize him. If I really wanted to, I can point out all the things TSJ did for XY and all the red flags that XL has, but why bother ruin the fun for other ships to force them to be on mine, but that's just me ¯\_(ツ) _/¯

The drama actually answers certain questions from the books. I have read the necessary and also watched until…
Your post is highly biased.

If you're going to compare her reactions, consider her response to XL's death versus TSJ's death. She was deeply saddened and cried all night for XL, but when she learned of TSJ's death, she not only refused to believe it and spent days searching for him, but she was also willing to accept death to be with him in the afterlife. Even after being rescued, she spent years mourning his loss. Heck, if you compare her reaction to Jing's breakup, she obviously more hurt and sad over breakup with Jing than XL's death. She spit out blood because she was so sadden and got sick. She overslept for years after their breakup not because she was "bored" and "had no purpose" but because only in her dreams she and Jing were together.

If you're wondering what Jing did, he did a lot. For instance, he recently visited her friends in Qingshui Town, helped them, and informed old Mu that X is living a good life so he could find peace. Jing never told XY because he's not one to boast. Another recent example is how he helped her heal and resolve her issues regarding her parents. In the novel, it was Jing who helped her heal, but the drama may not fully adapt that part due to budget constraints, which is unfortunate because it's another instance of Jing's story being overshadowed by XL's.

Person Deng Wei
I really have a soft spot for DW. He took on the role of TSJ, which no one wanted to play because it was the least popular character in the novel. The actors probably knew they would face backlash from fans, especially those who favored XL. However, DW not only took on the role but also brought TSJ to life, transforming him from the least popular character in the novel to a fan favorite. TSJ is a great character in the novel, but readers struggled to envision how a kind, gentle, soft hearted, well-mannered, soft-spoken person could be the endgame when we're so accustomed to the typical ML characters like XL. DW made us realize how lovable such a character can be and broke the stereotype of "nice guys finish last".

Unfortunately, with his rise in popularity came a lot of hate. I hate that he's receiving criticism for just doing his job. I also feel bad that, unlike the other actors on the show, he doesn't have a lot of support/backing. Despite being one of the most popular actors on the show, he's not getting many opportunities. I mean, he had only one ML role after the show aired and it's with a less well known actress. It also annoyed me that they switched his second-centered position on the main poster with WHY.

I hope he continues to grow and have a successful career!

I have a question - how is this drama going to get past the censorship rules about no time travel, reincarnation,…
the most likely scenario is the last 5 mins of the last episode will be the FL waking up from a dream or finished writing her novel and the ML appears at the last sec for some screen time

make sense...he's a dog deity, loyal and friendly :)

Lol Im so addicted to Tushan Jing too...the first 3 eps has so little of him.... Im looking forward to his making…
yeah, netizens counted only ~8 mins of him in the first 4 episodes, so hopefully we get to see more of him. Him and XY deserve some sweet moments together after all the angst

I love xiangliu but that scene of him singing made me cringe soooo hard lol
haha what makes this scene even funnier is XY's reaction, I think she was just as cringed and surprised as all of us 😂😂😂

ah i see, i could've sworn when S2 was announced, I remember seeing the episode count being 35+ and then reduced to 23. But thanks for the correction

Whenever i try to watch this drama i can’t just get into it 😭
Did you finish watching season 1? I'm genuinely curious. If you completed season 1 and are now watching season 2, you must have enjoyed it. I mean, I wouldn't watch S2 of something if I didn't enjoy S1. But if you didn't finish/enjoyed season 1, then I'm not sure why you're here for S2?

I also don't understand the producer/director logic of cutting the S2 episodes down from the original 35+ to 23...they have literally 40 episodes cap since this season abide by the 1 year guideline anyways and this drama is so popular, so why cut episodes? imagine all scenes we could've gotten

Title The Double
t's rated 8.9 because most people find it enjoyable. Does it have flaws? Absolutely, like most shows, but ultimately,…
Following your logic, the opposite would also be true. Shows with traffic actors might receive hate, but they also attract fans who rate them highly regardless of the script. If low traffic actors show means no haters, that means other non traffic actors shows be rated high, yet we often see them rated in the 7 to low 8 range, so script does play a big role. Extending your logic further, since this show doesn't have any traffic actors, fans of traffic stars would rate it low to make their favorite shows look better. Additionally, its high popularity would attract a lot of hate-watchers, bringing in negative ratings. Do you see my point? That's not a valid argument because the opposite can be said.

Regarding the premise, it's not just about proving her innocence but also about getting revenge on those who wronged her and Jiang Li. The people who wronged them faced retribution. Her case was left to Duke Su to investigate, so it was almost guaranteed that he would clear her name. Would it have been better if they showed it? Definitely, but I don't think it's necessary when things are implied, especially since, in the end, we see her letting go and moving on. Duke Su gave her advice to "be more open-minded" and "live the life you want to live, not for others." So, who cares if others don't think she's innocent? Who cares if they believe she's guilty? She has a clear conscience and people she loves. Therefore, saying the premise is just about proving her innocence misses the bigger picture of the plot

Regarding character depth, this show has some of the best-written characters I've seen in a while. Everyone is complex, and no one is purely good or evil. The main female lead, though righteous and kind, has her flaws and weaknesses. The antagonists are not evil for the sake of being evil and give strong performances.

I'm not invalidating your opinions, but to say hormones and lack of hate because of traffic actors are the only thing driving this show is insane when there's chemistry, acting, good music, well-written characters, an intriguing plot, and more.

Post drama withdrawals....none of the dramas in 2024 got me feeling this way, and no currently airing drama is filling in this empty void. Guess I have to rewatch for the third time T_T
