Might just be me but I feel like the styling here is a bit off? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore cheng yi and I think he looks great in historical dramas and this is one of my tops most anticipated drama to air, but the outfits i'm seeing from the reuter pics feels out of place and I can't pinpoint exactly why it doesn't look good to me...and that's been bothering me. I wonder if it's because of the bright colors or maybe the super flowly look fantasy for a wuxia?
Another typical wuxia drama where the immortal realm is fighting to save the world and the demon realm is the…
I think you meant to say xianxia. I havent read the novel, but the majority that read it said it's refreshing and good so I'm keeping my hopes up. Also the director and screen writer is also very promising, so even if the plot is generic, I feel like the story will be well written to keep us entertained :)
Congrats to dengwei for reaching 400 millions popularity points/heat index on tencent!! In case anyone doesn't know what that means, tencent likes to host these fun character poll/game for people to vote on their all time favorite characters and Tushan Jing is not only ranked top, but the first character to reach 400M, making the highest most loved character in tencent history !!
no offense but this director is cursed or something because most of his dramas have problems post production (tax scandals, licensing, etc). Sigh, I was really looking forward to The Emperor's Love . I can only hope that Take Me Where the Clouds Rise can air successfully *cross fingers*
I think this is one of the few dramas where the second couple story is a lot more interesting than the main couple and I also find that they have better chemistry. I actually started this for Bambi (before I knew of Deng wei and Hedi) but stayed for Deng wei xD.
I don't think it's the acting or cast that is the problem, but more so the script, pacing, and costume. Deng Wei and Hedi have one of the top visuals of this generation and somehow they managed to make them look not that attractive in this drama(bag wigs, makeup, pale lips and face, bad lighting, etc.).
It's a waste of such a stellar cast *_*, overall an OK watch 7.5
which according to this wiki page is described as:
"Charismatic, seductive and charming, Sakujun is also hedonistic, ruthless, sociopathic and not above underhanded murder. With the background he grew up in, Sakujun grew bored of life and does not hold any regard for humanity, himself included. He is scheming and manipulative and was the chess-master to the very end before he passed away. Once he has a goal, he will stop at nothing to pursue and conquer it. This is evidenced by his possessiveness of Shuurei and wish to constantly remain in her heart even in death."
Anyone knows why it took so long for DW to do another drama? Is he holding back or is it lack offerings?
From what I heard recently, he's getting a good amount of scripts offer atm (~7-10 new scripts) a month, which is pretty good considering he's still a relatively new actor and only played 1 ML role so far (I heard this from a relatively unknown director that was live streaming on douyin so take it with a grain of salt...). I think he's just looking for the right drama. There has been a lot of melons going around recently though of him signing a new script soon. I've seen at least 4 within the last 3 days and the rumor FLs are Ju Jingyi, Li Qin and I forgot the other two, but they're all unconfirmed/disproven so we'll just have to wait and see.
i really wish Edward Guo would cast Deng wei in one of his dramas. I feel like Deng Wei would look really good in Edward Guo's drama. He just has the vibe/aesthetic that would mesh really well with the style that Edward Guo goes for.
The casts here are awesome! I remember seeing this anime when I was younger, but I honestly don't remember most of it, so it'll be a new experience. I just hope this drama airs smoothly and won't run into any problems! I remember a melon saying it would air Q3 (July-Sept) of this year....but since we're not hearing anything and given the name change (might need to re-dub), I doubt the melon is true.
*cross fingers* we'll get to see it soon. Can't wait for DW to play a villain role as well
I wasn't dissatisfied with the ending, but I am a bit disappointed. I also think this is one of the few dramas…
XiaoYao and Jing : Although XiaoYao and Jing got married and ended up together, I didn't feel fully satisfied. The wedding felt rushed, and no offense, but it seemed to be more focused on CX. We also didn't get to see their happy married life, which they deserved after all the obstacles they faced. As a YaoJing shipper, even though I don't agree, I can see why others say their scenes seem bland or that they can't fully feel the love between them. The actors definitely tried their best, but what can we expect when most of Jing's highlights were deleted, and important scenes that showcased his strength and XY's love for him were modified or cut? It almost felt like they kept Jing around because they couldn't come up with a way to remove him without upsetting the audience (though re-editing his scenes didn't make it any better). You know there's a problem when the BTS scenes are better than the featured film. At least we know Jing and XY are happy, even though we weren't shown much of it.
XiaoYao and Xiang Liu: Even though I ship YaoJing, I also really like Xiang Liu. I admire his loyalty and selflessness. Whenever I see him sad, it literally pains me, and I just want him to be happy. When I read the novel, I didn't feel as sad or dissatisfied about Xiang Liu's death. Not because I didn't like him in the novel; in fact, I probably liked him more in the novel. But in the novel, Xiang Liu didn't seem as lovesick or craving reciprocation for XY's love. His ending felt right, and it didn't seem like he had any regrets. It was a love that was always giving, which is what makes his love so special to me. I don't understand why they added these out-of-character scenes of Xiang Liu crying and drinking, hallucinating himself being with XY, as it felt really off. Therefore, I tried to separate him from the novel and watched the drama's Xiang Liu as a new character, which is why his death felt very sad to me, especially the tear scene T_T. At least he got an epic ending.
XiaoYao and Cang Xuan: I love Zhang WangYi as an actor, and he has the best line delivery in the drama. They definitely toned down Cang Xuan's "evilness" in the drama but also made him a lot more obsessed. Rather than seeing him be the great king he is, we saw him constantly third-wheeling and being jealous. The attempt to redeem him by making everything an illusion and shifting the blame to XingYue felt very forced. I wished he had put effort into searching for Jing after the illusion instead of only after finding out what Jing did for him - it would've showcase his growth more - but at least we got to see some growth, so I'm not complaining.
XiaoYao and FengLeng: This ship didn't sail far, but I really liked Feng Long as well. Xing Yue was lucky—she got the best brother in the world. He's probably the chillest, most uncomplicated character in the show, and it sucks to see him go that way, even though I was already preparing myself for his death.
I wasn't dissatisfied with the ending, but I am a bit disappointed. I also think this is one of the few dramas where I don't think any ship is fully happy - at least not as happy as we could've been
Lol i can't with the yunnan police post on weibo in response to what happened to jing
Rough translation: " I heard that Qingqiu Prince Tushanjing fell into the water and his whereabouts are unknown. The police quickly came to salvage him and also as a reminder to everyone, what should we do if we encounter this situation in real life?"
Hmm,..."this situation" as in what do I do if I get killed by my brother? Schemed by my ex-finance? or plot by my lover's cousin? HMMM
People complaing about why season 2 doesn’t have more episodes…This season 2 is actually still season 1 but…
I'm not sure if the rule was announced before, during, or after this show is filmed, but if it was during or after, then I wish there was a softer rule where if the film is already being filmed or is already finished filming to be excluded because that probably affected a lot of pacing of not only this show but other shows :/
I'll just wait for it to finish airing to binge it

I'm excited for dengwei's character, since he's supposed to play Sa Sakujin:

His lips turned purple and his leg injury relapsed after this scene - too bad we only saw 3 secs of it
