What makes this drama really exciting is how you can pair up just about any characters. There’s WX & ZYZ, WX & ZYC, WX & PSJ, ZYZ & ZYC, ZYZ & LL—even ZYZ x PSJ, PSJ x YL, WX x LL for some fans. I think the only ship I have a problem with anyone shipping anybody with Bai Jiu...he's 13. come on ppl..
While I agree that everyone has chemistry and I’d be fine with any pairing, for me, the main ship with the strongest spark is still WX and ZYZ. They might not get a lot of one-on-one time since the drama focuses more on teamwork and friendship, and I get the feeling this is supposed to be a male centric drama, but whenever they do interact, it’s electric. They have meaningful conversations, share tea (well - technically nasty bitter water), exchange knowledge, and even bicker. Listening to them is always enjoyable, and it’s refreshing to see two adults who are so in sync and can engage in such intelligent dialogue. They’re soulmates— I mean...they have to be for the Baizi Token to work!
I know some people see this as a BL drama, saying WX was added as a workaround for censorship, but I don’t see it that way. To me, ZYC and ZYZ’s journey—from enemies to colleagues to close friends who truly understand each other—embodies brotherhood. Heart-to-heart moments between two men don’t automatically make it BL. Similarly, WX and PSJ share a deep, supportive bond that feels more like sisterhood to me.
That said, everyone’s free to ship whoever they want! Personally, I’m excited to see more scenes with ZYC and WX! 😍

I think the first hug is still between ZYC and WX when she hugged him in the prison, but it's kind of a one sided support hug. Ive seen the BTS and it looks like they did hug in that scene so it's either cut or like you said, we 'll get it later on. I wouldn't have a big problem with the cut if it didn't seem so deliberate - especially when the BGM and eye contacts between them were so touching so it felt like there was much more to be desired in that scene - perhaps a touching conversation between the two :P ohwell, we'll get more hugs in the future

Perhaps it’s because you’ve recently seen mostly positive comments, but having been in this comment section for a while, I’ve noticed there are actually more critical comments about her character than positive ones. When fans occasionally share their love or defend her, it suddenly seems like “there’s so much love for her in this section.”

And to clarify, there's no attempt here to “cancel” or gang up on anyone. I haven’t seen any harassment, just people sharing their perspectives and engaging in discussion, which is exactly what makes this space enjoyable despite differing opinions. Obviously there are going to be super immature people who disregards everyones opinions, and I say to those, just ignore them :)
I don’t entirely disagree that WX could use more spotlight moments that showcase her growth. But calling her a Mary Sue is inaccurate. A Mary Sue is typically a character without flaws, which doesn’t quite fit WX. As others have pointed out, she has her limitations—she’s physically weaker and can be emotional, but she supports the team in her own way through knowledge and clever strategies. She’s much more than a pretty face; she’s the heart of the group. While the story emphasizes friendship over romance, the romantic moments are still memorable and impactful.
I’ve also seen plenty of negative comments critiquing her as “useless” or “standing back” while the team fights, and some even blamed her for breaking the stone in that scene, despite the clear reasons for what happened. So, naturally, there are those who feel the need to defend her.
Again, I don’t entirely disagree with your view that she could use more prominent scenes, but calling her a Mary Sue or saying she’s mainly there for visuals seems to overlook her strengths and contributions to the team. This isn’t to invalidate your perspective—just adding my own thoughts since you shared yours here.
So how exactly is Wen Xiao and Zhou Yichen related?
THey're the same age, she lost her biological father, and YZC's family member (not sure what the man relationship to ZYC is, maybe like a great uncle?) took WX as his step-daughter. So based on hiarchial ranking, even though they're the same/close in age, she's technically his "aunt".
At first i thought ZYC only has a small crush on WX, but it looks like he loves her a lot. Literally his last will / dying speech to everyone consist of "take care of wenxiao" "thank you for protecting wenxiao". Can't wait to see their little backstory, theyre all so cute together!!
The friend group you always wanted 1. WX who is always calm and soft spoken actually raised her voice and got really angry and ready to throw hands 2. ZYZ who always tries to suppress is malicious energy actually let it out willingly when he saw his best friend getting harassed 3. PSJ who is non talkative and is cool headed also spoke out and willing to throw hands 4. YL who stood in front of ZYC as a shield to protect him 5 ZYC who dissed LL because he can never be compared to his best friend ZYZ :)
at first i was very annoyed for the fact that they bring zhou yichen along when try to search for ao yin in that…
i think another reason they brought him along is that they can't just leave him alone, in case he gets possessed again. But there's no one that is strong enough to look after him except ZYZ. But that means PSJ, YL, and WX will have to fight LiLun and AoYin, which would not be possible without ZYZ so they needed to bring him
thats my thought too. I think he only started knowing the concept of love a couple hundred years ago, probably around the time he visited the human realm. But that doesnt mean he fell in love, just finally knew it was
How does ZYC view WX? Because,When Ao Yin took as her form she said " Zhuo, Don't you love me? " therefore, wdym?…
it's pretty obvious that ZYC has a crush on WX, even the whole crew knows, which is why they always tease him. I'm not sure if he loves her romantically yet, but his feelings toward her is definitely more than a "brother sister" relationship. ZYC said in an earlier episode that love has many forms, so I feel like even if he doesn't love her romantically yet and just have a small crush, he still loves her in the friendship sense, so maybe that's why he didnt answer :P
I can see why all the demons are so eager to visit the human realm, especially with the wilderness feeling so bleak. Since demons are essentially immortal (unless they're purposely killed), they don’t have to worry about aging or the passage of time. ZYZ said that it takes them centuries or even millennia to develop certain emotions, and they don’t need to worry about things like getting cold, aging, or even needing food or drink. When you really have nothing to worry about or nothing to look forward to, life does get boring. Humans, on the other hand, have to deal with all of these things because life is short, which pushes us to make the most of every moment. We get creative and start to invent things. But when you can live for thousands of years, each day probably starts to feel like just another one.
I was originally thinking "why can't the demons just make the demon realm like the human realm". But if you think about it, that's impossible. For instance, no demons are going to open a restaurant in the wilderness, if demons don't need to eat, and the demon selling don't need the money because what would it even be used for? So the only drive would be fun and motivation, but apparently most demon lack basic humans emotions lol

1. He simply wants to feel /be like an ordinary human. 2. He once mentioned how much he disliked pushing swings, and though he would push it for Wen Xiao, he would only use his powers, never touching it directly. But in his dream, we see him willingly push it himself, symbolizing his love and devotion to her.
