Time constraint makes us prone to use our own criterias and standards as many of us are already multitasking and don't have too much leisure time. I see your POV. For me,the reasonings came from visual clues dropped, acting and analysingML and situations. -He's immature, impulsive.hot-headed,clever but not wise,and arrogantly thinking he's royal and bright enough to out-smart any body. From1st epi.saw him back to the capital from his supposed exile to kill an official who had killed his mentor.( Shen is his contrast. Audience scene with emperor saw him calmly and diplomatically stating facts on reasons he stepped out of line. He's mature and methodical with an analytical mind and legal prowess to counterattack any evidences and statements with aplomb.). ML fell in love at 1st sight with a woman he was investigating. (Compare AYTO with same premises but different hairstyles. Tight bun at top- self discipline and mature. Here its's pony-tai style - boyish and devil-may-care.- ZWY has given tips! 1 reason I respect and admire him is choosing scripts with connections). He gave her the benefit of the doubt and made his feelings top priority over duty. Typical of cheeky, royal brat! ZWY portrayed him so charmly convincingly!

Thanks. The YT link helped me to understand what you are getting at. The dramas you named , I have not watch, as not to my taste, except Blossom. Plot is very important to me because if it's not interesting ,I don't watch them even if they are popular.
Drama is not confusing and also as a non-novel reader,visually ,drama is dropping clues that said 1000 words.
-FL was the only 1 reborn. Clues from acting and hair-styles. From the flashback,FL has braids and ML has bangs with flowing hair which made both look youthful. Now, FL always has top bun and acting more mature,( like a noona romance), fusion of “old” soul with present soul. Contrast to Ml still youth with hair in short ponytail ,and ZWY acted more boyish and goofy, especially seen in the bedside scene with FL and 2ML.
-FL hazy recollection of NanWu which she can't recall of what role with the tattoo. In the past timeline, she was like an orphan pushed out of her homeland. But now, her 1st priority is to save her family.Tattoo is treason.
