Yep initially it looks toxic. .but overall I dont think XL&XY relationship is toxic. Theres something more than romance there. But for most romantic I will say is TSJ&XY. .at least for and they get together at the end of novel. Jing is the only one she officially loves and its the only man she kissed consciously too. Im on YaoJing ship. So. .😅😁 (YaoLiu fans think their cp is more romantic...well it depends I prefer Jing..especially in the second half of the novel)

Yeo..to me all four main characters here are flaws yet merit, that include YSQ/TSJ too. If we really think and understand. ..it makes how TSJ is taking time in handling his family issue yet betrayed by it. Maybe because I have read novel, so i understand why the plot is like that. Its for both XY and TSJ to get more mature and XY to know more about her own heart and XL involvement too. If you are hesitated u can wait till S2 air and binge watch or u can watch S1 and then go read novel like many of us here.

Yep. .YaoJing is OTP in novel..think also in drama because they kiss several times but we have admit that Xiao Yao actually loves two man romantically (TSJ and XL) for reasons but its different type of romance. She officially loves only one. There's nothing to be feel bad about it though. Because its natural for us to fall in love more than once. And her love for Cang Xuan is strong too although not in romance sense. It's a refreshing drama ..i dont want you to skip it. Some may say XY&XL is passionate. But to me XY&TSJ are more sensual and passionate whereas XY&XL are more playful yet tension too. I concluded like that after watching and reading novel several times. That maybe different from other fans. But thats how i think.

I came into the drama and I was actually very attached to Cang Xuan character. No wonder since he's the main lead. But I think Cang Xuan realized his feelings for Xiao Yao quite later after she became a woman again. But still he had to keep those feelings because of his working to the throne. I see some people have problematic with his being cousin with Xiao Yao. But this is historical Xianxia drama. So kinds of relationships are possible. I think it's fine shift between present reality and historical fiction and enjoy the scenes. And for Xiang Liu, although he had most fans, but some people can still have problematic with his initial rough behaviour towards, Xiao Yao. Again keep in mind that this is fiction. We can all clearly see that he actually like her since early on when Xiao Yao was still in man body but he had this sort of self defense for his feelings that he may seem to be pushing her away by seemly hurting her or even using her but he was giving her a lot too. I think he don't know how to show his feelings too? And yep there's must be a reason why he is liked by many..right. But yep I feel for him a lot as well and wished he had confessed at the same time i was yelling at him in my mind that just keep suffering man, since you dont take risk to let out feelings.
