anyways the way people come and defend "The double" is crazy even after I said it was great show that didn't deserve to be among the best shows.If you don't think it's rating are because it was highly addictive great soap opera than you are naive, but that's just my personal opinion.it literally was all about a woman taking revenge with 1000+ plot armor that made most people here feel good and hence the rating.

Well then ask the legit reviewers they will tell you the diff between soap opera vs legit good show, just bcz a show got a good rating at mdl doesn't mean it's a great show and that was what the whole comment was all about , I still stand with hormonal statement lol, just check the hormonal high shows - hidden love, the double which lacked even a good storyline ( just copy pasted bs) are rated 8.9 and 9. Again I am not saying that these are bad shows I am literally saying that these were underdog shows that people weren't expecting much from than they turned out to be great
And then that's where the hormonal ratings kicked in but nvm it's hard to discuss logical or even structural issues of shows on this platform. I am happy atleast there are some sane people here which have kept this shows rating atleast around 8.4 ( anything above 8.5 is pretty good).

I mean see the perfect example of fanboying right here, this is what I mentioned above. An underdog drama turned out to be pretty good now people like these are making the actors/actresses the best out there, the drama as an exceptional one. Just ask any good reviewer (hell even a director) and they will tell you what is wrong with "the double" being called the greatest show of 2024. But that's beside the point, and no offense but "the double" didn't require much from their actors/actresses, yes they did a great job but that doesnt mean shit comparing a average show vs acting in a great show with multiple lvl of of emotions and scenic requirement. Let me tell you what the best part was of "The Double" - A feel good story line with 1000+ plot armor for the female character, the happiness that comes from taking revenge and good chemistry, that made it a highly addictive soap opera that it is. That was only possible with good directions (expect those weird camera shots) and good soundtrack backing it all up. Rest all was good nothing too great.

Well 2 things :
1. You clearly missed the point that is a show with defects can get 8.9 while a much better show is at 8.4.Also you don't seem to realise how scoring works here at mdl, try checking the algo they have used and you will realise for it to get anywhere near 8.9 , every person from now needs to rate this 9.5 and above and number of people rating this after this needs to be way higher than the current number is.
2. 8.9 itself is atrocious if you try to see tht from a neutral mind instead of letting your hormones talk, too many things that were missing in script and production, again not bashing it I think it was a tremendous show with what they had but that's not how you compare 1v1. Also the way that rating increased was people posting in comments to rate every episode etc. so lot of fanboying (this is what happens when a underdog show turns out to be really good in early 10-20 episodes).

This show makes me believe most of mdl watchers prefer only hormonal bs like the double than a rather complex show which builds it's character like this show. that rating diff is crazy considering this has way way better story , better character development and way better production. I agree that there are issues like maybe fast pacing intorudcing too many characters on earlier episodes but man this show is exactly like the core chinese dramas like sword snow stride and others where there is complex politics, main character development for me atleast that is what attracted me to chinese dramas. Again not dishing on "the double" it had it's strong points ( very addictive high anticipation, leading to hormonal high for people) but that had too many gaps for a 8.9 rating compare to this show getting 8.4 lol. Again I have only watched like 8 episodes but man uphill now this seems to be close to the epic ones with core chinese style of writing.

For anyone thinking of watching this, just finish 6-8 episodes initially they are slightly slow and hard to like post which this becomes quite a great show. There are no usual clichés and it remains true to traditional wuxias with a good storyline.Only downside is unlike traditional pieces the main character can't actually fight, so the low rating by the "hormone" driven audience ( that has given the double 8.9 rating , still can't believe that lol).

When hormones high kids put the double over such a good written storyline you know you can't trust the ratings lol. The double is literally a highly addictive soap opera that has become so popular on this site just because it excited people hormones

Again, you are missing the point about traffic actors lol, try to learn market sizing and you will understand how it works. So let's say dilraba right, she caters to 100 people put of which 20 are her fans and let's say there are 5 more active traffic actors with a combined share of 60-70% , so the hate votes typically will come from that 60-70% so even if 20 votes go in favor there is high chance 60-70 would go against ( unless the show is really good) . Now coming back to this one since none of the actors are traffic actors here there is no perceived threat ( it's like if 2 people are competing and 1 might win the people supporting the 2nd one might find it better for the 3rd one to win) and that along with "not much expectations" for the show have led to people giving it higher rating because who doesn't like a underdog ( if you watch sports or any competitive event you could understand this). This is how logical thinking works ( well if you could understand this than we wouldn't be having this discussion, and you will realize "the non-sense elements I mentioned about this show". This is a highly addictive soap opera that is nothing spectacular from a neutral standpoint, that's how I will put it. Also, I would be fine with 8.4-8.5 rating of this if it was till 30ish episode ( it was highly engaging uphill tht point even though it had major flows).Post that it goes downhill but people with the gun go ho support just ignored how bad the last 2 episodes are. It's worse than one punch man plot armor (and at least that show mentions this clearly and hence is so highly acclaimed).

For the premise, its pointless to discuss now, since its hard to debate against fangirling and that one is a subjective aspect, cant explain to you in numbers etc.

Anyhow, maybe people watching it now (whole 40 episodes together) will judge it better, but again I don't have many hopes since there is rarely much change in ratings of the show after it ends. (At least Douban rating has fallen to 6.6 now, I guess people can be sometimes smarter in some places:D). Another mdl show whose ratings don't make sense.

I dont know, it was good in early episodes like till 30th or something that it just started going flat until the end where it was all wishy washy. I have just watched trailers of princess royal, I thought that would have better chemistry than this but again cant say rn

Yes, first 30 episodes were quite engaging and that nxt episode element was high, here's a good summary I saw in one of the review: "This is a super addictive soap opera that doesn't hold up under close scrutiny. Where it excels is in serving up high drama and angst with super cool and satisfying but absurd vignettes that don't necessarily advance the plot. Nonetheless I was happy to rate this better than 8.5 until it started to sag and waffled into a lame and wishy washy ending that leaves me no choice but to call it an 8.0/10.0."

Lol, again this was one of the good cdramas but my only issue is "8.9" to a show that has nothing spectacular. Also I didn't mention any flaws (even though there are many) . If lacking character depth in characters can be a good thing, then yes 7 billion is just too much population for the world:D

Let me put it, in easy words - fun, illogical guilty pleasure! Fast Food entertainment that is engaging but when you move above your hormones you will realize that its empty (lacks substance and depth, but you have to praise the director other than the camera angles everything was spot on till like 30-32 episodes) drama with shit last 3-4 episodes. Again, not saying drama is bad, just rating is too overhyped led by "feel good" element of the show, here's one thing for you to think - the premise of the show was to prove her innocence, that never happened lol, a guilty pleasure (and the ratings) doesn't mean show is as spectacular as you believe. And no offense but none of the actors here are traffic actors (so no actual hate ratings here, that most of the better overhyped shows have) as you believe (and hence the acclaim it is getting ). Also, it's not about bad ending or anything there were things especially in last few episodes that were literal nonsense, character depth other than the leads were inconsistent and lacking, not to mention an average story but again that's only clear if you move above hormones.

NC joke lol, it's a decent show overhyped by people nothing spectacular , and no offense people calling fl smart don't know "smart" actually means.

only God knows how this is 8.9 lol, I mean it's could have been 8.4ish ( without those last 3-4 episodes, especially the last one) but man oh man mdl strikes hyping an average show with no sense ending ( and lead up to it), The show turned from switch off your brain and watch and you will like it to, forget you have brain and keep believing it was really good to make up for all the loopholes, no sense things happening. I mean this should be at max around 8.1-8.2 lol. Yes, it was entertaining (well at least till 30ish episode) and I don't mind loopholes or average acting in some cases, but for complete 40 episodes it's just a show you won't regret watching nothing spectacular here with a typical no sense last cdrama episode.

Reasons why this is what it is:
1. Overcompensation by people as this started as underrated drama and people were surprised that it turned out to be good
2. No big traffic actor so no hate ratings
3. A feel-good drama with no angst or scenario where main leads can fail or be wrong
4. Lack of good cdramas in 2024
