LOL thank you for the explanation, I appreciate it. Tbh was gonna leave the original comment on read but I was just so flabbergasted I needed to respond
I’m spamming the comments but I’m rly worried about the ending LOL
For some reason I’m afraid the son is hers, and there will come a situation where she has to pick between her son’s life or San Ho’s. Or her decision to save her son will somehow unknowingly play a role in his death.
Interesting... I'd be curious to know which parts u felt were plot holes. Tbh I've noticed more plot conveniences…
I swear I typed out a bunch of examples but it didn’t post TT
But I agree with you that i shouldn’t have said plot holes but rather plot conveniences / underexplained rationale. They explained why the FL came back to Korea and wanting to give back to the country and trying to understand why her husband died despite all the reasons not to but I personally think her rationale was a bit weak (but that’s prob just be my personal values vs hers hah). Like if the marriage has been strained for 10 years and I find out he had a mistress (although I think there’s more to that) and everyone wants to kill me for digging more into it… I’d prob dip
I feel like the script has a lot of plot holes but I just can’t prove it cuz we’re being bombarded with plot twists and so much info. I don’t really mind, just wanted to put it out there haha
Can I take that at the end in the Modern World that is the same Sima Jiao or a different him? These two questions…
I’d like to think he moved heaven and earth to find her again, since the FL’s last convo with him was that she wasn’t from his realm (wishful thinking ik)
ML stayed behind and missed his flight while waiting for FL to show up, so most fans would probably think he remembers…
Yes!!! I really appreciate the screenwriter and director dropping clues throughout the entire series to support the fact that they remember each other in the fourth life, without being explicit about it (prob trying to circumvent censorship but still give us closure)
Saw a comment on tiktok and it made me like the ending more. Especially during the mortal realm arc, the FL repeatedly said she was happy that the ML left behind his traumatic life and is now living a simpler and happier life (as an emperor lol):
I see many of you are not satisfied with the end of Hien Ngu, but if you look carefully at the last dialogue of Dinh Nhan before leaving Sima Xiao, I feel very satisfied. Fate is a very miraculous thing. Meeting each other and loving each other in one life is difficult, but Liao Dinh Nhan and Sima Xiao have been involved in three lives. Each life, they have pain, sacrifice, there are untold feelings. But all this is just to prove that, in the midst of thousands of events, they always find each other. In the end, in the modern - fourth life, they meet again. This time there is no hatred, no burden of fate. Only two ordinary people, have the opportunity to start again, write their own love story. That end, though open, is a closed circle. They have fulfilled the predetermined debt in three lives, so that they are free to hold hands in the new life. What is not happy, not happy?
I was worried about WYL’s ability to deliver on the more emotional + “mature” scenes given her deadpan (but hilarious) role in I Am Nobody but boy am I glad to be proven WRONG.
Don’t love the ending but I’m fine with it given censorship reasons
9.5/10; only gripe is that I wish they shortened the demon realm arc and prolonged the mortal realm arc where WYL was really showing her acting chops

And when he goes in to kiss the FL and his hands are bigger than her entire face huehue
Sorry I’m having withdrawals ~
