same! I haven't seen any of SJK dramas, but I'm really digging this one. I might start watching his other projects…
To see his best acting, you can check: 1. Innocent Man 2012 drama -> his first drama lead role 2. Tree with Deep Roots 2011 drama (he appears episode 1-4 and episode 8 as the younger version of the king). Here's a clip of his amazing cameo in this show when he was younger before he got leading roles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKTlqyGUmIU (check 21:41 to see his part ==> this part of the drama is in episode 8) => he also confronts a senior actor here similar to what he's doing now in Reborn Rich. In this particular clip, he's actually playing the same character as the older acting he's a faceoff with. SJK's other appearances in this show is in the first four episodes. 3. Werewolf Boy -> he speaks very few words, but his acting is moving 4. Arthdal Chronicles -> he plays 2 roles (the more interesting of the two roles first appears in episode 6-7). Drama is waiting for season 2, but SJK will not return, however it's really worth checking out to see his acting.
I can't help but think that it might take some time for people to get to to use to the female lead because her beauty and looks is quite different from SJK's previous female leads. Not that his previous female leads (Song Hye Kyo, Moon Chae Won, Kim Ji Won, Kim Tae Ri, etc) look alike but it's that their kind of beauty is similar to each other and thekind of beauty of the female lead here is kinda different. (Note that i'm not in anyway criticizing anyone's looks). I haven't seen her in anything but so far in this drama she's not doing any bad acting. edit: I'm mainly talking about viewers who are watching this for SJK (and thus are used to watching his other dramas/movies). I think female lead is so far doing her job well.
Please to all viewers of this drama have in mind that most of the scenery was filmed n Greece not the Uruk as…
People who watched it back then knew it was from Greece. This drama also contributed to Greece tourism during that year. They renamed the country Uruk to avoid political bs.
I'm in the minority but the adult playing the second lead female Kim Min Seo is my fave adult cast member, she made me pity the for the loveless queen. Her situation is so pitiful and sad. Who cares if she looks older than the male lead, she's amazing.
Is this drama worth watching? I personally like Historical/ Sageuks KDrama with not too much romance. I like poignant…
Yes it is, it has some fight scenes but the best scenes are of the king and how he created hangul and how he debates to himself or to others if hangul will benefit the kingdom. This drama won not just best drama but daesang (highest award) back in 2012 baeksang which was really well deserved. You can go to dramabeans too and see people commenting on the episodes of this drama during the time this drama was airing, and I think those are some reviews you can trust the most (as they were watching it when the drama was new).
Somehow, I want him to play King Sejong role again (really love his Tree with Deep Roots appearance), I just want at least one serious sageuk role of him to be as well loved as his recent modern dramas. Maybe if there's a King Sejong biopic movie from his younger years to his death to be released on Hangul day, they can cast him (they'll get him since they need someone old enough to play old King Sejong but young enough to play young King Sejong). Preferably non-romance (he can have a wife in the drama for sure).
If I were to choose a new costar (someone he has never acted before) for him in a new drama or movie , I want to see him with Ha Ji Won, Son Ye Jin, or Han Ji Min. It's interesting that he hasn't acted with a top actress close to his age (less than 5 years age gap from him) except for a very few.
Did they air episode 8 this tuesday (seeing from countdown it's already for episode 9)? I thought they'll just air episode 7 and air episode 8 next week since the airing for yesterday was postponed?
