omg. When I googled, I went to that site MILLION TIMES looking for the video ... and only now, I saw the buton that says Ep 1... THANK YOU!

In Wonderful Nightmare the script and filiming are rather choppy less interesting. FL gets a lot more time than ML. He is very handsome but his role is tiny and he never gets "his face all over the screen" so that we can see his emotions.

AND .... drumroll.... his acting in the current My Troublesome Star is sooo much better. And his face is even more catchy bc the eyes and the facial expression are a lot more ... peaceful and "glowing". And he gets more screen time and "head shot" screen time so we can enjoy his facial expressions.
It is interesting to see career development.

FYI I found Wonderful Nightmare movie ENG SUB from 2016, with the same ML and FL . I will put it as a spoiler to save space.

Mama Choi's drama of taking matters in her own hands and creating CHAOS is just ... disgusting. I fast forward throygh the start of ep 88 .... She REALLY royally messed up too many times and created suffering and drama..... e.g:
hiding dementia from her family - brilliant way to cause being lost and kidnapped etc etc etc

yeah not having a stash is hard to believe. Not working as Designer L was reasonable, she was too shaken up to work back then

This drama is such a gem, so tricky. I totally love this drama. I first noticed that ML is a really handsome guy and a super duper amazing actor. The other characters tricked me a lot more.
It took to ep.4 or 5 to stop being annoyed by the FL silly and gain a DEEP respect for her when I saw her actively work for herself, esp in scene when she goes back to film with the female lead who slaps her. **FL is very smart and wise.

I am completely fascinated by acting of the older Detective. Such an amazing actor. And also very handsome. His face is so... expressive.
His scene at the start of ep4 is one of the best scenes of ML in romance
The older version detective comes in as a very ordinary beat-up guy but then ... you gain respect as how much a great guy he is and also a super hot hero. That actor is really impressive!!!!

And the villain... DID ANYONE EXPECT HIM TO BE THE VILLAIN? bc we meet him in a very funny flare up on a very funny disease LOL so did anyone expect him to be th villain??
It is fascimating, I saw him in Once Again as a good guy and it is interesting how the SAME facial expressions can change into bad guy just by changing what he is saying...

This role is more makjang, very theatrical, and very dramatic, does not require holding a conversation or scenes from normal life. In this role he has the advantage of the horse, of the robe, of his sword, killing people, causing chaos, etc. Very different than a guy in real life being in a relationship, wher there is a lot more nuance acting and a bigger range of emotion. This role here allows for those but the scenes are a lot shorter and less demanding emotionally. He is a great comedian, for example when he begs her to unrope him and he will give he a royal favor. He definitely can act a wide range of emotion.
To see a really good example of amazing acting of a "normal guy" watch the start of ep 4 of My Troublesome star when the detective meets with her and speaks to her thanking her. THAT is masterful beyond masterful acting.

But I dont think he was finandically desperate. He was some kind of boss, department head? So he made decent money he was NOT poor.

they didnt wait 7 years to start stealing. They started immediately as Catherine did the work for GC and created those fake contracts etc.. ....stuff that Do Hee found out. Did they also create a slush fund,,,, ?

GC would NOT be interesting to SR unless he had full access to YL. So I say, he definitely was hooked up tight with JI when he ran into Se Ri. I would say, he was probably FIANCE of Jae In and just about to get married when Se Ri found him. Probably his "success" of getting into chaebol family made him very giddy and cocky and susceptible to SeRi, who either put the idea or flamed his already existing idea that he should take a lot more from these rich people and one day kick them out and take over.
GC and SR as Catherine started stealing from YL asap

I cannot even comprehend how she thinks, but I doubt that she enjoys the sex. I THINK SHE CANNOT FEEL. I think she enjoys the CONTROL and TORTURING others, having then in her hand, and her getting something out of it.

Yeah! he is totally messed up.... hooking up TIGHT with that murderer 4th consort and letting her do whatever does NOT speak well of him at all... Trying to chop off hnds just bc and killing left and right... wow. And...romantically falling for FL bc she reminds him of his mother... ??? wow that's a sexual disfunction.
The clown made me think of drama The King and the Clown... where the king is shown as having mama sexual disfunction .... and also as gay, with the clown. And yeah crazy insane tyrant.
In this drama, the clown - supposedly his best friend - is the assassin???

So definitely there is a historical king addressed here...
So yeah the drama is about rewriting the history... ? an older more mature woman basically rehabs him because he threatens to kill her and then essentially rapes her.... So she is forced to be his lover, his maid, his mommy, his nurse, etc.
It's ok if he truly falls in love and changes but ... he got a long way to go

I think lust is just her tool to grab a sugar daddy she deems profitable. I dont think she is after lust. I think she is after $$$$$$$

The filming is amazing, the angles etc are so cool .
The story is a twist on the old trope of a cruel cold ML with a traumatic past, who gets softened by the caring FL. But there is a twist here. The cruel ML immediately shows the weak, soft and caring side . Dragging him on that rope and feeding him was hilarious. And the FL is competent. And the sexism is softened by the HUMOR that she brings as the story is told from the comical point of 21st century - ,,,,,
but..... the reality is, the dude is a serial killer. Very cute and sexy buff, but a serial killer and also with that female villan as his chick who had him wrapped around her finger. Brrrr... murderers. And the crazy thing - she reminds him of his mom. Some serious crazy.
So yeah we can say the drama is fun and it is, it is tragicomical from one perspective, but it is chilling actually. Scenes where she has to kiss his royal as@ to avoid torture and death are not funny at all.
It really reminds me of Boys Over Flowers, a psychotic violent wealthy ML who uses the FL as a personal psychiatric nurse and babysitter. That drama was really for a psych ward.
This drama is the SAME concept, but it takes it much lighter and makes it fun, partially bc the ML was shown in vulnerable situations too and as someone who cares, and bc the FL is shown as an independent adult, confident and capable. But the fact is... he basically raped her.... tried to kill her so many times... etc etc etc I think th most fun is her bossing him around and he has to eat it in spite of all his entitlements .... and of course, his caring for her after all. But it is like ... a shark likes you... and will not eat it now but later..LOL . Hopefully he transforms fast...

Everyone dies at the end :) But does he die before she does? Apparently she was already in the Joseon, then they had a love affair, then she left back to the future and he wrote that book, and then the book called her back to the beginning. So in some sense, they are rewriting the book..
Where will the pair settle? Why not bring him into the future, if his career (and life) end at some exile...?
So that old grandpa living next door could be the King in retirement :)
