mbc should release a statement saying it's not the actors fault! this is crazy, prominent actors should take notes…
I just came here to say the same thing! The actors are responsible for how they present the story, not for the way it's written! The director and producer should have hired someone to make sure everything was done the proper way. How would the average person even know about those details?
Duuuudeee i didnt know his brother was actually dead until the last ep
I kind of suspected it when the brother said all he wanted to do was lay around and read...and then his parents never mention the brother when they have meals with the ML.
I think I can relate well to the younger couple's story because I am the same age as they would be now., if they were real. I was a teenager/young adult in the 70s, and if things went well for them, they'd be in their late 60s or early 70s just like me.
Was Xu Hong Qi replaced in her position as leader of the factory because of her ties to the old regime?
She's not the most likeable character but I could relate to how she felt when she lost her position. After spending so long at her job and then being demoted in front of everyone would be a bitter pill to swallow. I know she still has a job, but still...it's hard to accept.
I hope this gets added to viki or something like that. I don't want to subscribe to any more streaming services at the moment. I think Wang Rui Chang is a good actor and I want to watch the series, but I'm holding out hope I can see it without paying Tencent for it.
They are frustrating but I wonder if it's a cultural thing. I think in Chinese families, sons are expected to…
If I was Lin Mei and my family trashed my husband like that, I'd never go back, especially since his family seems to like her well enough.
I think it's interesting that the official government stance at the time was that all people should be treated the same, and yet Lin Mei is hung up on the way other people will perceive her husband's job. Fei Ting wants to earn money but he doesn't want to work in an office all day. Lin Mei and her family seem to think that makes him a lower class person. I guess old habits are hard to break.
Depending on what happens to Lin Mei’s family and Feng Li, I might raise my rating by the end. I can’t remember…
They are frustrating but I wonder if it's a cultural thing. I think in Chinese families, sons are expected to care for their elderly parents and daughters go with their husband to care for his parents. Lin Mei's family wanted her to marry someone that would have connections so her brother could get a better job, and therefore he'd be better able to care for his parents. Is that a good thing? No, because they're putting themselves above her happiness, but from what I've read, it wasn't an uncommon practice at the time. Hopefully her family will get what they really deserve by the end of the series.
Bit disapointed... Not that the show is bad, but maybe I expected too much. I expected more mystery games and…
I think the murder mystery game was supposed to be a twist on the 'meet cute' trope, and they did use it to show that the female lead was very intelligent and able to solve problems in an unconventional manner. However, it would've been nice if the writers had given more emphasis to the game later on in the series.
I understand how you feel. It bothers me a bit when they refer to the ML has having a mental illness that may…
I can see your point. To me he's acting that way because he had regained his memory much sooner than he let on, so he chose to act silly because that's how people expected him to act. In other words, he was intelligent enough to be sly and get what he wanted. But that's just my point of view. I respect your opinion.
Well he's hurt his head and became amnesiac,i guess he acted really well based on your comment 😀
It's not like he took the money and went out drinking with his friends. He had good intentions, but he went about it the wrong way. He has stated many times that he wants her to go to college. He learned from his mistake, and they'll move on.
I have a massive problem with this drama and its representation of amnesia. First of all, let’s get this straight,…
I understand how you feel. It bothers me a bit when they refer to the ML has having a mental illness that may cause him to go crazy, etc.
However, I think we need to consider that this story is set in a time frame that was 50 years ago, when traumatic brain injuries were not as well understood as they are today. It was a period of upheaval, and doctors may have had very little training in how to deal with such injuries. Even if they had understood, they may not have had facilities available necessary for him to receive the treatment he needed.
I do think your points are valid, and if those opinions keep you from enjoying the series, I respect your choice.

The young actor who plays the young Feng Mu Yang looks a lot like Arthur Chen, IMO. That was great casting.
