I never asked anyone to be invincible. That's your talking point. Not mine. And the leads weren't incompetent - the writers made them so in the capital to push the narrative of ambition and power being bad and one should just aim for the simple life.

AND you're continuing to willfully miss the point. I literally said it should be a balance. A chess match. NOT a slaughtering BECAUSE the show established that the leads were smart and resourceful. Dealing with her Grandma, the Crown Prince and the leadership in Ganlin AND imperial court officials in the first half of the series were NOT average citizens. C'mon. They showed them to be smart and capable even in the face of immense adversity and then decided they were complete idiots once moving them to the capital. A blind man could see some of these plots unfold.

Way to miss the point. lol The series set this two up as not the average pair. They were smart, calculating and resourceful. Then moved them to the capital and turned them into wimpy, bumbling fools who couldn't plot their way out of a paper bag. The "realism" I'm speaking of pertains to the world the writers established in the first half of the series...not realism as it applies to the real world. C'mon. Don't be literal just to make a point.
Last thought as I finish up my breakfast and get back to writing:
I want C-Dramas (and K-Dramas) to free themselves from the idea that it is okay to drag your leads through the mud for the last half of a series, but as long as they win in the last episode or two it's all good.
Like - I get some people like the suffering - but some of us want a balanced story. Evil wins some. Good wins some. A nice push and pull. A chess match. But it reeks of deus ex machina when the leads lose and lose and lose and then MAGICALLY it all works out in the end.
It's exhausting and not very realistic if you will.
Do u think politics is easy, it seems you aren't understanding the message of the drama.
If you like that type of story, fine. I don't. lol. I'm tried of people retiring to the countryside to live "simple" lives when the show starts off as having badass leads who are out here kicking ass and taking names.

The message of the drama is too much ambition and power is bad and one should aim for and be happy with a simple, stable life. They are going to leave the capital, give up their official post and go grow vegetables in Ganlin. What exactly am I missing?
Look I fully understand that the theme of this series is Ambition Bad! Power Bad! Go Home and Raise Vegetables!
However - Madam Yu is running circles around everyone. Based on spoilers and future clips, she's out here kicking ass and taking names leaving our leads flat footed and holding the bag. They really took smart, calculating leads and turned them into Keystone Cops once they got to the capital. lol
Oh and there is a spoiler involving the emperor if true is just ridiculous. Totally unnecessary this late in the season, doesn't make much sense and totally exists to ensure our leads eschew power and return to the countryside to raise vegetables.
Look I get it. I get it. Ambition bad! Power bad! Vegetables good!
Its a great idea the only thing is I don't think ZL will ever agree to pimping his wife out! Besides YJX is a…
There's no meaningful distinction between those two things. And my OG point wasn't about killing someone - you bought that into the convo. lol. There are any number of options that are better than what they are doing AND killing people who need to die doesn't make you a monster. That's the price of going after evil people. Like Zhao killing FL dad for poisoning her mom. Is he a monster now? Or did pops have it coming?

Sigh. I feel like at this point you're just missing the point on purpose. No one is saying for them to kill innocent people. For example per my original post Young Master Yu isn't an innocent person - he's tried to kill both the ML and the FL - and he can be used as leverage against the Yus. When you fight a villain you play to win WITHOUT going after innocents but it doesn't mean that you can't take people out. We've seen them do this in Ganlin...to villains. lol.

The dumb plot point with the emperor is real ya'll!!!
Sigh.

lol
The Writers: Hey we're gonna have the Yus use their terrible son as leverage to distract from their evil plans and help blunt ML investigation.
lol
At least the writers aren't incompetent they just want the leads to suffer so they will eschew power and go home and raise vegetables. lol
