I've watched until ep 18 and paused, because I was busy... but reading recent comments, I don't feel excited to…
Yep. If all you gonna do is make your leads suffer for half the season what's the point? The suffering no longer has any dramatic value and it just feels like you're piling on just to pile on. It's torture porn at this point.
Episode 31:The flow of this episode, the specific scenes they chose to include, the acting. Everything was so…
The emperor was wrong. Why do people rationalize bad decisions/behavior. It could have been dealt with another way. It's dumb writing to make the leads life as miserable as possible just so they can decide to go back to Ganlin and raise some vegetables.
Man the series was like - we're gonna make everyone a bumbling idiot so the Yus can mow them down one by one.…
And this is where we disagree. Ruthlessness works in the capital. Very well. You gotta be willing to walk over corpses - we know he is - just the *right* corpses so you're on the right side of things. His years of being an outlaw and the BS he saw in Ganlin would have prepared him for the capital. He plotted to KILL Young Master Yu when he got there and would have been succeeded if not for his wife. You think THAT guy is out of his depth with a bunch of gangsters in the capital?

I don't completely disagree with your point. My only issue is we've seen the leads willingness to be ruthless in Ganlin - and they just took all that away from them in the Capital. Our ML really thinks he's gonna paperwork his way into a victory with the Yus. Like..c'mon.
I don't necessarily agree with your other posts below, but this one gets +1 from me.It's always been an issue,…
I chuckled...yeah Threads of Destiny did do a lil' too much there particularly near the end.
Those two dramas are excellent!
I could have lived without some of the attempts at comedy in "Are You the One "(lol) but they both have strong leads that aren't dumbed down to move the plot along.
"The Road to Splendor is way too good compared to Pursuit of Jade”Someone said this on a post and most people…
The Road to Splendor's pacing is better. The Big Bads also get more air time than in POJ. The side characters are much more developed and integral to the plot.

Oh the Yus are awesome. I'd give the show a 7.1 for them alone. lol. Madam Wei has been fun. And even Madam Wu (who overplayed her hand) has been enjoyable. There's a lot to like here....just want this tired trope to end.
Interestingly enough shorts don't really do this. I guess b/c they have so little time to tell a story they don't waste their time with making the leads dummies to move the story along.
SMH.
They haven't' even started the prison arc.
Heck in ep. 35 the ML is STILL going through it.
At least I'll always have the first 18 episodes.
'Cause be for real. That would just be too damn much. SMH.
