Question to the novel readers - I haven’t gotten to ep. 17 yet fyi. But do we know why XZ never shared his identity with Changyu up until this point? My brain can come up with some reasons why he wouldn’t, such as her knowing who he is could put her in danger, etc. but is there another reason? Just curious.

I hear ya. I guess I’ll just have to see how it plays out in the drama. If they clearly show that the breakup is because of the negative association with her and his family’s death, I could probably grudgingly tolerate it… but what would be harder for me to deal with is if he somehow blames her or directs his anger at HER for what her parents did when she was a baby. I guess we will see. I hope it doesn’t drag out long. The back and forth discussed above sounds tiring.

Like an actual breakup? Sheesh it sounds like a lot of back and forth drama :/ . I kinda hope they deviate a little from the novel with this. If the breakup is because of “I am mad at you because of what your ancestors did to my ancestors that you had no control over” - I struggle a lot with that stuff. Others say they don’t divorce per-say, but yet others indicate a breakup. Sounds confusing lol 😅
Okay so obviously the angst / separation is fast approaching and I’m debating when to hold off on watching episodes so I can binge through the separation arc. Do we have any idea what episode he leaves and which one they see each other again? Also, use spoiler tags 😊

I think in episode 23 or so Ms Xu gets demoted. A few episodes after that Ling Yi gets what is coming to her… Feng Lin is a bit later, probably like 27/28ish.
