Yeah it’s disappointing. I am still trying to understand it so it won’t dampen my love for this drama. But…
Thank you, this also helps me. I WANT to understand this because this is shaping up to be one of my favorite dramas of all time and I do not want to start disliking it. I appreciate this perspective as well.
i kinda understand it though. imagine telling your wife, who is a commoner and who you are very much in love with,…
I appreciate this perspective, actually, thank you. You mentioning that him believing that “she fancies scholars” makes sense. She was engaged to one for a long time and then she believed that XZ was one when they were living together in the village. And then Zheng’s jab in 17 about her liking scholars when they were fighting also makes sense in this context. So he would be afraid to tell her, because as a Marquis he doesn’t believe that she will still want to be with him. This is helping a lot, actually. Thank you for this perspective. A lot of other pieces and scenes from the first 16 episodes are connecting as I think more about it.
I honestly don't understand all this pointless lying and drama. It kind of ruins the show for me. It would have…
Yeah it’s disappointing. I am still trying to understand it so it won’t dampen my love for this drama. But overall it sounds like XZ never really gives a clear answer as to why, not even in the novel.
In which ep his will identity be revealed to FL ? I am just in ep 3 and i kind of don't like stretched misunderstanding…
Unfortunately I’m in the same boat. People are suspecting she will find it out in episode 26-27. They reunite in like 24, then he creates a fake Marquis to keep hiding the truth from her. 🙄She finds out a couple episodes later I guess.
Fake Marquis... really! That sounds like very cheap writing.
I am totally at a loss by this point why he is now actively creating a ruse to maintain this lie… it doesn’t make sense to me. The lying / keeping secrets tropes have had me drop dramas that I started off loving. Like does the novel ever give a reason why he did it? And you’re saying that he did not create a fake marquis in the novel?
So clarification about the timeline of stuff coming up with the leads—
They are probably gonna reunite in 24 and she will find out who he is. They will get back together I’m assuming… but then XZ discovers that her parents are connected to his dad’s death, right? So they kinda break up AGAIN at some point later on? Any idea how long the second separation will last and how close to the ending of the novel / drama it happens?
I wish we had a clear reason. It makes it hard that we don’t, buuuut it looks like our leads may not have any…
Seriously thank you for this. I didn’t know what to make of the cliff scene until you gave your interpretation of it and it makes SO much more sense to me now! I was wrestling with it for a while feeling pretty stumped by it. 🙏🏻I also like your thoughts on his reasons for keeping his identity a secret. It would make sense if he liked how she treated him like a normal person and didn’t want that to change. And perhaps there is an element of him worried scout letting her down. I do hope that we get a scene of him explaining his reasons to her later on.
The two men guarding our heroine when the blind lady brings back her clothes, FL called them “fake soldiers,”…
They were really XZ’s men, but she didn’t know that. The last thing she remembers was being chased by the crazy psychopath, so she perhaps thought that she was found after falling off the cliff.
I wish we had a clear reason. It makes it hard that we don’t, buuuut it looks like our leads may not have any…
Yeah I saw that too. He could have just looked at what she was holding and been like “oh” 😂In the novel XZ was pretty jealous and possessive, so maybe they were trying to bring that out a little. But yah, it was an… interesting scene and I wish that someone could explain the whys 😂
