Why don’t you try it and see for yourself if you like it? 🤷🏼♀️
Huh? I didn’t have a problem with it. I just think that the question is very subjective to the viewer. If you scroll you’d see a LOT of people who love the drama and comment on the chemistry, which I think is amazing with the leads. But there are probably people who didn’t like the drama. It’s all subjective - that’s all I meant.
So was the ML’s sister so selfish? Just to go to the university she betrayed her family and had her parents…
No, her parents were already arrested and sent to re-education for not aligning with the political party. She had to denounce them later on in order to get into university. The story takes place during a lot of political unrest in China.
Feng Lin might be a hater, but at least she's consistent. I don't understand Ms. Xu at all. She said if her son…
Yes exactly. We get very brief glimpses into what happened with Muyang’s family, especially from his sister, who had to denounce her entire family in order to get into college. They also shared through a flashback that Muyang’s house was raided and his parents were sent to re-education.
There was also that scene when Muyang was still in a coma when Ni closed the window / blinds and locked the room door before secretly reading a book to Muyang. So clearly the book she had in her bag was not one that was approved by the political party, and she could have gotten in trouble for owning it. From what we know of her parents, they were also likely free thinkers as well. I dunno if you watched episode 8, but Ni’s dad wants Ni to marry someone who will support her going to college. He was also listening to a radio during one scene in a recent episode, and I wondered if that would have been frowned upon. OH - and there’s also the stuff with her brother… apparently people could be sent to labor camps if their ideologies didn’t align with the political party in power and I *think* that’s what happened to her brother. He was sent away under the guise of “a great opportunity for work”. I think I vaguely remember a scene early on of them in a farming field with a huuuuuuge red political banner hanging up in the background. Anyway… I think politics is the main reason why Ni hasn’t been admitted to college 😞Everything else was just an excuse. Her being caught lying didn’t help her cause, sadly.

So I dunno if it helps, but on a different site someone who has lived childhood expriences in China during this time talked about how people were barred from attending university if it was suspected that their political ideology didn’t completely align with the communist party at the time. Apparently, Ni has been repeatedly passed over getting into university in favor of less intelligent people who have aligned with the political party. So, the larger context in all of this is the political turmoil and the cultural revolution. Intelligent, free thinkers were seen as a threat to the political movement. Apparently not a single person was admitted to university (not one) from 1966 - 1969, as it’s been said a person from a different website. And I am not claiming to be an expert, but this person’s thoughts have added a lot of perspective to the drama for me.
Haters are attacking it by downvoting as always happens on this site. Don’t pay attention to the ratings here.
Yeah. If it keeps being this good, eventually the haters would have done their damage and the ratings should become a better reflection of the honest viewers.
Fang Muyang is pretending not to remember, isn’t he? He’s very perceptive, and it seems like he understood…
I think it’s unclear at this point what all he remembers. There have been some scenes, such as when he played the piano or saw the child in the tree, when he clearly had a brief flashback of his childhood. But he’s choosing to keep those childhood memories a secret from the FL for whatever reason. It’s unclear to me why, but I am not convinced that he remembers everything. A part of me also wonders if he’s playing ignorant to protect his family in some way. I dunno. I am pleased that he didn’t seem to be angry that she took advantage of the situation to get into university.
Hahahah the man’s got it baaaad 😂I imagine he’s gonna feel pretty bad once he realizes that she spent her university savings on him 🥺I love all of the flirty smiles, the touching, the physical closeness gaahhh 👌🏻
I also immediately felt the chemistry between his sister and the doctor! I don’t typically get as much into the secondary romances but this one??? I am a little excited about them! Anyway, I’m a lot more into this one than I thought I would be.
Happy. He gets cured of the poison, they have a wedding ceremony, live happily together in the novel and then reunite in the modern world at the very end.
