Oh that makes a lot of sense. I never got into the side plots and HATED how the HK arc was handled. Ugh. No wonder it felt so contrived and inconsistent with the rest of the show.

Yeah I periodically check on updates. If I can finally just see Neo in a drama with a story I can get into that would be great 🤌🏻I also think this is TSY’s first xianxia, which is fun 🤩

I appreciate you spelling out the novel. I wonder how closely the drama will follow the it. In a lot of other shows I’ve looked at that were based off a novel, a lot of them hardly followed the novels according to others who have read them.

It looks reaaaaalllly angsty 🫣I don’t mind angst as long as it’s not all there is. I am cautiously looking forward to this one because I loooove the leads.

I watched Tan Song Yun in Sword and the Brocade and loved her sm in that one. I love Neo, but sadly I have yet to find a show that I like with him in it. Didn’t make it through BftB due to the story, dropped LitC because of the constant lying, so honestly I am looking forward to seeing Tan Song Yun the most. She’s wonderful. I’m also hoping this will be the first show that I like with Neo in it.

This is my biggest complaints with IQIYI. The song subtitled SUCKED during Fated Hearts 😤Sounds like it’s the case with this one too (haven’t started yet, worried about this one having a SE).

Yeah no worries! If TFF doesn’t work for you, you could check out “The Best Thing” if you haven’t already. There are still some undertones of emotional abuse, but it’s less highlighted. The ML is also a lot softer. 😊

Yeah I mean you do you 😊I think some of us watch TV because it’s an escape from reality, not because we are looking for real life scenarios. Hence my favorite characters in fictional stories tend to be the ones that are rough around the edges. How many characters in loved shows have killed people or have darkness to them? I dunno 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yah I remember that in the beginning. I guess I didn’t see Sang Yan as unkind. Stand-offish, yes, but not mean.

Yesssss. Sang Yan had this wonderful way of earning her trust in a way that someone may earn the trust of a frightened animal - not too straightforward lest you frighten them and they bolt, but not so disengaged and passive that they never trust. “I accidentally made extra soup, help me eat it.” / “I accidentally bought extra food, it’s on the table for you.” It was SO GOOD how he walked that tightrope of taking care of her without making it obvious to her that he was. 🫠🫠I also loved SO MUCH how Sang Yan phrased his jokes about their physical contact in such a way as to keep the power in her hands. He always painted her as the one who instigated / initiated the physical touch in order to help her feel empowered and less embarrassed / ashamed. Ugh. All the feels just thinking about him 🫠He was the best.

Sometimes it’s nice watching a show that’s relaxing, straightforward and predictable to break up the intensity of other shows 😌A breather lol
