Wow okay so holy fuck? I am assuming there’s more to the story about the death of the Prince’s kin, so I’m…
I appreciate this theory. I will probably watch this again with my partner and have this thought in mind the second time around. Still, though, the possible flaw in this theory is AFTER the assassination attempt he was in the woods with her and told her that he loved her, but was still after her dad. Sigh. And the first half of 32 was brutal. I am into 33 as of this moment, but I find it surprising how his initial treatment of her didn’t phase her feelings toward him at all (unless she’s manipulating him right now). I am not quite sure how I’m feeling about the direction the show is going. I would be PISSED if my fiancé told me that he loved me one moment, secretly planned to assassinate my dad with me there and THEN told me that he loved me afterward and no apology for being a shit. Oh, and then let’s jump right into a little bit of torturing her and seemingly enjoying it? I’m struggling lol. I’m glad I’m not the only one who is like what the actual fuck? 😂

That’s an interesting way to try to look at it, but it’s still not satisfying explanation. 😔 Not gonna lie, the first half of episode 32 is tough to watch and I am shipping the main leads less and less. I don’t see how they could realistically reconcile after the way he’s been treating her. I get his memories are gone, however, his actions should realistically kill any lingering feelings she may have for him. Especially since this is kinda who he really was before the first episode. Sure, he just rescued her from being tortured without permission buuuuut like ten minutes ago he was kinda torturing her himself and taking pleasure in it? Eeek. I dunno about this.

I think I have been having a hard time tracking where he has been at with the memory loss since the cave. He just lost them all now in the episode, so that’s a moot point. Still… if he realized he was the prince of the enemy state, and that he was in love with the daughter of the guy who killed his brother… he still kept that a secret from her and planned to assassinate her dad at his banquet with her present? I am having a really hard time wrapping my head around that.
Wow okay so holy fuck? I am assuming there’s more to the story about the death of the Prince’s kin, so I’m not as worried about that. What I AM having a REALLY hard time swallowing, though, is the fact that the ML remembered who he was, kept it a secret from the FL, AND secretly planned to assassinate her beloved dad? After he blessed their marriage? And at her dad’s birthday banquet? With her there watching? After he told her he loved her and wanted to be with her for the rest of his life? The ML lost some SERIOUS respect points for that one. If I don’t get some serious groveling once he remembers what he did, I am gonna be seriously disappointed. Like what was he thinking in between remembering who he was and the assassination attempt? Was he thinking he would just keep his identity a secret from her forever? Have her dad killed and then continue a romantic relationship with her as if nothing happened? Ok so the more that I am processing this the more it doesn’t seem right. There must be something else going on here. I have been trying to multitask with this episode, so now I’m wondering if there’s a detail I missed.
I haven’t started the show yet (waiting to see if it has a HE and to hear what the deal is with the ML and if he is redeemable and how they do it lol), but have they divorced yet? I’m assuming this question isn’t a spoiler because it’s in the synopsis 😅
In the novel, it is only a first half or 1/3 of the novel. Many things happened afterwards.
Oh well that’s good to know! I wonder how closely the drama will follow the novel in that regard. I read in some other places that some things are different.
Now let me be a bit shallow and say that I prefer or ML to have gray hair - he looked really cool with them 🤭
The Prisoner of Beauty!! 😍 Arranged marriage between two enemy clans, enemies-to-lovers, no love triangles, no dragged out angst, LOTS of scenes with the main leads, a few steamy kisses and great intimacy 🔥 *chefs kiss* I could talk about that one and When Destiny Brings the Demon aaaaalllll day.

It’s a good one! I’m going through it now. When Destiny Brings tbe Demon is also GREAT. That one and TPoB are my favorite ones. No lovely silver haired Chinese men though 😔
Well that depends on what you mean by “getting together”… they get married before episode 10 (6, I think?…
The woman is a conniving villain who plots against the leads and seeks power. The guy is related to the ML and his backstory develops as the story progresses 🙂
WEEEEEELLLLL……… 😂Not at the end of season 1. If you watch Seaosn 2 then yes… but others will say that season 2 was a disappointment even with the HE. If you want me to give you more details I can. I personally didn’t mind season 2, even though the first season was better.
So I totally get why some people would be troubled by some of the themes in this one. I also think those who are…
Yeah, I see the distinction you’re making. A lot of old traditional American movies, for example, romanticize non-consensual sex. I guess my main point is that some people may look at the ML’s behaviors in this show and find it romantic (🙋♀️) while others don’t. People connect with fictional narratives from the lens of their own internal experiences / desires, and tales of fiction provide a safe place to do that. 🤷🏼♀️
Ye Hau was doing so well until he decided he needed to force a non-consensual kiss on Bai Qian's mouth until she…
So I totally get why some people would be troubled by some of the themes in this one. I also think those who are NOT troubled by these parts are also valid. Sometimes spontaneous, sad, angsty, angry passion is someone’s cup of tea. It’s mine. I prefer that sometimes than to stilted, guarded love where someone is too afraid to act out of raw, passionate emotion. There’s no need to shame people who have different tastes in romance than you. We watch these shows to escape reality and to be able to safely fantasize about things that otherwise may be considered problematic or even criminal “in real life”. How many of your favorite fictional characters have taken coldhearted revenge on someone? Unapologetically killed someone? Assaulted someone for the “right” reasons? Or gave up the lives of a lot of other people just to save one person? Everyone has their stuff. It’s the beauty of fiction.
“Have you… visited my soul manor?”
“Yes. A lot.”
