absolutely GORGEOUS settings, the cinematography is PEAK, the acting is THE BEST ive seen in so long, and I genuinely can't praise this first episode more. you might cry, but that's just proof the drama is doing a good job of making the characters' emotions feel real.

I was actually pretty satisfied with how this episode went. Our FMC could go home and reunite with her family and the leads are interacting! While I don't quite know where the overarching plot is going, the current storyline is pretty intriguing :)ALSO, I GENUINELY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY SO MANY PEOPLE RATED THIS EP LOWER THAN THE EARLIER ONES BECAUSE THE PLOT'S ACTUALLY PICKING UP FOR ONCE 😭

and we're back with the emotions, holy shit. her line about how "when the powerful clash, the ordinary suffer" is the most apt way to summarize this entire episode.

okay so plot is still slow BUT the scenes in this episode were super important. first of all, this miss du girly is giving fake vibes. she's all sweet to everyone's face but there's no chance she accidentally gave MC a flower she was named for - that was 100% intentional, likely to force speculation and a hasty match between them? second of all, our FMC didnt just catch MC's eye for her quick thinking but also the old master's, so good on her!!

the plot's still CREEPING along tho, but every scene and dialogue feels extremely well thought out and distinctive.

and our poor FMC finally looks happy in that estate for the first time when MC offers her family protection in return for her reporting on Xintang for him :)

this episode feels like a turning point imo, because both our MC and FMC look happy and relaxed for once now that the divorce drama is behind them. the maids dont see each other as threats or competition anymore considering xintang, the lady who made the estate so dangerous for them, is gone. our MC plays a part in FMC's peace by telling the head maid to let FMC be even if she might know the truth about the divorce and xintang's adultry.

i feel like the plot is DRAGGING along at this point, and the only thing keeping me hooked are the beautiful visuals of the drama + fmc's relationship with her friends

Still a gorgeous episode with lovely cinematography and acting, but it felt like nothing happened at all in this 😭
