There were some more comments like this in the period when the drama was airing.
It`s not only about the drama being compared with Kieta Hatsukoi, but we had so many people making comments accusing the characters and their relationship for being something that there isn`t, that we are really sensitive and "in defensive mode", hahaha, when we see people making comments like this without at least bothering to explain why they think the way they are.
I think you guys have had some users too, where you get the feeling that they have left some comments on the page purposely, only to annoy you guys.
This unfortunately happens with almost every BL drama/movie, but it really is a serious issue in Utsukushii kare page, because of how the story and the characters are in Utsukushii kare .
Utsukushii kare has a story that in my opinion can be appreciated more by adults or at least more mature people, or people who relate to how the characters are in one way and another. Even through the story might seem light and easy to understand because it starts with the characters meeting when they are in high school, the direction from there is totally different from Kieta Hatsukoi.
I hope people can appreciate both for what they offer, especially since both are japanese BLs that aired close to each other. The stories and the things addressed on both dramas are really different and i like both dramas, but for totally different reasons.

The way Kiyoi is saying the word is really similar with how he is saying it in the CD, but seeing him doing it too, feels more intimate and lovable, hahaha.

Yes. To give you a new perspective about how they are in the source material, i also had this tought that if they have been writed to have this many things that they have to overcome and become better at, then they should be doing it together.
In the other two novels, by being together they do influence each other to become better for the other sake, so especially when i read these scenes, it made me think, these two are made for each other so much that if they would have ended up with anyone else, they would have made a mess of the other person life.

Honestly, i didn`t mentioned this until know, but as someone who knows how Kiyoi is in the source material, i think there are some scenes where they could have made Kiyoi less impulsive, like at least they shouldn`t have made him push or him being irritated at Hira so many times.
I wouldn`t have a problem with this, if the drama had more episodes, in which Kiyoi is showed more, but because they didn`t show Kiyoi more, it gives the impression that Kiyoi is more troubled that he actually is. In the first novel, i had the impression that Kiyoi is more composed, and less impulsive. The drama has portrayed him close to how he is in the novel, but they have overdone this quite a bit.
Maybe i am the only one thinking like this, but this is what i am feeling.
Kiyoi is the voice of reason in Kiyoi and Hira relationship, the one that don`t let the relationship fall apart for the most part, he is much more careful and less impulsive than how he was portrayed in the drama. This is why, i really think they need to make at least one more season, at least for us to see more of how Kiyoi actually is and to see more growth from Hira.

And, she does have a point. People who watches this drama keep coming from time to time to write annoying things about Utsukushii kare in the page dedicated to it, while saying how Kieta Hatsukoi is better.

People who watches Utsukushii kare are not doing the same and doing things that would bother you guys. It`s only natural people are getting upset over it.

Ep 5 was my second favorite episode of the drama. And you`re right, Kiyoi would surely have more depth if the drama had one more ep. Even more ep would have made people understanding him more. I mean, i am contented how he was portrayed anyway, but they had more content about him that they could have adapted from the novel, but they have chosen to not add it, so when i see people expressing things like this, i totally understand.

I think both of you have understood the story well, but you are having one of Kiyoi and Hira moments when they are having their misunderstandings.
I was able to intuite this when i read the first comments you exchanged and i was right.

It`s okay, is impossible for the drama to do well in all websites. And it will most likely get better in time. In this website, the rating has fluctuated quite a bit, but has increased after the last ep. I think as more people will watch the drama, the rating will increase.
I read that the drama has a really high rating in douban, around 9, which is higher than most chinese dramas. I heard the drama is really popular among chinese fans.

The only reason you have given that Kieta Hatsukoi is better than this drama is that the story is superficial and that you don`t like Kiyoi and his "friends" , who if you watched the whole drama you would know they aren`t really his friends, because Kiyoi has never considered them his friends.
You posting things like this here without even bothering giving a good reason for thinking like this, can hurt the feelings of the people who likes this drama.
Just like you don`t like reading that Kieta Hatsukoi story is childish, we also don`t like reading things like the story in Utsukushii kare is superficial.
You are telling things like we should respect your opinion, but at least give more reasons why you liked Kieta Hatsukoi better and you didn`t like this drama. If you have done that, i wouldn`t have replied the way i did.
Everyone can enjoy what they like without saying things like- it`s better than another drama, looking down or saying negative things about another drama. People can appreciate something without compare it with other dramas.

I bet if i am going to Kieta Hatsukoi page and said the things you said about this drama, i will get the same reply as you got here. I know for sure this, since i saw people swarm like sharks on Kieta Hatsukoi page to reply on the negative posts someone make.
It`s all about refraining for saying things that might bother others, if you don`t have anything constructive to say or to offer another perspective. By people refraining from doing this, we can avoid situations like this.

Did you even watched the whole drama? Giving a reason like this to say that Kieta Hatsukoi is better. A t least in this drama, after the time skip that starts in ep 4, the tone of the story gets more serious and what happens has a more mature approach while in Kieta Hatsukoi it remains the same until the end.
If this drama has a story that handle things at a superficial level, then i dont know how to define the story told in Kieta Hatsukoi, maybe childish?

I was reading some reviews of this drama and there is a particular review that really touched me, and for which i writed a reply where i talked in which way i relate with what that person has writed in the review. After, i realised that maybe is a good idea to post a part of my comment here, because i feel the content can make people understand Hira better.
People should really take time to read some of the reviews other people made for this drama, because some of them are really toughtful. I also don`t usually like to read reviews, but this drama has a story that it seems it makes people want to add their personal touch to the reviews they write.

My comment that i will add below will address Hira low self-esteem. For people who didn`t notice, Hira has really low self- esteem, that originates from the fact that his stuttering ( caused by him being diagnosticated with Dysphemia as a child) has made other people look down on him, pity him, bullying him, and basically it has made Hira feel like an outsider all his life.

It`s so difficult for low self- esteem to get better, like who don`t wants to overcome it, but this takes time and constantly working on it, sometimes it would only improve so little, that you can get frustrated with yourself.
I had really low self -esteem from when i was a child, and i realised in time what are the main reasons why things has happened the way they were back then, but realising it and making big improvements on it are totally different things. My self- esteem is getting better and better as years pass by, but for me it has taken years to come to this point, and is a continuous effort.
I think this drama hits differently for people who has low self- esteem, or who can really relate with Hira and Kiyoi in one way or another.
The story this drama tell is so complex because the novels are amazing, just amazing, i really love Nagira Yuu for the way he has writed Hira and Kiyoi development in the novels. Hira self- esteem will get better in the other two novels, slowly, in time, just how it happens in reality. Hira and Kiyoi relationship will get stronger but they continue to make mistakes and learn continuously from them, this is the beauty of reading their journey.

People who dislike or hate the story told, because they wished for Hira to have more character development, in the sense that they wish he would become more confident, secure and i don`t know change more, most likely don`t know how it feels to have low self-esteem, and how hard is to overcome it. And i am so frustrated by reading these kind of comments.

As a last thing, i wish people are more polite in the way their express their toughts about how the characters are. I get it, not everyone can relate and sympathize with the characters, but i think is clear enough that the characters have really valid reasons why they behave the way they are, and they are not doing it in purpose, they are still learning about each other and how each should be around the other.
Hira and Kiyoi are teenagers when they meet, so really young, almost everyone has experienced that period of time when everything is confusing, when is hard to understand your feelings, hard to express your feelings. The reason why they are so few people who manage to get in a relationship with someone in the chaotic period that high school is, and keep the relationship going for a long time, is because is a confusing period when people aren`t able to understand and handle their feelings properly.

Like i said, i don't want to talk about this subject anymore, since i have the impression that the reason we just can't get to understand each other, has more to do with how different our life experiences and mindset is, and i don't want to spend more of my time on this.
I am really biased when it comes to Hira and Kiyoi because i have knowledge about the novels, i listened the CDs the novels are based on, and there is also the fact that i am an old BL watcher( i started watching BLs from more than ten years, so this does give me a different perspective), i am older than you most likely to, so i do see things different from you.
Some people just aren't able to see and understand the things in the same way even if they try to, and i think you and i are these kind of people.
I am open to talk about anything else, but i talked enough about Hira.
Like i said already, i don't consider Hira issues are that big. Hira was diagnosticated with Dysphemia from when he was a child and because of his stuttering in relation with how others treat him, he has developed low self-esteem.
But people having low self-esteem and developing an unusual attachement and intense love for someone, don't means they need psychological help if they don't feel they need it or as as long as they aren`t danger to other people.
I have a profession related to the medical field, and if there is one thing i learned when i studied psychotherapy is that people are really complex and a person reacting and behaving differently from others, as long as they don`t feel they need help, they can function normally in society and don`t bring harm to anyone or don`t show signs that they are dangerous, there is not need for them to get psychological help.
I saw you discussed recently with lukeblusky about something similar, and i totally agree with her. All that she wrote is how i would perceive Hira and Kiyoi relationship, and them as characters, even if i didn`t have any knowledge about how they are in the novels.

I hope it will get removed but it depends on a lot of things.
MDL do removes some improper reviews if after reporting they consider it has too of a offensive content, and something that is not appropiate to be read by other people.
The review i was talking about is just really sloopy made and is obviously the person just wanted to express hate towards the drama and didn`t even bothered to what the content might sound like if read.
The reviews on this page are still decent enough, but in some other BL dramas/movies pages, some reviews can be really hard to read without getting angry. This is why i avoid reading review usually. I remember i read a review made to the movie The cornered mouse dreams of cheese, and it has like i can`t believe what i read and questioning how someone could write things like this. Not anything should be allowed to be posted in public spaces like MDL.

Well, in my opinion Kiyoi definitely don`t dislike Hira being like this.
From what i observed, the author ( Nagira Yuu, because i read another novel of her) likes to write the bottoms in the novels she writes ( which is a bit of a cliche that is particular to her i think) as people who don`t especially likes to have sex. Many people are like this is real life, i am like this too. I think is most likely Kiyoi has refused to have sex with anyone else not only because he wanted to do it with Hira, but also because he don`t especially likes to do things like this.
Don`t misunderstand this, Kiyoi likes having sex with Hira, but the reason is that he likes to feel loved, he likes how lovable and caring Hira is when they are intimate, but he don`t especially likes the act of sex.
Like , Kiyoi also wants to have sex, it don`t feels like he does it only to make Hira happy, he also give permission for it, because he also likes it, but Kiyoi has different reasons for it than Hira. I think Kiyoi likes that Hira is passionate, because is one of the times when he really feels that is desired and loved by HIRA.
I think Hira likes to have sex too, he likes the sexual act, and i feel this is because he needs this for him to unload/ discharge his strong feelings for Kiyoi, like the sex is a way for him to show affection but also to exhaust the strong feelings of love.
From what i observed, Kiyoi gives the OK for SEX on special ocassions, like something very special happened, after some time pass after they have sex, he is touched by something, or he knows Hira really wants him.
About Hira being passionate in the sex scenes, it`s easy to notice by readers, and this is because when he is intimate he is behaving really different than how Hira usually is. Hira is really honest to the point he can come across as embarassing, but Kiyoi likes how honest he is when they are having sex.
I don`t know what to add, ask me if you want to know anything else.

There is also the fact that the spanish translation is not the best too, because i understand spanish really well, and when it read the translation i spoted some really obvious mistakes.

Kiyoi does give permission a lot of times to Hira when they have sex for the first time. Some of them are when he tells Hira to not stop when Hira asks if he should stop, and then when Kiyoi agree for them to go to bed, when he says to Hira to not make him wait anymore, then after, he tells him to start moving and there are some more.
When they have sex for the first time and later too, Hira is really passionate when it come to this, he comes across as he`s in his element, and he usually throws away all inhibitions. A lot of times he is so happy that he gets to have sex with Kiyoi that he can`t help himself, but as the" good boy "he is , he does always asks for permission, hahaha
