I think making Kiyoi the "bottom" and Hira a very gentle "top" makes the things more balanced. There's nothing…
Yes. I am also contented with how Nagira Yuu has chosen to write Hira and Kiyoi when they are intimate, and i have a really similar reason as you. It`s because it adds a lot of depth to their relationship. It show us how gentle and respectful Hira is with Kiyoi and is one of the few moments where Kiyoi can relax and show his vulnerable side, because he learns to trust that Hira will not hurt him when they get to it. So, for me their preference in bed makes totally sense.
When I watch a JapaneseBL I know I’m in for arollercoaster ride of emotions. They know how to dig deep into…
A perfect summary of why i love watching japanese BLs the most, and why when i notice a new BL is released from Japan i pay more attention to it. I have much more higher expectations on the quality of japanese BLs, because i know how good they are at exploring characters traits, flaws, themes, and how good their cinematography is.
I literally hate it in the fandom. Like a see everywhere that people judge the sexual role by the appearance etc.…
Yes. I also dislike this side of BL fandom so much, and i tend to stay away from interacting with people whose views are so narrow-minded to compare the sexual preference the characters has in bed with that of heterosexual couples, or to have toughts like if a character is beautiful, more feminine then it`s obviously he will be the bottom. This is rude, disrespecting and it should not be acceptable. But it will take a long time for things to change for the better, and maybe it will never go away completely.
Also it's the characters first time, they never dated before, it would be normal for their kissing and making…
Exactly. The context is the most important thing when it comes to how kiss and intimate scenes should be interpreted. And is the crucial factor for me in deciding if i like a sex scene or not. Is not important what we want to see, but to interpret what it happens in context, if it fits the characters personality, the situation and other things.
What does everyone think about the kiss scene in the class room? Ngl I was really excited at first watch, but…
NAH. It might be the fact that i have watched a lot of BLs over the years, and watched all kinds of intimacy scenes, but to me Kiyoi didn`t looked uncomfortable at all. Maybe try watching the kissing scene multiple times and pause on the moment they kiss, hug etc.. Kiyoi reciprocates Hira kisses all the times, but is subtle and is blocked by the finger. All the times Hira kisses, Kiyoi tilts the head forward to get closer to him but is subtle. There are moments when Kiyoi looks like he just wants to cling to Hira and he don`t want to let go. There is also this scene at 21.05 when he puts his hand on Hira face and he leans to kiss him, but he only manages to kiss him in the check, because Hira is tilting his face.
I really like the kissing scene, because in my opinion, it tells a lot of things like: i can see the passion and longing both of them have, them feeling relieved in that they don`t have to repress their feelings anymore, but i can also see their awkwardness in doing something like kissing, hugs and more, when they are done for the first time. For me is the awkwardness or doing something you are not used to do. Like similar with how people usually are when they have sex for the same time. It don`t matter how much you love your partner, is not easily to relax and just give in, because of the fear of unknown and the fact that people are afraid to get hurt. Sorry for giving this exemple, but i don`t know how to explain this better.
I could personally never relate to this show, you know as someone who has watched a lot of shows this one really…
Woah. Your comment is amazing, thank you for sharing your honest toughts. I related a lot to what you wrote in this comment and like you, i was able to relate to both Hira and Kiyoi for different reasons. Thank you again.
The fact that Hira always had the advantage over Kiyoi and didn't know it...yet when he realized it...he understood…
Yes. For me, it was easy to spot in the drama the moment Hira has recognized just how much advantage he has over Kiyoi. Then after realising it, he shows that mischievous smile and he just go for it.
I want to share my toughts about the final episode as someone who has knowledge of the source material, and know how the things that happens in the final episode are presented in the novel/CD.
I will start by saying that i am glad to see a lot of people changing their mind about what the story is about, and how the characters were meant to be from the beginning. I think giving this drama a rewatch from the beginning can make people appreciate even more the story and the message that this drama tries to convey. All the time and efforts me and a lot of people here, which i am really grateful to, i am sure i would miss the time i spend here discussing with them, has pay off in the end.
The last ep didn`t disappointed me at all. They were little changes here and there compared to the CD, they has also switched some words told between the fight they have before Kiyoi leaves and the confession scene. But i was impressed by this decision, since it has made the words to flow more smoothly.
I knew from the start that they have to change things a little, since keeping all the dialogue in the scenes from the CD will sound unnatural and weird. But despite everything they kept the most important lines from the CD, diregarding everything, and i was so surprised.
I was really surprised that they decided to keep things as close to the source material as they could. I mean this is all i wanted, but this drama has to be the most faithful japanese BL adaptation of the source material, i was shocked they have chosen to keep so much. And the acting has taken care of everything else, so it worked.
I didn`t even care about the fact that the kisses are not that impressive, since it fits the feelings they both should have in that scene. The scene where they are kissing showed Hira being desperate and longing for Kiyoi for such a long time, that he just go for it, not matter how he does it, and how it looks like when it seen by other people, is all about being impulsive about it.
I meant that they don`t have the material for this season, since this is how the novel that this season is adapted ends, but they have the material to make more seasons, since there are still two more novels that they can adapt. Basically, the complete story of Hira and Kiyoi is told in three separate novels, but this drama only adapted the first novel.
NAH. It surely don`t have more than 6 eps, they would have announce it by now. They also don`t have the material for it, since this is how the CD adapted from the first novel ends.
It`s because it adds a lot of depth to their relationship.
It show us how gentle and respectful Hira is with Kiyoi and is one of the few moments where Kiyoi can relax and show his vulnerable side, because he learns to trust that Hira will not hurt him when they get to it.
