This drama has become my favorite japanese BL too , is even ahead of some really good japanese BL movies i watched. I just find the cinematography, acting and the story to be really well balanced. Now, i still have to watch the last episode, but i don`t think i will change my mind. They have to mess things up really badly for me to change my mind.

The novel is currently being translated in english ( is not an official translation), one translation can be found in the discussion thread for the novel i made in the Recent discussions section ( but it don`t have many chapters translated and the release of the chapters is not that good), and there is another translator working on the novel too, who plans to make the translation public soon.
There is also available a CD/audio drama in japanese (adapted from the first novel, which this drama is adapted too) to listen to, and an spanish transcript of the CD that you can read if you understand spanish, which people can decide to check both or just read the transcript.

It was not like that with this drama. Until now the countdown has counted until the moment the drama started aired and then it stoped. Or at least this is how i remember it was. I might be wrong tough.

From what i understood, Kiyoi does reflect and thinks about how his actions in high school was perceived by Hira and how it might be some of the reasons why Hira stops his plans to get close to him.
But from the way Nagira Yuu writed him, i have the impression that Kiyoi is not the type to apologize for almost anything, but he instead tries to be careful how he acts towards Hira and be nice to be him. But like Nana has said, this is not an issue, as Hira hasn`t ever tought that Kiyoi has done something wrong to him or that he should apologize to him. Hira feelings for Kiyoi is the reason why Kiyoi has a hard time getting close to him.
From listening to the second CD, adapted from the second novel, when they are shown dating, they don`t talk about what happened between them in the past, and the impression i got is that they both know where both of them has messed up and were wrong, so they basically acknowledge this and try to don`t make the same mistakes.
Both of them will continue to make mistakes and misunderstand each other even in the future, the novels shows both of them continuously learning how to make their relationship work, and this is the best biggest reason why the novels are amazing in my opinion.

Apologize about what?
The novel has a story where both of them are at fault for whatever that happens between them, so the author don`t makes Kiyoi apologize without a good reason.
Maybe people are having a hard time seeing that Hira love for Kiyoi is mixed with obsession ( his idolizing, worship of Kiyoi is bigger than it may look in the surface) too, and it prevents him from seeing Kiyoi for the real person he is ( Hira has unrealistic expectation on what Kiyoi is as a person), because the drama is short, but in the novel this is really obvious.
Because of this, Hira does some things to Kiyoi that hurt him a lot too, and it also stops a lot of Kiyoi plans to get close to Hira. Like, the fact that Hira has just cut contact with him after graduation has also hurt Kiyoi a lot and it explains his behaviour after their reunion, and i think in the next episode will be able to see more the extent of Hira feelings for Kiyoi and how this will affect Kiyoi.
Kiyoi is not the kind of guy to apologize if he feels he didn`t hurt Hira in purpose, so he don`t apologize for almost anything.
This is what it looked to me from listening to the CDs, i don`t know how is in the novel, but i don`t think is different.

You expressed yourself very well, this is why there aren`t many people commenting on your post and have chosen to respect your opinion.
But, while i understand what you mean, the part where you say people feel the need to downplay the toxicity of the relationship and try to justify their actions, is something i don`t agree with. Like, yes some people might do this, but it rarely happens in this page. This is not what we are trying to do.
I agree with some things you said, Hira and Kiyoi has issues to work on, but there is nothing that they can`t solve in time with communication and lot of reflection from their part. Defining their relationship as toxic is not accurate though, i can`t compromise on this.
I think you are lucky and i am envious of you that you have discovered this page now, but for a long time, even from when the first episodes were released, there are a lot of people who come to this page with the single purpose to throw hate at the drama and make other people feel bad for liking this drama, basically throwing words like toxic, harmful, racist words towards people in Japan for making and releasing this drama, bad influence in children without even understanding the whole extent of what these words entail etc. This website is still one of the best to be, but in other websites people like to misinform other people who haven`t watched the drama, that it include rape, sexual assault between the characters or that the drama is similar with some movies like Dangerous drugs of sex etc, so Rach loves Xieer hasn`t exaggerated at all in what she has said to you.
People who are actively having discussions here for a long time, which we are able to recognize each other at this point, know very well what kind of characters Hira and Kiyoi are, we recognize their unhealthy habits, we aren`t ignoring them, we just come to at point where we like to share our toughts over what happens in the drama and what happens in the novels.
We aren`t trying to expand on the circumstances that brought them to act this way, for us to justify their behaviour, but only to make people understand the characters better, especially when we see people are putting all the blame of what it happens in Hira and Kiyoi relationship in only one character, which the most frequently is Kiyoi, and ignoring any flaws and issues Hira might have, which is not fair at all.
Some people who post comments here don`t bother to analyse the characters at all, which i am not saying is a bad thing, people watch dramas for dfferent reasons, my intention is not to judge anyone, but the issue is when prople don`t even try to understand the characters, and are using absurd words to hate on this drama.
A lot of people have knowledge about what we will happen in the next episode, where the characters will most likely have some well needed talk, and come to understand each other better. I and a lot of people have a lot of information about the content of the novels, and we have shared this, so a lot of people who visit their page regularly have a different perspective of the characters and their relationship, and we like to talk about the characters positive traits while in the process also informing other people about the story and the characters. This don`t mean that we aren`t recognizing that the characters have issues, unhealthy habits they have to work on, but we already discussed them before. I guess you are just a bit late to the "party".
I always mention in my comments when i feel is needed that both Hira and Kiyoi are really flawed, and they have a lot more issues that it looks in the surface, in which they have to work on ( i mention this, at least when i feel people don`t get the extent in which the characters are flawed and just how unhealthy some of their habits are), but i also like to share the fact that while the characters relationship starts like this, in the novel the characters mature a lot, and manage to influence themselves to become better persons, both in their relationship and their professional life. I have listened until the second CD and their relationship become so much better, is hard to believe they started this way.
The three novels series are amazing, the psychological elements are heavy enough, i am sure you will like them. Unfortunately, there isn`t any official translation announced, but they are two translators working of translating the novels in english. It`s really beautifully edited and the music sounds so good and it fits the video. I wish it was longer.
Seriously, the cinematography is amazing.
Japanese cinematography has something special that only this country has, but among all japanese BL dramas released until now i think this drama has the most stunning cinematography.
I mean i feel the need to rewatch the drama only to rewatch the scenes i consider the most impressive, and there are so many that i prefer to watch all the eps than just part of of them.
