It was a bit of a misunderstanding, but you did said to me in the previous comment that it should have been recommended ( at the end of the comment)this is why i wrote the previous comment that way. Oh. So that is what you wanted to do. I did mentioned that they are a few japanese dramas made and released before 2020, but i just mentioned the Pornographer drama series. The reason of why i don't usually recommend OL is that is a kind of a " genre" on his own ( the humour is really unique in this drama) and the content appeals only to a certain category of people. There is also the thing that OL is really different from the other dramas that Japan released after, and people might not like it and not try other japanese bl dramas. I really like bl dramas and movies made by Japan, they are actually the first dramas i mention to people when they ask for recommendations about bl dramas. I really want japanese bl dramas and movies to get more popular among international fans, since they are really well made, and recommending OL as one of the best made dramas that Japan released is not the way in my opinion ( i am only speaking for myself) , especially after people have checked this drama. People will check on their own what other bl dramas and movies Japan has released ( this is what i did), and if they like the story they will also check OL in the end.

I don't want to be rude, but even if it paved the the way, it will not mean i will recommend it, since i believe the chance someone will like it is low, and in my opinion the dramas released after are much better. It may have been popular in asian countries, but is not that well kown and popular between international fans. What someone recommend is also a personal choice, is up to me what i recommend, i already made the effort to recommend the dramas i liked the most, it don't have to mention all japanese bl dramas released. In regards to this, someone already shared a list with the person i was responded to, and i also mentioned for her to check it, since is very good, as it has all japanese bl dramas and movies released until know.

Yes. But i didn't like the drama, so i didn't mention it. Is a good drama, and i knew the actors are good since i already saw them in other dramas but i still didn't like the drama. I believe the content will not appeal to everyone. For exemple, the issue i have with it was the humour, it was too much and not the kind i like. But i am sure a lot of people like it exactly for this reason.

Yes, he is so so relatable, when i see him i am remembering my school years. When i see him, is also like i am seeing myself in the days when i am down and don't have energy and don't look forward for anything exciting to take place, because this is the impression he gives, and he is so relatable.
The actor who plays Hira is really good.

I got the feeling from the trailer that what Hira is feeling towards Kiyoi is not something as simple as just like/love, but it's more like he thinks of him as this unreachable person who he admires and maybe even worships. Maybe is not apparent for a lot of people, because is just the first ep and maybe they didn't watched the trailer. I may be someone more sensible to reading the situation and in the expressions and toughts of the characters, since i have watched a lot of bl dramas and movies, but i noticed this when i watched the trailer. And is obvious that Hira has really low confidence in being loved by Kiyoi, and the reason is even more messed up and not as simple as it seems in the surface and this is one thing that comes really close to home, and my heart goes to him.So in my opinion, what you wrote can be spoted by some people who likes to actually analyze and understand the characters.

This drama is really promising based on the things i read about the novel. And Japanese dramas don`t drag plotlines, trust me on this, because i watched a lot of japanese dramas over the years. I am quite sure they can adapt as much content from the novel as they can. The editing skills in japanese dramas are really good, they know what they are doing. I have really high hopes when i see a japanese bl drama or movie released, and this is based on the fact that i know from experience how good they are at making them.
And the actors casted are really good actors, both handsome and have insane chemistry, i was in love with the drama only by watching the trailer. Even among japanese bl dramas and movies, this is rarely encountered . If the writing is good in the future eps and the production team manages to show the story consistently and in a coherent way, i think this drama will become really popular in a short time.

Yes, i think the biggest issue with Taiwan bl dramas it that beside the fact that they sometime cast some really bad actors, is that they do not explore the story more deeply aka brush off/treat superficially on things that should be adressed or put on repeat cute and fluffy moments who don`t do anything but drag the plot.

I agree about Japan and Korea, because they consistently puts out good bl dramas and movies, but i disagree with Taiwan. I stoped searching for Taiwan bl dramas starting from about half year ago, because i was disappointed by the dramas they released lately, i especially disliked Be loved in the house. The last drama i liked from Taiwan was just the first season of We best love, and i have mixed toughts about History 4 close to you ( there were some things i liked, but overall is a mediocre drama).

I was talking with someone recently, and i mentioned the fact that i am glad finally Japan release bl dramas that has stories like this., because lately it has only been the fluffly and cute or mature, serious kind released.
Japan is really good at writing and showing those kind of stories, this is what distinguished this country bl movies and dramas from other countries over the years.
And i similarly mentioned Cornered mouse dreams of Cheese or Sei No Gekiyaku as being amazing pieces of art, that are amazing the way they are.
I think the majority of the comments made here come from the people who aren`t used in watching japanese bl movies and dramas made in the past. As someone who has watched japanese movies and dramas over the years, being BL or BG ones, Japan rarely disappoints when it comes to portraying bullying, non-consent stuff and exploring dark or gray themes. The reason is that they dare to explore what they want to present in a more deeply way, they go where other countries don`t dare to go, and don`t care how the content is perceived. As long as they want to tell something they find is necessary, they do it , don`t matter how controversial is, and this is what it makes the dramas and movies coming from Japan to have this melancholic and realistic touch.

But you are so right on this and the movies you mentioned has to be the more cringe-worthy movies ever, even now i cringe just remember them. If people manage to succesfully watch those movies, they would be able to watch any bl drama/movie out there and grow resistence to it as you said, hahaha. Now, cringe worthy scenes are just mostly oh, okay or they come across as just cute.

The japanese bl dramas released in recent years are:
- Given (2021)
- Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai VS Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko (2021)
- Life: Senjou no Bokura (2020)
- Ponographer and it`s sequel Moon indigo, who continues with the movies Pornpgrapher- Spring life, Pornographer playback and Pornographer: Continued Spring Life . This is the order in which it should be watched.
Actually, until 2019, Japan only produced bl movies regularly, and they produced bl dramas very rarely, the trend with making bl ( actually short webdramas) dramas started in 2020. So if you want to watch bl productions from Japan before 2020, they are mostly only movies,with some little exceptions.
The best bl prductions from Japan are also movies, not dramas, but is surprising that they managed to make more than decent bl dramas from the start. If you want to venture in watching bl japanese movies, tell me and i will mention some good ones for you.

Beside Japan, South Korea is the only country that i decided to watch bl dramas/movies and they released some good ones this year, so you want me to recommend some good ones from there, tell me. The user named omni has mentioned to you all korean bl dramas released recently already.

For me, those comments helped me a lot to understand what the story is about. I also engaged in some discussions there.

The novel is at the beginning stage of being translated, it only has the first chapter translated. It will take a while until it will be completely translated.

Thank you for sharing the info about what happens in the novel. Like other people has said, it really helps understanding more the characters when we know more about the characters and what direction the story take, and avoid misunderstanding their relationship and the story too much.
I usually read all the mangas the japanese bl dramas and movies are based of, so when i saw it`s based on a novel i was really sad. I know that japanese novels aren`t as easy available as mangas, so getting to read their english translation is like hoping for an impossible thing. They are some japanese bl novels that has an english translation in Novelupdates, but they are only a few and the jp novel that gets picked up to be translated depends on luck. I was reading the comments only to see if someone will talk about what happens in the novels, so i am really grateful for you doing this for us.

I would be worried if this kind if story comes from Taiwan or Thailand, since they usually disappoint, even through they have some exceptions too, but not Japan. Unfortunately, this drama is based on a novel, no a manga. If it was a manga i was going to check it too, since they are easily available, but novels aren't available easily even in japanese, so highly unlikely will ever be translated. From what i observed, in general, not only for bl novels, even really popular japanese novels that have popular drama adaptation can't be found online.The only hope is for the novel to be picked by a translator and added in Novelupdates, since they are some japanese bl novels translated there, but this only depends on luck.If you scroll down, there is a person who has shared what happens in the novel if you want to know.EDIT:The novel seems is currently being translated, and i currently writed to some people to send me the link to read it.
