It was mostly from the support that Utsukushii Kare got from Japan and other asian countries that it has got a sequel. I am not saying that the international audience didn`t have any involvement. In the case of Pornographer, from what i know, it was a hit among japanese BL fans more than general japanese audience, who supported the drama, and this is why it got many parts. Cherry magic and Utsukushii Kare also attracted the attention of the general audience in Japan, so it reached a more wider audience.
