I'm on ep 1 and I already don't like him. I don't know what it is about him
I just started too and I think it’s because he’s a little sassy and pretentious lol. I’m guessing he’s rich based on something Rocky said in ep 1, and I definitely see that sheltered, entitled air about him (at least, based on the first two eps that are the only ones I’ve seen as of writing this haha). Take, for example, his reaction to the representative choice for his school faculty.
Just started this and although I find Judah to be a little sassy and pretentious at times, this attitude also makes me LOL. Reading the comments, I think it’s gonna be a love-hate relationship I have with him. I do like, though, that he’s a little more effeminate than what we usually get in BL leads. Yay for diversity.
Right. I wonder if it’s because the serious scenes are almost always juxtaposed with scenes that have terrible,…
Your last paragraph made me LMAO. Yeah it was more hectic than anything haha. Also, I don’t associate Zumba specifically with the Phillipines so if that their goal, I wish they would have chosen something a little more cultural, or at least a prettier location. So maybe your number 3 option is closest lol
That’s interesting about the sponsorship! Man the possibilities they could have had to show off Filipino culture and views.
I’m kinda surprised people aren’t talking more about that thumb kiss lol. I don’t really care one way or the other, but boy was it a hot topic in the comments when people thought the same happened in 2gether lol (no shade btw just an observation)

I was thinking too that it was some type of sponsorship, but I didn’t see any brand so I wasn’t sure lol. I do wish the writers or whoever were better able to integrate these product placements/sponsors more smoothly into the show. Some are so awkward and out of place haha

Lol well I probably should have put quotes around it because as I mentioned above, it’s not my type of humor. The last scene with the maid and girls, for example, was just, “Ughhh really, are we 12 year old boys?” And yes that Zumba scene—wtf was that!? So random and added absolutely nothing to the story. Idk I got tired of giving this one a chance and finally dropped. Some parts are decent; others are (in my opinion) too stupid.
The trailer looks amazing, super high quality. The filming location is beautiful! I also love the apparent nod to Filipino mythology. I’m not familiar with the story, but it sounds like this may be a modern re-telling of it?

Fair point! Yeah, Aki does a good job (I think he’s even improved since the first few episodes, which is always nice to see). That scene with Ace and Kim in the restaurant was really well done, I thought. Do you feel, though, that sometimes the acting of both leads feels a little “forced natural” so that it seems awkward? It’s like they’re trying too hard to be organic that it backfires. I don’t know, it could just be me lol
Aside from that chicks whole plot (it didn’t follow logic at all!) I thought it was a solid episode.P.s. Let…
Yeah, it seems to be getting mixed reviews in the comments here. I’ll have to see how the girlfriend story line plays out. Cliches aside, I’m just happy I can trust GMM to put out a solid drama these days; other companies seem to be a hit or miss. There’s always at least one thing off lol
Not them pulling a HIStory: Obsessed in episode 4 lmao
But seriously though, I’m really impressed with how this is developing, as crazy as some parts seem. Who knew we’d get this drama and story development from boring old episode 1!? I should’ve known better, this being GMM and all.
Edit: Ok I read the comments and feel like I’m in the minority haha but I feel like in terms of the whole package—story/plot, writing, pace, acting, music, cinematography, little to no filler—GMM, yet again, leads the game (at least in Thai BL) with this latest addition.
And yet this is rated 7.4 while the Oxygen has an 8.6. I do not understand. I suspect that younger viewers don't…
Wow I didn’t think I’d find another person who wasn’t as hyped about Gameboys as everyone else lmao. Same here. I thought it was okay but I ended up dropping it because I just stopped caring lol. The acting, writing, and plot was good, so I don’t know what it is. Honestly I think half of it was Pearl. I know she has many fans on here but I found her to be loud and obnoxious. I couldn’t stand her and was surprised to see so many who loved her *hides in corner so the Pearl fans do t attack* lol
I also agree with you other comment below about the toxicity of the Gameboys fandom. I couldn’t believe some of the hateful remarks I saw on that page towards people who voiced a less than favorable comment on the show. If only people took that energy and out it towards something meaningful and positive.
The coming out scene in the latest episode was weird, out of place and not really powerful.
Right. I wonder if it’s because the serious scenes are almost always juxtaposed with scenes that have terrible, beyond cringey humor. I wish this had more of the serious tone and less of the “humorous” one.
