Conflicted here: if I'd gone off the reviews alone, I wouldn't have watched this, and now that I have, it was…
yea i'm actually pretty surprised, this is more intimate than a lot of bl shows and it's clear they're together and in love. the way they look at each other is insane. it's actually pretty interesting considering i don't find BL to be an amazing feat in media but this show had a lot of energy and they have crazy chemistry. you see the minute they fall in love.
I loved this drama. I did a video review on my channel i anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLJCBqMlmk8
hopefully you got this message, i will finish the video but you're so cute and i agree. you seemed to have fun in talking about it and i think that's why this show is so great
this drama is absolutely bonkers and i'm really sad that it's at an 8 because i feel like instead of leaning into the absurdity people felt awful about it. i'm gonna rewatch it soon
I was hesitant to begin this after reading the negative comments because I love the original and was scared it…
i might watch the original the big draw of kdramas is the short format. america has diff standards of progressivism, but this show is clearly a response to the trump era (it's a shame the US one got canceled)--what aspects did you like about the US one? i'm having a lot of fun with this one and it def antagonizes the US-Kor relations and several other issues. also ji jin hee is so beautiful wtf
it really does. i am confused, what do people see that we don't. it's so politically interesting and based in such historical fact and current events i love it
tbh most of the romances are vapid. and acting is a big problem. they mostly start strong and do get boring. you're…
nah, i'm not interested. a director i love directed one of them but i'm not an IU fan. you should check out the film 'the truth beneath' if you haven't, that's the director i'm referring too.
you'll find what you like. i saw your comment above re: romcoms. it's true the demo is mostly women, but a lot of men end up liking them as well because if a story is good, it doesn't matter! also like no gender should be stuck to one because there's trash-ass writing everywhere. we find stuff just as cloying as others. it's a personality thing and i guess how much you know about media and what you can handle.
also saw you watched stranger--one of my favorite shows EVER. just keep looking. different cultures mean different things and sometimes culture is a big big negative in terms of story (maturity for romcom tv shows.) korean movies are also very very VERY different to tv because of the lack of restrictions. a blessssssing.
keep searching and don't get stuck in one genre if you're going to explore the asian drama world. the good thing about them as opposed to US tv is THEY ARE SHORT. the best blessing lol
some favs of mine are following i stick to things being lead or written by women since i...much prefer it (look em up on mdl): - king of hs (a RIDICULOUS romcom. it's fun as hell with a totally stupid premise but it's so cute and nice and found family), ex gf club and heart to heart...these are all dramas that came out on tvn in a specific period and they've all got really quirky storylines but they're fun and cute. when you wanna watch something soothing and lovely but not so saccharine you wanna die - trap (a fav, crazy writing lmao a lot of people won't like it), signal, sky castle, children of nobody, save me 1+2 (prefer 2), confession, mother (same writers as confession), nokdu flower, rebel thief (this is a romance sorta but mostly about the tale of korean robin hood, i would put it into the category below as well), solomon's perjury, white christmas, LIVE (another ensemble but not as ridiculous as otherse) - im in2 activism so the ensemble shows that are anti corruption are some of my fav. they're farcical but fun: SPECIAL LABOR INSPECTOR JO, fiery priest, chief kim,
there's sooooo much out there. i almost wish i was new and had all the knowledge of stuff i prefer now and how my personal politics and my career affect what i see. romcoms are probs not for you tho, like i said, there's a few i stilllll love. anyways, good luck!
I'm new to K-drama so excuse me if I come off as someone hating on K-drama but is it me or are most K-dramas just…
tbh most of the romances are vapid. and acting is a big problem. they mostly start strong and do get boring. you're not saying anything wrong. there's tons of media elsewhere that has the same issue. it's the nature of writing. and particularly romcoms, esp in a way more sexually conservative society, are not compelling. i used to be a huge romcom fan and then i couldn't. i also don't think idols can act so. but there are some gems in terms of thrillers and political things. and there are even some ensemble comedies or slice of life that are just gorgeous. and you never know, a romance may surprise you! what i do is search all through MDL to find something that i'm in the mood for. there's so much boring BS but then there's like the diamonds in the rough! and we all have diff tastes
i dislike the last drama IU was in but you may well like it since it is a fan fav. not really romantic. it's called 'my mister' maybe check it out!
Can't believe that a normal person could survive is such toxic environment like what president Park trying to…
i love how fantastical it is tbh. he's the sane in the insanity, but everyone sees it as the other way around. the premise of the show is obviously absurd in both an american and foreign/korean context and that's part of what makes it great. love it
i enjoy it but at the same time the frustration i feel hinders me from being able to think completely. it's well done and yet so annoying. so either they're going to ruin it massively or tighten the story up and finish it off incredibly cleanly. which i believe they can do. it's ep 8 so we need to move along and get answers to solve literally anything. it's not super fun watching everyone be confused and doubt each other with such a huge sad issue on their hands.
that being said, enjoying it! i hope by next week there will be more exposition. it cannot stay this vague until the end. a "twist" isn't always a good thing and i think the show can pull this off and give us answers. after all literally every case is a "don't think too hard" type of deal
i'm wondering if i should give it another go because the first time i was finding it nearly incomprehensible,…
totally agree. i'm not sure where you're watching but i had to cave and get a viki subscription and i realized the subs i had were TERRIBLE. it makes so much more sense now. 3/4 were greaet
this woman was atrocious to watch. they're all so hot though but she was terrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible (and so were the men, but it was about her and i cannot stand characters that are so selfish and STUPID in their selfishness but pretending to be smart for their own gain)
i think you're completely missing the point of the show
i truly think so...i am watching it now and i am pretty left and radical with my politics. i saw your comment about a month ago when i was deciding to watch but i got worried and upset so i refused. then i forgot about the comment and decided to pick it back up, since i love these type of shows. i absolutely think korea has a problem with xenophobia and antiblackness and positing south east asians as dirty or south asians as weird and islam is "strange" but i think all these nationalities shown and these awful stupid people and these absurd situations are particularly what they want to highlight, given that everywhere but also south korea is dealing with refugees it's such an issue. i, personally, feel like jung woo sung would definitely think this show is a-ok haha

i couldnt even finish ep 2 i was /that/ confused. i wonder how people feel about 3-4 cos i really want another thriller....
her husband is also dumb as hell
and that ending was trash
sry for the wall of text
