coco chanel is not the person to quote. and the best thing we can do is stop supporting it. it's the only viable action. and we all have to be ready for this challenge. and the structure must change. it's capitalism through and through (oversimplifying via words, but let's just say that encapsulates the misogyny racism that flounders.) it's asking people to be aware and more open, asking fans to combat these ideas, and asking these people to do so as well. and mostly it's messing up a structure.
i never really knew sulli and i wasn't super interested, maybe found her young and annoying, but she should have had the time and space to do so. to live beyond 25 and feel out her interests. growing up in this environment, being groomed by older men, being hurt constantly, and having people fail her...
i was (am) a huge jonghyun fan; he's one of my favorite musicians. i have one of his album arts tattooed on me. i wish he was here. i wish he wasn't failed. i wish a lot of people were alive.
it's a conversation that keeps happening everywhere, but particularly within this realm of korean celebrity (and people due to high suicide rates and all of these matter. the mere idea of celebrity is useless) but, on top of that, is the MAJOR repercussions of using people for capital. it exploits them and continues this power imbalanced steeped in patriarchy and emotional austerity. that labor will pay off to happiness.
anyway its too much to type, but also remember her life in totality was more than just the companies. it's also getting people help when they need it and listening. this is preventable and yet it keeps happening, why?
Honestly.. to think of something so weird and beside the sensitive matter being discussed...
that was because they wanted to use their rising sun flag--by "they" it's a (substantial) sect of people that see it as patriotic. rising sun flags represent imperialism, ethnic cleansing, rape, murder. it's akin to the confederate flags. if we could remove power, we would. but people still believe in this BS. the way we preserve history and stop this stuff is by teaching people empathy, giving them knowledge, and not erasing it from the books. it also means respecting what these things mean to people.
Please keep in mind that kisskh has users from all around the world. Out of the ~195 countries in the world,…
it's fine, you didn't know and it's understandable. really it was the title that kinda shocked me since people troll with these kind of usernames. it's not an indictment on you.

tbh it's pretty jarring and insensitive so as an admin it would be nice if the title wasn't that. not everyone is american, but there are a lot of black people who know this very well. me included, and it was offputting to see. i kinda thought the post would be a joke. it would just be nice if there was a maybe a change in title, i understand that's op's username.
Did we NEED remakes of these? A) GMMTV would be better focusing on their shows that are actually interesting like…
ty 4 the info. i honestly just look peripherally at these things and i have a lot (A LOOOOOOOOT) of problems w/ BL and asian dramas. i kinda wish there were more radical women tryna get stuff out there. but anyways, even after hearing for like one second that krist has this issue i was like wow nah. never rewatched parts of sotus or anything.
it's all frickin' cringe tbh. they're actors and they or their managers decided to do something that can skyrocket someone into popularity in these countries (which is a problem in itself--the fetishizing, getting $ off of young girls/women, the problems that itself perpetuates) and you can't take the responsibility? you're uncomfortable but you MAKE MONEY off of the literal nature of the show you were on? it may be full of pressure and everything but it is benefitting you and if you couldn't handle it--when it was done ON PURPOSE--then you shouldn't have done it.
it's less about the anger towards the pressure that fandoms can put on people, that's real i am positive, but the responsibility lies within themselves and their management for knowing this and profiting off of it. and in turn you can either be honest about the pressure but not insulting or you can do it while letting people know that it may not be you and this is your job and they are doing 'xyz' as their job.
OR you can just give into it and chill. we need to ask more from fandoms but lbr the people marketing this know what they're doing. so yea it's an insult to everyone frankly and it's so funny to me that making money off of this "IDEA" is totally fine but never ever ever ever associate the real "IDEA" with me. give me a break.
also if we have a problem with this (and i do in general) then we need to talk about what it means to commodify this and capitalism etc and i know that's Too Deep but i'm js.
jung woo basically kills everyone. He kills the pervert first, then the creepy lady, and finally the guy with…
totally! i mean it's clear he has ptsd. but that's the tricky part of it. imo jong woo isn't capable of doing what the cult did (for various reasons) and his episode would then coincide with trauma and that effectively creates a gap between him and the real murderers. he killed out of safety (which one could argue, but i think he did and idc that they died lol) while the others have this psychological problem that was fostered throughout the years. so i'm like as a viewer i understand that for him it was constant trauma and pressure and his mind cannot function anymore..which means you can get help. the others were beyond help. so at the end why the hell does nobody still help him?
I've literally seen it all.. the good guys wining, the bad guys wining, making us think it's the good guys but…
the diff between jong woo and them is that he literally went crazy. moon jo killed his parents and the rest of them were either socio or psychopaths so it's inherent to them and fostered through a cycle of trauma. his was "made" but he is different because of his ability to feel so strongly which is also why this switch is dubious too
the 19+ rating is apt. even tho it's blurred if they come out with the DVD...phew. but it was pretttyyyyyy gory
did moon jo plant in his mind he did all these things? because he has this fight....and people are DYING but he's…
i get what ur saying but i'm wondering about the mechanics of that dissociation. i knew he was going to kill...he had to or he would be killed. but considering the discrepancies how far did he go and also what was the measure in which moon jo convinced him. because he's not been stable the whole time and has been gaslit and driven insane there's a lot of forgiveness we can give to the writing but it still doesn't mesh with jong woo the whole series to the end with having the bracelet put on. it's like it was a switch.
in the timeline: they kill chang ho first then he sees ji eun then he gets the bracelet put on from then til the end what happened? where is moon jo? was ji eun hallucinating cos she was also in sm pain? it just doesnt add up. and because of that i'm like there's all these questions we have about the reality.
also jong woo's core personality is directly against everyone at the gosiwon. he doesn't believe people are /this/ bad and pure rage, even though it's dangerous, does not a psychopath make. like at what point did he snap and then how did he do all that stuff in turn? i shouldn't dissect it this much because your answer is the most plausible but i feel like there's so much room to ponder philosophically

thanks for the reply! was it as open to interpretation as this was? (i think i answer my own question here....)
i guess my complaint would be about the 'similar' part of them is that jongwoo doesn't become jongwoo anymore, he becomes moon jo...through intense gaslighting and the show is so quick with it, there's almost no time to breathe. i know the teeth bracelet symbolizes something. so i'm sad that jong woo's essence is basically gone, stamped out, and that's it..

...but how does this alter ego work....anyways he went crazy our poor jong woo lmao

edgar wright--you're right! i didnt even think of that! there's also a humor in horror (that i think is necessary) and wright does that well too
