he's a goner... he lost it... he killed all those psychos and even killed the nice voice in his head that told…
the ep is titled 'gaslighting' which is basically leading someone to believe something that is true, factual, but not affirming it. so "i saw you kill this person" but the person says "no that was you" and...i think that's pretty indicative of what happened at the end and the series.
so i think that the ending can be interpreted many ways. overall i liked the drama and didn't mind the plot points…
did moon jo plant in his mind he did all these things? because he has this fight....and people are DYING but he's doing it or...? how did he get to influence jong woo to murder all those people (which tbh makes me imagine that a) the bracelet makes u insane and b) he /was/ gaslighted into it...which he was but was it even him???) i think that.......we wont know? i guess. but im glad all those bitches got got. i don't think jong woo is a character that went crazy tbh i think everyone around him was and he was trying to survive so the overarching point between him and moon jo seems bizarre
these dramatic cinema series thouggh really push the mental limits. i loved trap for this reason tbh so i don't mind what happened. i just think it's unclear and so far that's 2 for 2 of insanity but no clarity (which is FINE bc it really does make for cinematic tv)
so i think that the ending can be interpreted many ways. overall i liked the drama and didn't mind the plot points but now i'm kind of at sea with what it all means...
btw--show obviously really admires 'us' and 'midsommar' and if u have seen those movies...i think it might be a bit clearer
gets better and better. i think it's a fun, well-paced horror. it would probably be more palatable as a movie since it has that pacing in its episodic form (the highs, the dip in storytelling, the lows, the highs again) but i always view horror through a different lens. and most of all horror should be fun in a sick way
i dont think jongwoo will be a killer. partly because it's in his nature and we see the contrast between him and moon jo. but he is being driven CRAZY and by now he's just terrified. like he's over jae-ho, now he's like all of us are about to get GOT.
can't wait for the finale. he sees his army bro which is the opening of first ep scene. rly rly rly dont want him to take over in teh cult (idt he will) because it seems as if there's no point in the cult really just trauma manifesting through evil..
MJ knows that the others are a little unhinged and he and Lady Eom lets them do stuff as long as it doesn't ruin…
i agree with what the commenter above said. i think that what you said is right. because nothing has happened to him yet (physically) it's more than that. it's a mind game plus the horror of like...body parts and being killed etc. theyr'e really really really trying to make him crazy (i think i heard that charles manson's cult--which is terrible btw--would like go into ppls houses and rearrange their furniture...can u imagine. the slightest things are off but you KNOW theyre off and you havent touched it)
i think (hopefully) we will all be satisfied! we'd want it to end and be good with shorter eps than annoyed with longer eps. it'll be the perfect end to this crazy horror show we're enjoying haha
Even tho SWDBS is full of flaws and awful BS, the MC was so much more sensitive. And iirc she gives him a backhug which i love. Idk she reigns the rship which is why i like them so much in that dumb show.
There are few of these! More shows with sensitive ML’s and women who are at the front. I think a lot of Jealousy incarnatw did this just by the nature of it, she takes care of him thru 2 things that are “humiliating” to one’s masculinity. Pretty cool imo
i really need to watch woman of dignity. kim sun ah picks some really interesting characters. although i found…
For sure! I have seen a lot of KSA’s work. I admire her for her stature and size and talent. Kim sam soon is probably the worst thing ive ever seen LOL but this was me watching in like 2014? So things had changed. City Hall is still a beloved drama to me.
HTJ was something else. I understood her but for me the frustration was how intelligent but frickin stupid she was being. But imo thats the whole show.
I recently realized the writer was a woman and looked at her other work and the dialogue is riddled with clues about the women and their place in the world. Young Eun soo had to be the greatest example, perhaps a mix of yeo jin and yeon jae (now that i think about it their names are kinda similar!) but yea so glad u put her there. First time i saw it ahe rly confused me then i Realized. Hopefully more ppl come to like her!
Yes to Hina Kudo.Cha woo Kyung from Children of Nobody, Park Bo Ja from Woman of Dignity, Lee Eun Jee from Ms…
i really need to watch woman of dignity. kim sun ah picks some really interesting characters. although i found watcher exhausting, han tae joo was so interesting and so vulnerable and messed up and weird.
young eun soo is one of THE best female characters i have seen. all women in that drama are phenomenal, but young eun soo's arc is almost unbelievable. i will never forget the conversation with seo dong jae and she says, "i'm not afraid to die" while his response is "well, i am." what an interesting group of women. i love that show alot.
go hye ran is an exercise in female characters that are characterized as strong that i, personally, see as incredibly weak and awful humans unbearable to watch. feel the same with ma yi deum. my approach to female characters and their strengths is balanced by weakness but their inevitable character arc. women behaving as disgustingly as men isn't what i believe is a strong character. in fact, oftentimes it's the ones that are aware of their circumstance and find the ways out of it.
over the years there's been a few that i really love.
as of right now, 'be melo' is showing some very strange but cool women. i think the first drama i had ever seen that had a female character that was truly autonomous was 'protect the boss.' it's not an amazing drama but i have kept it in my heart for this reason.
and i am echoing children of nobody and stranger. 'stranger' has some of the best written women i've ever seen and it's taken me about 6 rewatches to truly get a handle on what that writer was trying to do. almost every single interaction these women have with others and each other highlights the male domination they're living in. i think it's an extraordinary feat.
also 'save me' s1 has one of the most interesting female leads i have EVER seen. seo ye ji is fascinating and so is the right-hand woman to the leader.
i think we have to redefine what makes good and strong female characters. when there's a writer that can understand how complex we [women] are and writes all types of them (stranger for example, but for a much lighter example let's say the female characters from inspector jo--weird, shrill, peculiar, FUN), we can feel it.
hmmm who else. there are a lot of examples, it just sucks that we have to search for them. alternatively, there are a lot of weak willed female characters that are as unbearable as the "strong" ones that i dislike. i think a lot of the people here are women, so we are all strongly identifying with them!
oooh and what about cool/interesting/strong teenagers? solomon's perjury comes to mind
