Am I wrong for wishing for BLs to be exactly like this? Each time I watch a show with this theme I feel like shaking someone and going, "YOU COULDA BEEN A CONTENDEH!" *sigh* It's fine it's just I know once she gets "outed" they're going to suddenly change her character and people will treat her entirely different except for the ones that already knew. That were already being a certain kind of way. *sigh*
I stopped judging how the female leads look in gender-swapped K-dramas. It's tough to pull off convincingly casting…
Yeah I'm watching Fighting for Love that's just as bad ๐. I'm sure there's plenty of popular actresses who could pass for androgynous but it gets to a point that you just sigh and go "Uh huh, if you say so."
also I think they act like an old married couple. If they were old no one would say anything.
BLs tend to also depend on subtlety(or used to) both to its detriment and benefit. Which is why I brought it up, actually. And yes, my comment on old couples are stereotypical. We're very literally watching a show that depends on archetypes i.e. tropes aka stereotypes. That's what most dramas depend on and if you're lucky spread out from. I can't imagine anyone in this thread being able to name more than two dramas or tv shows of any language and country that doesn't depend on archetypes in some way.
That being said, are we really going to do an analysis on a drama title? As if the producers didn't switch around the english title last minute lol. Most mandarin speakers have already said the English title(and this is with most of the English titles) don't match.
Anyways, my discussion was poking fun at the fact that I would actually watch them if they were an elderly couple or a BL couple. They would still be just as interesting to me. Just my rando opinion.
It kind of works with 'Til the end of the Moon and then her previous drama with him in Love is Sweet but because they're not made to be that way it does lack the same energy. It's almost good enough. I could pretend a little bit lol.
Maybe I watch too many BLs because the FL and ML have a decent amount of chemistry like did we forget we're watching a Chinese drama? lol it's so rare the chemistry shows up as passion anyhow
I'm actually surprised they have sexism but it's not like ๐overt. Because this one guy is right some times, but if FL was a dude he wouldn't talk to her that way. Especially with how if anyone has beefs, it would be Tang and Chang Yuqing but he expects Tang to keep his composure and not FL.
Every time I get to the end of dramas like this, I always wish that they'll do a sequel series as a second season. And the ONLY time I think they've canonically done it, I couldn't even finish the historical version of the first season which sucks. *sigh*
Iโm the only one that loves Shang Yi Zhi. He is so funny, simple, and super cute.
Yeah I think he's adorable too. At first I thought he would be like Peter Ho's character in Blooming Days(now that's five rants and a half) but he's proven to be a much more emphatic and honest character. It's actually refreshing how kind he is without being self-sacrificing. Like that's just in his personality to act like that. It's nice.
In this drama we need to understand that ancient korean royal court hold all the secret of the country in their…
I mean, that's why everyone is upset. The only reason he had to use the minister's right hand as a weapon was because:
1) he didn't prepare properly for the fact that his brother was so against him returning. Like--no one whispered in his ear or wrote him letters about the king? They had to have. He must've ignored it or thought it an exaggeration. So, that's one point against him.
2) Say that he knew everything already and planned it to end up the way it was. Then he shouldn't have gotten Hee-Soo involved either directly or indirectly. Maybe it was him being soft or affectionate whatever. And he didn't just get Hee Soo involved he got her friends involved too. He either wasn't aware that could happen, which is his fault for ignorance or he knew that it could happen but he didn't care because they're prostitutes(?) or he felt they were worthy sacrifices(which is a good reason to be annoyed with him too).
3) Say that things got out of hand and it wasn't arrogance, ignorance, or naivete like the things above and he's very literally just trying to survive(which is what I think actually happened), he thought their sacrifice was for the greater good of his throne, Joseon, and the other people who mattered to him that he could save. The female lead is the female lead. What he did is a good reason for her never to trust him again and/or be distrustful of the kingdom he's creating when he's willing to weigh his utmost loyal friends for the backing of snakes. And let's be honest. Having the backing of snakes is a foolish mistake to begin with and lacks the proper foresight a king should have when building his kingdom.
Right but everyone can't sew her own ripped... This will probably be what separates her novel and her real world.…
I mean, there's also the fact that the novel world isn't real and she knows it. It'd actually be really really weird if she immersed herself in this fake world even as long as she's been in it. And dedicating herself to "dating" a character she made, no less the villain of her novel with all the memories and intent she made this character for, is uncomfortable.
I think she has alot more reasons for why she's resistant and awkward than reasons not to be.

I have the magical skillset of mind swiping spoilers out of existence and I've already forgotten it 5 minutes after reading it .

I've never and will never do that with my bestie lol. I can't even imagine.
