So I’ve been complaining about how Tan Songyun has been holding back her emotions and barely showing any affection toward Lin Jinqi… and finally, after 47 episodes, we get those eyes filled with longing and affection!

The way she smiled when Lin Jinqi returned after six months in the capital, and that little moment when she helped him with his bath… THAT is the look of love I’ve been wanting to see as a viewer!

Thank you, Tan Songyun, for finally letting some of those emotions slip through! 😂❤️

I agree—it can be cringey seeing fans argue and read too much into every little gesture just to feed their imagination…

But honestly, watching them in interviews, bts and variety shows, it’s hard not to ship them. Lol.

I ugly cried during Lanxiang’s final conversation with her mom in the courtyard, and when her mom said, “(real) Lanxiang is here to pick me up.”

She finally opened up about what was going on in her head, answering the very questions we viewers had been wanting answers to all along.

Thank you lanxiang for giving every one of us a proper closure.

Obviously the FL needs to be top billed here she is clearly the star of the show .

Yup i could not imagine wu jin yan in this role coz she usually plays the strong revenge fl so if she took on this role and insist on just wanting to live well…. It will be a total transformation

I think Liu Xueyi is still the best choice. I love Zhang Xincheng, but he has a gentler, more harmless look, so I’m not sure he would convey the same coldness and commanding presence in the early part of the drama. He could do really well after the forced marriage, though—he’s great at playing dorky or awkward characters, or madly in love.

Ding Yuxi might be able to pull it off too, but Liu Xueyi remains my first choice.

As for Wu Jinyan as the FL? That would have changed the whole experience of the drama.

So i read that there circulating rumors that ding yu xi and zhang xing cheng were was considered for the ML role and wu jin yan for the FL? Thoughts?

To be honest i agree with you on that.

I had the same thought about the show not clearly showing Lanxiang’s emotional growth towards Jing Qi, but the more I think about it, the more I feel it was deliberate. Her feelings developed so gradually that she probably didn’t even notice the shift herself. And as everyone agrees,… the director does not spell out everything for viewers. We need to dissect snd discuss. 😂

For me, the turning point was around the Ji’er incident, and then when they worked together to help Big Sister separate from her husband. From that point on, Lanxiang slowly transitioned from simply protecting herself to protecting him.

She warns him when she knows he’s in danger. She goes out of her way to find him, even risking her own life. She burns the evidence to protect him. All these little actions add up, and so much of what she does is ultimately about keeping him safe.

Come to think of it, she really doesn’t need to do any of that if she still resents him that much.

Her love just isn’t expressed through smiles, hugs or obvious affection. It comes out through quiet acts of service, loyalty and protection. I still wish she were a little more lovey-dovey with him, but unfortunately our Lanxiang is just too businesslike. 😂

I agree with you. I love this drama, but pushing her into the role of the heroine who has to fix everyone’s problems feels a bit too much.

This has been my experience with TSY too like in sword and brocade. When a character calls for restraint, she becomes so guarded that it leaves me wanting more. When the role calls for her to be uninhibited, she can do that too—but I rarely see the shades in between. I wish she’d let us glimpse that flicker of fondness beneath the guarded exterior, those moments when affection starts slipping through despite her attempts to hold it back.
