I’ve seen a lot of comments interpreting Lanxiang’s line to Jin Qi, “This lifetime is enough,” as proof that she doesn’t truly love him and has no desire to meet him again in the next life.

However, in this interview, Tan Songyun offered a different interpretation. To her, Lanxiang means that this lifetime is already enough because she doesn’t believe Lin Jin Qi owes her anything or needs to repay her love in another lifetime.

But if there really is a next life, and Lin Jin Qi chooses to find her again, Lanxiang would see that as something beautiful to hope for, rather than something she feels entitled to or takes for granted.

It’s not that Lanxiang doesn’t want another lifetime with him. It’s that she loves him without expecting anything in return, not even the promise of another life together.

She also praised Liu Xueyi’s professionalism and hardworking, mentioning how he constantly reminded her to let him know if there was anything he could do to make her feel more comfortable while filming.She also spoke highly of his portrayal of Da Ye, saying that he brought the character to life so convincingly that he genuinely felt like Da Ye himself.

I did not dare start any new dramas: i know againts the current has set a high benchmark. It is going to be a while to find another one.

I haven’t watched In Blossom, but I’m willing to give it a try. Princess Gambit is blocked, though, lol. I just can’t get past Meng Ziyi’s acting, no matter how much I like Liu Xueyi.

Exactly. I’ve been skimming through my old to-watch list because none of the dramas airing right now are interesting enough. Lament of Autumn and where the Mask Ends just don’t pique my interest after watching Liu Xue Yi plus tan song yun caliber. Arghhh! I also read a few reviews that viewers are not impressed with tian xi wei acting in where the mask.

Some viewers equate good acting with exaggerated facial expressions. When an actor conveys emotion mainly through their eyes and breathing, they call it ‘lacking range.’ They clearly don’t appreciate more restrained actors like Tony Leung, Gong Yoo or Hu Ge.

Have you watched her in go ahead and the road home? She is really versatile. I didnt enjoy her in sword and brocade though.

Agree. You wouldn’t believe what I just read on Reddit: someone was complaining that Liu Xueyi lacks range and barely moves his eyebrows. That’s so far from my experience of his acting. Every moment in this drama feels like a masterclass—even the slightest pause means something. Just priceless. And i mean the whole cast acting was great

Lanxiang’s love language is quiet protection, not lovey-dovey affection.

She has done so much for Lin Jinqi: saving him again and again, risking her life to find him, helping his sisters through their domestic troubles, and protecting his family. She even wrote a play to gently show him the path she wanted him to take—and gave birth to their children. Those things take far more effort than simply hugging, kissing or cooking for him.

Throughout the show, Lin Jinqi is the only man she goes to such lengths to protect. If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is.

This is the kind of show where you have to read between the lines, especially with the female lead. Lanxiang is so used to hiding her identity and keeping herself guarded that her motives are often subtle. You have to pay attention to her actions to understand what she’s feeling.

and I am waiting for xiao zhan’s small town remedy but other on going dramas don’t interest me.

Zhan, zhang xin cheng, lie xue yi…. Just marathoned go ahead and day of becoming you.

I’m really interested to see him play a completely different character. In The Legend of Zang Hai, he’s scheming, guarded and a little too refined. But in the Small Town Remedy preview, he looks so much more human—scruffy, whingy and slightly awkward. I can’t wait to see this funnier side of Xiao Zhan!

I’m still hungover from Against the Current and looking for my next watch party to join. Hopefully, Xiao Zhan will cure my Liu Xueyi withdrawal!

For such a small cameo role, he delivered far beyond what was expected. His performance brought so much depth to the character that his portrayal revealed more layers than the writing itself provided.

I also dragged myself towards the ending but there are still scenes in the last few episodes that were worth watching - xie zhao and xiuwan, lanxiang and mom’s farewell, jin qi and lanxiang husband and wife scenes….compared to other dramas where i dropped halfway… atc still scores higher.
