I’m starting to think our director was on sick leave when they edited Episode 39, so they just gathered whatever scenes they had lying around and went, “Okay, time skip here… another time skip there…” 😂

She is too rigid in her views….

They wanted to cover so many things—Jinlan’s wife becoming a widow, Xiuwan living her carefree life, Xiuru dealing with the pressure of having no son… I just wish they had used some of that screen time to show Jing Qi and Lanxiang gradually transitioning from husband and wife in name only to finally becoming a real couple. Aside from the grave scene, that emotional transition felt underdeveloped.

A bit disappointed that Lanxiang’s emotional growth toward the ML was very underplayed. Granted, the writers clearly wanted to emphasize women’s empowerment and focus more on the female-centered issues surrounding Lanxiang’s growth and independence. But for me, finding the love of her life—and learning to open herself up to that love—is just as important a part of her journey. I wish that side of her emotional development had been given a little more space.

Definitely became one of my favorite female characters in the show. She refused to be bound by society’s expectations of women and marriage, and now, looking at Xiuru with three daughters and being looked down on simply because she has no sons, Xiu Wan’s freedom feels even more appealing.

I have been putting off go ahead because of song wei long but i am A fan of the second lead steve zhang. So i am watching for him lol. Not a fan of song wei long too. He is handsome but acting needs improvement

Yes, and I’ve also noticed that Tan Songyun can be very guarded when her character needs to convey “I’m not in love with you.” In The Sword and the Brocade, that made them feel like two strangers for much of the drama. At least in ATC, Liu Xueyi does the heavy lifting when it comes to showing affection.

I didn’t like sword and brocade and i think partly because the ML just did the bare minimum . Didnt create tension like LxY did
