Well, that was a crazy mess that went completely downhill in the second half. Realistic? Absolutely not. I’m very sorry I wasted my time when I could see this story take a nose dive in the second half. I still don’t really understand or like the FL’s character. I don’t comprehend what she really wanted. Did she even know? Does she now know? So stupid.
I feel like she led him on a wild ride with her determining what was acceptable. She behaved as she wished throughout and left him twice yet spoke about loyalty. She set the rules of the relationship. I don’t have an issue with them not ending up together. In fact, I think it is best. I just don’t care for her generally unspoken expectations including I will do anything to support you but I want financial security and want nothing less (thanks Mom).
She even says when he proposed that she dreamed of him proposing to her on stage with a five carat ring (really?). He felt under pressure to give her an expensive house and lifestyle (outspoken demands from her mother that she went along with) and wavered in his dream of directing to give her those things then she switches and says let’s follow your (our??) dream and risk everything on making a movie again.
They want to make their story/script but that is abandoned by the investors and creative team. Yet she continually pressures him to conform and concede when working with others on the project (she has done this before). He wants to leave because they can’t make their film. She rather reluctantly agrees to quit. Then when he does an about face (after the producer describes the dismal life he will lead if he doesn’t follow through), he finally decides not to quit and stay and direct so she leaves.
Why does she leave? Because he wasn’t loyal and they had agreed to leave the project? Oh was she embarrassed? Did she lose face? Did she ever care about him losing face when the guy who liked her and assaulted her continually demeaned him right in front of her and she continued to engage with the guy as she wanted his help. She continually put herself out there for the ML then resents that she isn’t being recognized or given credit yet she (mostly) just harbors resentment rather than openly discussing what she wants and expects. How ridiculous! How hypocritical!
Then she goes off to make a low budget form of their story as a movie going into business with an unscrupulous “thug”. Later she contemplates marrying this thug. WTH is going on? This FL wants to call the shots but characterizes her actions (in her mind) as doing it all for him. She wants to be pursued and have the ML “appreciate” her and her sacrifices. When this doesn’t happen to her satisfaction she leaves all wounded and upset. This is the second time she has left as earlier in the drama she blames him for the assault she underwent with a guy she kept engaging with to “help” the ML’s career (he wasn’t there to save her and she was doing it to help the ML get a job - even though the ML said he didn’t want the job and told her not to go).
I don’t recall the ML ever asking her to do these things but she continually decides what to pursue and how for his sake. Whaaat?
Let’s not even talk about the second couple and the wacky turn of events and storyline with them.

It’s no wonder I have felt from the get go that FL cared a bit too much about financial success over everything else. Clearly, this viewpoint has come from her mother who believes a man must provide the home and be the breadwinner of the family.
FL never had her own true goals or career interests (other than to make money) and has just been there to support the ML’s dreams. Now from the previews it seems she will takeover his dream and their project, pursue it on her own and leave him. She makes a claim that she is “going to reclaim her dream”. Her dream, really? This isn’t a woman being strong in her pursuits this is a woman adopting and taking from her boyfriend everything and walking away.
I also hope they don’t end up together. She has achieved her one and only goal to make money even if it means stepping on him. She doesn’t belong with ML imo.
I too am struggling with this drama. I really dislike the FL’s character (perhaps an unpopular opinion). She had no ambition or passion in college other than to find a man. She has got him and is following him around taking various jobs to help keep them afloat.
The FL attempts to buy him a job from a man who pursues her and treats him like crap right in front of her . Whaaatt? She gets assaulted by the guy after she goes to his home late at night alone. Ridiculous. Then she gets upset with the ML because she doesn’t come home all night and he thinks she has betrayed him. Yet, she doesn’t tell him what happened until later leading to further trouble. Sorry that is all on her for his later reaction to the news. What did he do wrong? He wasn’t there to rescue her, is that his failure? Why didn’t she call the police when she was locked in the guys bathroom? It’s a mess.
On the other hand the ML knows what he wants and has a very specific passion and loads of energy. Is his choice a practical one? No, but the FL knows this from the get-go. She follows him into his chosen career and lo’ and behold adopts it for herself. She is very willing to compromise on projects and he is not, thus she starts getting support at work.
Getting into filmmaking on the creative side is one of the hardest things a person can choose to do as a career. Nearly impossible unless you already have financial means and backing or connections in the industry. Coming from families with little financial means translates into tremendous struggle with a very low likelihood of success. The characters are becoming more focused on having a house, a car etc or in other words just making money as a priority. ML still has passion and his own view as to the work and projects he wants to pursue while she does as asked. He even revises a script for her for an important project. The FL seems to be distancing herself more and more from him. It feels wrong to me. Is she working harder than him? They suggest she is but do I see that she is really better than him at what she is doing creatively? No, I don’t. She is more amenable and they keep working for men who seem to have a bit of interest in her because she is a woman.
We’ll see what happens up to the end but I don’t see or want them together atp. Honestly, other than her “support” of him I don’t know why he really likes her. For me, I don’t see any passion or chemistry between them other than her breakup s@x. Smh

Didn’t he say before his father was great at hotpot so who knows. It could be a misdirect. If he truly starts a relationship with Jing Shu knowing her horrible character I will lose all respect for him. I don’t believe they will do this because these dramas typically want the leads to remain pure and pining after each other for a lifetime.
I think the FL is tossed into the drama like the Kopiko scrip injections. When she shows up now I FF. The character is more like a supporting cast role.
I must complement you on your command of the English language and extensive vocabulary! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your commentary, so eloquent and definitely well thought out. It was great humor in a boring part of my day. Perhaps you should continue your studies in English and take some classes on comprehension of the English language. I can understand some of the behavior based on the considerations you mentioned however there was the routinely ridiculous vaudevillian “bad” characters and then the goody two shoes opposite “good” group. A story you might present to young kids to demonstrate what is good vs what is bad behavior. Not multilayer characters and very simplistic.
For me, it was too big of a divide and therefore not relatable, realistic or entertaining. I grew up very poor and around uneducated people including family members and people were often nasty, petty and combative but the contrast here was too much. It feels childish to me but of course, to each his own.
