All that to bring about an investigation? The evidence you’ve gathered about the silver mine , forced labor and coin minting isn’t enough? What kind of Emperor is this anyway who doesn’t want to uncover all these misdeeds that undermine him and the country? His intent is to force a corrupt Emperor and cabinet to remove the crown prince, is that it? Idk it feels like too many machinations that are just made more difficult to drag out the story. It’s boring.
The FL is doing all this on the very slim hope that her brother is still alive but she knows he isn’t doing well and he/they are lying to her about his wellbeing while poisoning her. I thought she was supposed to be smart and devious but she really believes they will keep him alive for her to return if she pretends to do their bidding, really? Why isn’t she trying to get him out instead of focusing on manipulating the Chancellor to achieve what exactly? They now know the painting directed the location of the silver mine so what is she trying to do now? Undermine the crown prince hoping for a better replacement to help her? Who specifically? I’m not sure what she is trying to achieve and if it is all for her brother how this is really helping him.

I think they will end up together but it will be rushed and their relationship will not be explored in any depth at all. Just like the novel. It had great possibility but was truncated, therefore for me, not all that compelling. It feels very incomplete as though the writer got bored with it and just wrapped it up midway.

Unfortunately, in the novel which the drama is closely mirroring they spend little to no time together. Half way through college she just decides to be with him and tells him and bam that’s it the end of the story. There are a couple of short epilogue chapters after they had been dating and he proposes and then another about years later when they have two kids. Felt very abrupt to me.
I’m checking it out because of Yu Ning but I must confess I don’t really enjoy watching Yi Tong’s dramas. It would be nice if it does have a different spin than usual.

He is repulsive and disgusting to allow and participate in such abuse, now and in the past. He is not a man and certainly not a father. This girl needs to finish high school and get the hell away from all of them!
This drama is seriously tough and stressful. Dysfunctional families all around, nasty bullies, family secrets and psychological abuse. It is difficult to find more than one or two people with a conscience and decent behavior. Having gone through many similar things in my family and childhood, I can attest to the realism of the various characters actions and the effects of those actions on others. So depressing. Great job thus far but not for everyone.

Of course, the ML isn’t the one who tortured her which is even more reason why it doesn’t make sense to not get her into therapy and proper mental health treatment in a timely manner.
