I actually thought this first episode was pretty good! Aside from the fact there are certain...suspicious similarities, I will say ;-), I was expecting another dumpster fire like Hotel Stars. But this was decent. Basic, but decent.
I thought it was great! Gulf and Mew still have great chemistry, it's not set in college, and they are arguing about normal grown up things. The random side characters thing is, I guess, normal for Mame's stories, but still weird, but oh well, I'm used to it by now. Looking forward to the next episode!
i suggest you do some research or read the youtube comments after watching every episode.
No? Why would the fact that you had to do research to understand something mean that the show didn't deliver? That's like saying a piece of media has to assume its fans know nothing. Some people have a broader experience, are more well-read, etc.. than others. Just because you didn't get it or understand it doesn't mean it didn't deliver. Media can be complex and require thought, reflection, and yes, research. That is how you learn: something you love has elements beyond your experience and you look for more knowledge because you want to understand the thing you love. It sounds like you want media to be dumbed down so people don't have to work to understand. The work makes the understanding, when it comes, sweeter. Push yourself to grow and learn, don't expect that everything will always be easily within your reach, not even BLs.
Just remembered some Rupaul's Drag Race references then I remembered how Paolo (Karl) is actually a big RPDR fan…
Yes, I saw the reactor's interview and they asked Paolo and Ian if they shipped their characters and Paolo was like: "From the beginning. When I first saw Ian, I was shook because he was cute! But, as Shangela would say, I'm a professional haleloo!" Best response ever!
I thought the ending had some really sweet moments and also some really cringey moments. I do think Judah was kind of annoying during the middle of this. Also, he's like 20, and he's all like, "I need you to love me!!!" Like, hasn't he heard of dating??? Anyway, I don't think the ending of this show lived up to the promise of the beginning. It started out great and ended up kind of mediocre. In terms of all the other BLs out there, I would say it's probably in the top 25%, but a long way down from the best (gameboys, gaya sa pelikula).
So based on the runtime and the plotting (this is all happening over a couple of days, or so it seems), this feels more like a movie, cut up into pieces. I think we are still near the beginning of the movie, so I'm still kind of feeling like, "Ok, where is this going?" Hopefully, there is some kind of montage soon where we see them interact in positive ways and feelings grow (like the snowball fight scene in Beauty and the Beast) and then some kind of dramatic climax where the feelings come out. I guess what I'm saying is....move it along! And more Judit! She is my fave part of the show!
This show is so bad, it's basically good. Everything is so ridiculous and over the top. But damn, Ace and Sky are looking good together. Honestly, the way they talk to each other is the most normal part of the show. They seem like an actual couple that met under normal circumstances and are enjoying the New Love Energy at the beginning of their relationship. The rest of the show is dumb af, but at this point, it's all so over the top it's like watching a slow, funny train wreck. I'm here for it. <3
Though I was pissed cause they've been baiting us with JJFiat pairing even though we know they won't end up together,…
I totally agree! It reinforces the stereotype that HIV is a punishment for having sex with lots of people, that bi people are sexually reckless and have poor morals. Hopefully, they handle the storyline with care.
I know! I would much rather have one well-acted kiss and a cut than what we saw here. Anytime they do the whole…
Honestly, it reminds me of growing up in the 90s and guys who were like, "I'll s*** your d*** but I won't kiss". So probably it's kind of triggering for me haha
This show is such a melodrama. Everything is over the top: the music, the fireworks, the constantly heightened emotion. It is kind of a mess, but the two leads are sometimes very charming. And after this episode, they definitely win the award for best sex scene of the year so far. Better than Quaranthings, b/c for some reason in Quaranthings, they didn't actually kiss, which was kind of weird?
