Honestly, I agree with YumeBL to an extent. I know one or two people who might react to that extent, but I know them and I understand how they work. The show, in my opinion, did not do a good enough job of establishing that this was Gene's personality before this freak out. Gene has been closed off and kind of rude in order to protect himself in the past, but this complete meltdown came out of nowhere. Generally in TV shows, they telegraph that type of personality before such a climactic moment. I'm not saying no one would react that way, but I think the show should have done more work to make it believable, because clearly, from reading these comments, there are a lot of people who found it unbelievable.

I mean, in Gene's place, I would interpret it as, "this hot guy lied to me a little bit to get close to me, that's hot." I'm not saying it's right; Nubsib even admitted it. But Gene acted like it was the end of the world, which I still think is a complete overreaction. I mean, if Gene was like, "dude not cool" and Nubsib was like, "Omg, you are so right. Sorry, I am just so into you." And Gene was like, "oh, yea, don't do it again" and Nubsib was like, "I totally won't, I'll earn back your trust." Handled. I know it's a TV show but they should have made Nubsib do something much worse if they wanted Gene to completely freak out. I don't think his reaction fits what happened (and if they wanted him to freak out they should have explained why he was so upset, because it's super unclear from the show). Maybe Gene has a past trauma? Then they should have shown us the trauma ahead of time or something, because as it is, without your two paragraphs of explanation about Gene's inner life, it doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, that was a bad episode. Nothing happened for like 40 minutes then Gene completely over-reacted. Also, that confrontation was soooo dragged out. Nubsib could have explained himself like 10 times in the length of that pause while they were staring at each other. I don't even get why Gene was so upset. So they new each other like 15-20 years ago when they were kids???? I mean, yeah, it's a little weird that Nubsib didn't say anything but it's not like it was some terrible secret. Honestly, other than purposefully lying so that he could stay with Gene (which is manipulative, sure, but not the worst thing anyone has ever done) I don't really get what is happening, or why all the tears. If anything, I would be a little bit flattered that someone was willing to go through so much to be with me.

The acting is decent, the story is interesting if unfocused, and the music is good. The problem is the editing. Some of the scenes are too long, and some of them end too abruptly and the transitions between scenes are too short. If they can fix the editing, that would help a lot.

So, I haven't read the book, but this is what needs to happen:

1. Tian goes back to Bangkok, gets his degree. I don't know how college works in Thailand, but he could do a double degree in engineering and education or just switch to education
2. Go back to Pha Phun Dao, become their permanent teacher (this was mentioned so many times, I have to believe it is going to happen
3. Marry Phupha, have babies

Happily every after, the end.

Yeah, I feel exactly the same. Weird, creepy vibes from the step-brothers

So, I have loved all of the other HIStory series (minus episode 10 of MODC, you all know what I mean), and I really want to like this show, but honestly the two brothers are really creeping me out. I get that they are stepbrothers, but still, it's giving me weird vibes. I hope they get less creepy (the stalking doesn't help).

I mean, if someone's about to shoot you, use every weapon you've got, right??? Haha, but it didn't work, anyway. It bought some time for Phupha to get there.

Absolutely! I only like series that are generally popular. I never have an opinion that isn't the majority. It makes me feel good to only agree with other people. I shun original thought. Most people don't notice that about me, but you have seen straight through to the true me underneath the facade I try to put up. I've never met anyone through forum comments as clear-sighted as you. <3<3<3 :-p

Haha, Lovely Writer has an 8.1 rating here and Cherry Magic has an 8.3, so it seems like most people are enjoying/have enjoyed those shows. Interesting that you called them garbage. You are free to have your opinion of course, but I don't think that's an opinion that most people share.

I liked it and I don't get why everyone is being so critical. Like, did they expect everyone to have some kind of angelic reaction when Tian confessed? They are supposed to be normal people, not saints. Phupha included. I thought it was a great episode. Mix did a good job of showing how despondent Tian felt and Earth showed PhuPha's conflicted feelings about Tian including how he felt betrayed. I thought it was well done.

Off to a good start! I hope they don't fuck this one up.

Thanks! Isn't Gene supposed to be a lot older than Nubsib? I thought Gene graduated from college like 10 years ago with Tum and Nubsib is currently in college?

Can someone spoil me on this one? I don't have the time to read the novel. Is Nubsib a con artist trying to get money/special favors out of Gene? Is he looking for a sugar daddy? Is he secretly in love with Gene and knew Gene from somewhere else? What's the secret???

It seems like it was just yesterday that we all watched a whole series and instead of a kiss, we got a high five. Now, our biggest worry is annoying sound effects. Progress!

Also, this show is giving me total sugar daddy vibes, haha.
